Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
When the people listen to you, don't you know it means a lot?
Because you've got to work so hard for everything you've got
Can't rest on your laurels now - not when you've got none
You'll find yourself in the gutter, right back where you came from
[Verse 2]
Someone told me being in the know is the main thing
We all need the security that belonging brings
Can't stand on your own in these times against all the odds
You all just fall behind like all the other sods
[Chorus]
You slap our backs and pretend you knew about
All the things that we were gonna do
What you're gonna do?
What you're gonna do when it's over
[Verse 4]
You're all on your own now - don't you think that it's a shame
But you're the only one responsible to take the blame
So what you're gonna do when the novelty is gone?
Yeah, what you're gonna do when the novelty is gone?
[Chorus]
You slap our backs and pretend you knew about
All the things that we were gonna do
What you're gonna do?
What you're gonna do when it's over?

Very similar introduction to Joy Division. My brother was into them in the early eighties he had one of those little tape decks lol. Compared to todays sound systems it must have sounded tinny as f*ck but back then to us it sounded great

BIT Arrogant that! I am 58 in mid March, and an 'original 1977 pUnK rOcKeR ! I Bought the 7" single of Transmission soon after it's release ( I was still at school, so money was tight) I am still into this band so much to this day and have learnt their tunes on guitar! I am also born and bred in Manchester, but none of these points make me better qualified to comment on this band or any other, be they from Manchester or any other GREAT BRITISH City or town! It is a Gem of a song, I discovered it in 1979, when it was being demoed on 'THE JOHN PEEL SHOW' in 1979! Music is a journey and so it should be! Cheers and Love ! dx

JD has a very incredible discography, they created a sound nobody else had, and this song stands out from even the others they made, while not my absolute favorite, it’s definitely up there, the high energy and fast paced beat really makes this song, I would say it’s almost frantic; when the novelty is gone, they make a last ditch effort to save themselves from obsolescence.

I hear hints of many metal bands in it, ac dc, rob halford, accept, even iron maiden, and others, a little bit of early 80's metal sound, maybe they were inspired by joy division or this was late 70's general metal beginnings among many.

*The Puzzle of Gendering* The gendering of male and female aspects into nature and man-made concepts is a big tradition that has seeped right into the languages of mankind. The puzzle of gendering, however, is not as simple as it appears and not always related to social constructs but to Creation or evolution. This is because, regardless of whether one believes in Creation of God or that of a Darwinian report, the aspects of male and female were not split apart evenly in either Creation or cell division or the spirit. This is what imparts the physical attraction of male and female. The major enduring question is to find which aspects were "switched at birth" so to speak that impart this attraction and confuse the simple gendering process. A female is rarely destructive or violent. That is a good place to begin as to which male processes are actually feminine.

*The Definitive Bully* "Crutches" Bullying is really a simple definition that people tend to inflate. It is merely when one person uses another as a sort of permanent crutch. This can get especially annoying because of the telepathic interconnectedness in the mind's communication. Bullies tend to have more sexual activity because people tend to avoid authority and the limelight so they can sneak away with each other.

*A Competitive Genesis of the Mysteries* At the end of all knowledge lies the place nobody like to go to. It is the end that justified the beginning. It completes the circle in a recurring idiocy. It is the artistic drop-off point, supposedly so intelligent that it has become irrelevant is a state of mind as warped as it inception. Here it is, the end of all knowledge and ambition as twisted as a Lovecraftian portal. There are two immortals. There are those who complete the way of knowledge and those who never attempt it. "Herein, lie all the mysteries, but be warned, for they are threefold!" "As above, so below." -Thoth 1. The end justifies the means. The means justify themselves. These are the two to legal extremes. 2. Two for the makers, one for the fools. Here lies the birth of math and economics. 3. The more you know, the less you show. This especially concerns those who dream. 4. Help to keep the mysteries, for those under them bring treasures. 5. I summon thee for wine, and from wine you are summoned. This concerns the true birth of Jesus. 6. A screen is a screen, no matter how high or how low. A screen is a calling. It screens out those below. As high as the stars or under the dirt, a screen is complexity that those under shall work. This concerns ambition and drive in men. 7. A man who sees only a mirror sees only himself in others. Instead, make the mirror in all its forms. The you will see the other, though owning a man will sometimes send him to the healers, especially when you look at him and he doesn't notice. 8. Females are born of Lilith. They only generate to the lesser. 9. A god is made of paper and reeds. It is here by which they summon the spirits. 10. "As above, so below" has to do with the digestion of information which requires relaxed humility. Christianity tried to monopolize it through humility to the Bible, thus imparting torture to millions. -Francis Blake

*The Secret Key to Vampirism* “Interview With An Empty Skull” The actual truth about real living vampires, despite all rumors and stories, is that they are just airheads with the key to society. Society and its individuals grow slowly more complex over time. The vampires wait for you to get a complex then they open their umbrellas and own you by its simple similes. The mirror of the self will automatically see another as similar or as complex, however vampires remain simple and can also be extremely sharp. This is why witches hate vampires. The witch is complexity. Still one cannot tell them apart. If a vampire family sees you get a complex they’ll probably destroy you. Most of the world is about giving you a complex. This is how they grow so powerful. A vampire bite doesn’t give you a complex it takes it away. The sunlight becomes naturally brighter over time. Be warned. *Cross Immunity:* Flinging passages. Freaks on leashes. Four hidden doorways. Standing behind you. Spitting book gum after chewing.
