Ok....well what if she knows I have a crush on her, we're great friends and confide in each other about everything, she has a boyfriend who demeans her and she claims is not the one for her and knows it's gonna end, and she's always telling me I'm "pretty", boosting me up and ALWAYS giving me hints or straight up blurting out things that she wants/prefers in a man and then also things that are dealbreakers. Is she just using me for that emotional validation to fill a gap or is she (knowingly or unknowingly) trying to keep me on the hook so that she can set up her next relationship? Keep in mind, she's NEVER mentioning to me specific men she finds attractive or specific men in general, she's only ever saying shit like "I don't care about talking politics with whoever I'm going to date" or "XYZ thing is a no go. I could never date a guy that's into anime." The list goes on and on, I feel like I know almost 80 percent or more of what she's looking for in a partner...it's like she's knowingly or unknowingly creating a list for me to mentally check and see if I'm ticking the boxes. But at the same time, I feel like it's inappropriate because she KNOWS I would like to date her (if she were single) through my clear interest (others can tell too and told me that they very strongly believe she knows...and I wear my heart on my sleeve...so...yeah she knows). Meanwhile, she has a boyfriend. Would a woman seriously be telling even a friend-zoned best buddy friend who she knows likes her ALL the things that a man in her life MUST have or must NOT have? And then be boosting me up saying I'm pretty and then recently saying that I look like I should be in a boy band (in a good way)? IDK. I get mixed messages and obviously am going to keep my boundaries and distance. Instead I got what my mind takes as "Yes, more please". Am I misguided here? And before you say it, yes I AM overthinking this because I'm quite ADD and overthink even the smallest things in life and would be happy to pick up a random stone outside and ponder the small lifeforms living under it. Could use some help on how to navigate this respectfully while avoiding crossing overt boundaries but still all the while me being confident, assertive, and open about what I think about her and if she's merely being nice or, because she is SUPER DUPER LOYAL, doesn't want to push things but likes the attention and what I'm giving her. I miss all the hints except the one where she literally jumps on me and says she wants me. I will never act on subtle hints, and I am quite sure I have missed out because of it. I can never be sure if the hint is real or my imagination, and will never risk acting on it. Yes I am a single and have been for quite sometime. have even been approached in a club, but I never know why and have absolutely no 'game'.
