With 10 days, 1000 miles of driving and lots of chores to complete before our journey north, we didn't get much fun or videotaping done, but we did want to share the experience and some of the gorgeous sights along the way.
We spent a few days in Salt Lake City where we took ROAMN in for scheduled maintenance, a new TPMS sensor, and a final once over; Piccolo got greased; Kelly had a problem with a tooth fixed; we tried out Level Crossing Brewing (delicious beer and food); visited with Marie; washed Stormy; hit up REI for some final pieces of equipment; and stayed on the shores of Great Salt Lake. All in a few short days.
Next, we headed to Idaho, where we stayed in Idaho Falls for a couple nights along the Snake River. We got some spare parts for our trip, tried out brews from Idaho Brewing Company, pizza from Mister B's Wood Fired Pizza, and cookies from The Cookie Place (all delicious!).
Finally we entered our last of the lower 48 that we'd see until fall, Montana. Montana quickly amazed us with the sights and we were wishing we'd had more time to explore. We stayed at Horse Prairie Dispersed Camping along the Clark Canyon Reservoir in Dillon, which was AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL...and free!!! Then up to Shelby where we got our mail one last time, knocked out our final errands, and got Stormy checked over for entry into Alaska the following month.
It was a whirlwind, but everything got accomplished and we were ready to leave the Lower 48 for the remainder of the spring and summer...so we did! Enjoy the episode and we'll see you next time in Banff and Jasper National Parks (Canadian National Parks are dog friendly!!!).

Thanks for watching! If you head up via Coutts/Sweet Grass crossing, we highly recommend using Shelby as your final staging point. It was very close to the border (1-day drive to Banff) and had what we needed.

Wow looks like the fun has really begun! We just attended a presentation and Q&A at the Oliver rally on traveling to Alaska. I will be following you guys' updates to see how your experience compares to what we were told at the presentation. Good luck guys and safe traveling!

We’d attended a similar one at the Xscapers Bash in January. We found it had some good info and there’s certainly more than one way to adventure to Alaska. Find what works for you and enjoy the journey! Cheers!

Great videos! Just found you after researching Oliver trailers. Do you prefer the Oliver over the airstream you sold awhile back?

Thank you for watching! We do prefer our Oliver for what we are currently using our RV for. Sometimes we miss the space we had with our Airstream, but never on drive days 😉. The biggest thing is knowing how you want your RV life to look and getting the rig that allows for that. We’re covering tens of thousands of miles over the next year and prefer living outside our camper and not in RV parks. The Ollie is a great tool for this.

What did you decide was the best way to protect the front of the Oliver and how did it work on the Alaska trip?

We went with a temporary solution. We purchased a foam gym mat (like a more robust yoga mat) and used non-residue duct tape to secure it to the front. You can see this in our Whitehorse video a few after this one. It worked very well. When we removed it we had no additional chips under it and the little bit of residue easily came off with a little Goo Gone. We did have to add a bit more tape once in the 4.5 months it was on, otherwise it was a simple, effective & inexpensive solution.
