It's the bushings in the link suspension, polycarbonate or some other substitute for rubber which is harder and squeks more (armchair explanation😄

I remember when I power washed my CJ5 for 4 hours to get it ready for paint put it in my storage barn and came back the jeep was missing my son and his friend decided to take it mudding

Mud crawling is one of those outdoors activities that I avoid like the plague. Once got stuck like that in my Mazda 4x4 Drifter truck so bad, that my friend's son had to recover me with his 4x4 Landini agricultural tractor. I am since then totally cured of mud, totally. Oh, did I mention that I was totally cured of mud? If not, I was totally cured of mud😂😂 . Take care and God bless from South Africa.

That old Western Electric rotary-dial wall phone that Robby was talking on wasn't even connected. The only time I have seen anyone talk on a phone that wasn't connected was an episode of the Twilight Zone. Great video!

Great video! You should save all of your used shower curtains for times like this when you have to lay in the mud. When I was younger my sister drove my mother's four-door Chevrolet citation to a party in an iron ore pit which is reddish clay mud, she didn't say anything until the next day that she was stuck, we went to pull it out he was stuck up to the frame and the mud froze overnight and the rims were encased in the clay. We had to chip in under the car to get bottle of jacks under there to pop the wheels out of the frozen mud. ⛄

It is the style of joint in the suspension. They aren't used much except for by people that need that style of joint because of this.

I used to clean my climbing ropes in the bathtub. Just let it sit in the water overnight, drain the tub and then turn the shower on. That method got a lot of dirt out of it.

With 50 yrs of bending perfectly good sets of wheels, yu blokes are my kinda mates. Just gotta figure the way to cross the Pacific. Mischief Maker sure has a lot of squeaking in the suspension. That would drive me crazy! Definitely needs some looking into.

Good ole urethane bushings. Need to grease them periodically to stop the squeak.

Any time you get into a long travel suspension and big bypass coilovers you'll get all sorts of squeaks, no amount of grease or oil will make it quiet. You just have to deal with it because it's never going away.

For a couple summers when I was a kid, I was working in the oil patch, that had this red clay sand soil, and as soon as it rained it was some kind of greasy snot like that, but everywhere! Funny thing is it could rain no stop for weeks, but as soon as it stopped raining the dust was flying in less than an hour. Cost you a case of beer if you needed help getting unstuck...ironically the summer students got the worst truck (2 wheel drive sometimes) and bald tires. We would use a steamer to clean the trucks, and it was like these old trucks has air lift suspension as hundreds of pounds of mud came off the under carriage.

Robbie, you need to send your Jeep to Matt for a while. You know your gonna be painting his new recovery rig when it’s done, so maybe in trade, they can build a chassis for your Jeep?!
