Journey to the Giants. Abandoned wind farm

On one of the days of the trip, I was drenched in the rain at Cape Kazantip. I was already tired of sitting in the car and drinking tea; out of boredom, I flipped through the map and saw that there was a wind farm nearby. When I decided to go and have a look, I didn’t know about the condition of the station and that this trip would become like stalking through an abandoned place too.
В один из дней поездки меня заливало дождем на мысе Казантип. Сидеть в машине и пить чай мне уже надоело, от скуки я листал карту и увидел что неподалеку находится ВЭС. Когда я решил поехать и посмотреть, о состоянии станции я не знал и что это путешествие станет похожим на сталкинг по заброшенному месту тоже.

These generators are in bad condition. This is the Novoazovsk Wind Power Station if I'm not mistaken and its consists of Уінденерго wind generators that are rated at 56-100kw and some Turbowinds T600-48 which are rated at 600 kw. It would be nice if we could have a full in-depth review or video !

Ooh interesting, how are the generators in bad condition? there are 3 of them spinning anticlockwise at nearly the end of the video. Also I thought those were the two 1MW Wind turbines

@@daineramosquitco5816 they can be in bad condition because you can hear them screaming with the rust and the naccel cover is starting to fall off of the neer enough

@@bowling6535 this nacelle covers are pretty flimsy. where these machines were built, in the usa, no one of these machines had the nacelle cover because they flew away just a few years after commissiong. But yes, they are in bad condition which is very sad because they are probably the last turbines of kenetech/us windpower in this mass.

@@daineramosquitco5816 because thus wind farm is abandoned and no one can't fix them they will probably have to make the parts as the company who made these are no longer available anymore

What a find! Those are really old USW U.S. Windpower 56-100 They look pretty beat up but is so cool to see some of them still running!

and when are those old 100kw wind turbines built? what is the installed capacity of this wind farm? I'm guessing it's way back in the 1980s or 1990s.

Spinning at 1:00 + there are 3 of them, but they spin anticlockwise, aren't they supposed to spin at clockwise?

It's hard to say when they were built…I would say between 1974 and 198X anyway because later US Windpower became Kenetech…As regards capacity I would say that the wind farm should generate just over 1 MW at full capacity. About the rotation of these turbines, they actually spin in the correct direction. The fact that it looks backwards is because these old turbines are downwind models, which means that the wind to rotate the turbine must come from behind and not in front as in more modern models.

@@giacomopiovano9631 wait so it means that the 3 of those wind turbines in this video were generating electricity? that's also a decent amount of capacity, but because 3 are only spinning here, then it's 300kW. Wow! i just didn't even know they were downwind models! cause you know i thought they were spinning in the wrong direction but thank you for the info :)

@@daineramosquitco5816 I doubt it as it is being occupied by russia. It prorbably would be running today otherwise, or atleast a new wind park would be there. But not like this.

Woah, that is one abandoned wind farm! these wind turbines are untouched for many years now.. And why is it abandoned? wind turbine spinning backwards at 1:06 and generating electricity? aren't they supposed to spin clockwise? Its a little creepy to visit places like this, just the creepy and kind of unsettling feeling that your all alone there. gives off a little dread because of the music you put in this video..

In fact, I felt the same way being there without music! The station is clearly not producing electricity. Or it is a very small amount of energy. Why is it abandoned? I dont know. Maybe it's bad administration and the indifference of the authorities. The station was launched in 2009.

@@tarasfastovetslife Yeah, it for you it feels like that place has something wrong with its ambience, especially by the time you filmed this video.. I see 3 wind turbines spinning at timestamps 0:54 to 1:02 Those old wind turbines are actually USW Windpower 56-100 models, which are rated for 56kW to 100kW, but they're so short than we think? What's the name of this wind farm? At the beginning of this video, I saw 2 modern wind turbines that look like its in the megawatts class, but idk the brand.

This is the East Crimean wind farm. It is located on the Crimean peninsula. I'm not an expert, but maybe the turbines at the beginning of the video - T600-48. Coordinates indicated in the description of the video.

@@tarasfastovetslife Also, just imagine a person who lived there in 2009 that had an iPhone 3GS filmed the entire wind farm using iPhone 3GS, then 14 years later we still had the footage of those live turbines!
