Do there horns fall off every year

Yes, reindeer antlers fall off every year and they grow them back within a couple months. Caribou and reindeer are the only deer where both male and female grow antlers. Males shed them midwinter (usually after Christmas but it could be before, too) and females keep theirs until they calve in the spring so they can get food while pregnant.
