A Marble Yogurt Cake has swirls of both vanilla and chocolate cake. Perfect for those occasions when you can't decide which type of cake you want. This is a wonderfully moist single layer cake. It is really good without the Chocolate Ganache so you could just dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar or unsweetened cocoa powder. But I love it with the Chocolate Ganache, which is a smooth and creamy mixture of semi sweet (or bittersweet) chocolate and heavy cream. The cake can also be garnished with chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts, or hazelnuts) or chocolate sprinkles (I like Cacao Barry Vermicelles Fins Chocolat).

Hi Stephanie, I just made your chocolate chip yogurt muffins. I was 2 table spoons short of the yogurt so I used 2 tablespoons of sour creme. They are the best moist muffins I've ever made. Wonderful recipe. This recipe is a keeper. You are the best baker on KZfaq ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I’ve made all your yoghurt cakes. This one is hands down the best in my opinion. Not that others are not great but the texture of this one is just amazing! I make it often without the chocolate marbling, just the vanilla. Thank you so much 😊

I love that Stephanie addressed people complaining about recipes not working. It most definitely is your oven if your cake is under-baked or too dry, it's not the recipe, it's your equipment. I have followed Joy of Baking for many, many years and Stephanie's recipes and style is in everything I bake. My family and friends love everything I bake and my Mom will always say 'I'm guessing this is a Joy of Baking recipie?' Whenever she enjoys a slice of cake.

I humbly report that mine turned out dry. I see some thing to try - my pan is darker, maybe the oven… Any other suggestions?

It maybe so, but I watched this video 10 times to make sure I did everything I as suggested. I was so disappointed the my cake come out like dry cornbread😔 I bake every day, never had this issue.

I made this cake today. Very good. With temps well over 90 I used what I had on hand. I didn’t have yogurt so substituted sour cream. Didn’t have heavy cream so frosted with a frosting my mom made all the time with unsweetened chocolate and condensed milk.

Stephanie….I ran into a bit of trouble when I melted the chocolate. It melted well but I forgot to add the tbsp. of coffee/water. Would it have made a big difference if I had just omitted the coffee/water altogether. In the end I added Hershey’s cocoa to one of the batters as I didn’t have any extra chocolate for the recipe. It worked out well too.

I love using scales. They’re so easy and save washing all those annoying cups and spoons! I made your chocolate yoghurt cake and it was delicious, so I have no doubt this will be doubly delicious! I must do a couple more banana breads first as I have way too many bananas but will do this once I catch up. I haven’t figured out my oven yet (been here 8 years). Even with a thermometer in there. I think a spot that’s hot one time is cold the next time. If I put a cake in for 50 minutes, sometimes it’s ready, sometimes it takes about 30 minutes extra. I have a new microwave that’s also a convection oven so I’m going to start baking in that instead. An extra bonus of doing that is that when I move (hopefully soon) I’ll have an oven I know well from the day I move.

Stephanie, instead of using baking chocolate, can I use cocoa powder. If so, how much for this recipe??

With the chocolate yoghurt cake there is 50g of cocoa, so I would think maybe 25g for this one.
