Tried it and it's amazing. I was so close of buying the xbox controller for PC but got dualsense because of JSM.

Can someone help? I’m using an 8bitdo Bluetooth adapter to connect my Joycon to my pc but only the one is syncs while the other doesn’t. Do I need a different Bluetooth adapter?

Thanks! It's on my radar, but not a high priority compared to a game prototype and some videos I have planned. I was thinking that if I do make a GUI, it'll probably be a separate application that interacts with JoyShockMapper. In fact there's no reason someone else couldn't do it, since it's easy to send commands to a simple application like JSM :)

So I have EasySMX Pro controller and the only way JSM program detects gyro moment is if I set it as DS controller (using betterjoy) The thing is I can see gyro movment in the program but it still dosn't work... any idea how to fix that? also, If I try to connect it as pro controller or anything else, It only detects buttons but no gyro (or the left half of my controller, really weird)

excuse me, i love this tutorial, but setting up joyshockmapper for linux, i don't know how to run the codes in terminal. I was wondering if you had a tutorial for that with Debian 11? I've been having a hard time doing it myself

Finally got to try out Joyshockmapper and I'm pleased with initial testing. I think the flick stick will take some practice but I'm liking it so far. I love Steam and discovered that you can setup your Steam config and Joyshockmapper config to work together. So I'm using my Steam configs with flick stick. You just disable the right stick in Steam and then in your joyshockmapper config set gyro sensitivity to 0 and remove all button keybinds and only set the flickstick. Also, my preferred controller is the Switch Pro Controller that I connect via usb. I noticed joyshockmapper won't detect the Pro Controller via usb. However, Steam will and once it does then joyshockmapper will too.

Hey! That's really interesting. I'm glad you're enjoying it! 1. Using Steam alongside JoyShockMapper -- great idea! That totally makes sense. Steam is super useful for setting up mappings and stuff, and having JoyShockMapper just for the features it doesn't have makes sense. 2. Switch Pro Controller via USB -- that's an interesting one. Normally when plugged in, the Pro Controller still communicates via Bluetooth and just charges by USB (even on Switch!). But Switch has the option to tell the controller to communicate by USB, and I guess Steam can do that too? I should look into that. And you're saying that once Steam has connected to the Pro Controller by USB, JoyShockMapper works with it? Because that's really handy! I remember trying to get it working over USB and failing, but the code's still in there.

Yep! Latest versions should have an example in the on_reset or on_startup text files, if I remember right

Just tried this with titanfall. Generally it works well, but its giving me a little bit of motion sickness with the screen rotation lol

is it possible to split the gyro controls of both joycons or at least map the gyro controls to buttons? I would love to do something like Ring Fit, so I can assign one joycon's gyro for running (all mouse axis input with a big dead zone equals W) and the other one for normal controls. Some games allow remapping the mouse controls, some don't. If not I would just need another software which remaps the mouse to buttons, so the gyro controls "moves" the mouse which then "moves" the button, right?

At the moment JSM doesn't provide any way to do different things with the gyros from each Joy-Con, except to ignore one and do mouse-movement with the other. So you could probably do it with another program like you describe, but you wouldn't be able to have gyro aiming work at the same time.

i'm having some trouble with the software. no matter what I do, it won't recognize my Nintendo switch joycons. I have tried and succeeded with the Nintendo switch pro controller but not the joycons. I've connected them through Bluetooth and did everything normal. Any idea whats wrong?

Curious, would it be possible to get DualShock 3 Sixaxis working for JoyShockMapper? From what I've read, the controller does indeed have gyro capabilities, but I'm not sure if it's as flexible as the other controllers mentioned here. I've already tried to see if it could work with JSM right now, and unfortunately it didn't detect it, and understandably so, since it currently doesn't have native support for it.

I don't have access to a DualShock 3 or Sixaxis myself. Some online resources seem to indicate that it actually only output gyro in one axis. If that's the case, it wouldn't be capable of the kind of precision and responsiveness seen here. I'd be interested to one day get one and investigate it further myself

Any level of functionality is better than none, frankly, but I would love to see some potential use out of the Sixaxis, if anything. But if all else fails, the inevitable upgrade to DS4 or other gyro controller would be the best bet.

Hello. I am having issues and well, since this software is pretty unknown i could not find much online. But the input does not seem to work when i'm in game. In any game in fact. Works outside perfectly but not at all the moment i open the window for the game. Ideas..?

One reason for this could be that you're running games in admin mode, in which case JoyShockMapper would need to be running in admin mode as well

I love what you are doing in this space! I stumbled upon your great project after feeling unsatisfied with the keyboard and mouse control for Halo Reach on PC. However, I have trouble getting it to work for my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. I followed your steps precisely but it didn’t work for me. 1. I connected the Switch controller to my laptop via Bluetooth. 2. Halo doesn’t work with it at all so I had to use x360ce emulator, which works fine (rumble doesn’t work for some reason) JSM part: 1. Got JSM 2. Found the config for Reach (Yes!) 3. Pasted the config into a txt 4. Swich Pro controller is connected (Tried both with and without x360ce) 5. Ran JSM and loaded the Reach config (my mouse pointer started moving slowly up even when the Pro controller is stationary) 6. Didn’t calibrate gyro (don’t know how) 7. Ran Reach but gyro and buttons don’t work. (without x360ce enabled, the controller is completely dead) Can you perhaps help what I am doing wrong? Thank you so much! I missed this generation of console gaming (PS4 & Xbox One), however I am sucker for portable gaming so I have both Vita and Switch. It is a huge surprise to me that Xbox One doesn’t even have gyro sensor in the gamepad and people didn’t really care for it on PS4 either. I first used gyro aiming in Golden Abyss on Vita and then Wolfenstein/Doom/Warface on the Switch. It has become a second nature to me and I refuse to play games without it. (Doom 3 on Switch doesn’t have it!). Having said that however, I thought Nintendo’s Splatoon’s implementation was too rigid and cannot be customized so I never really got into it. My burning question is, why don’t developers make the gyro/accelerometer control a standard/option in all of their games? From the look of things, Xbox Series X won’t have gyro in the gamepad either, I guess that will make my purchase decision a lot easier now for the next generation of console gaming. Great project! More people should use it!

Hi David! Thanks for the kind words :) Did JSM say it had any devices connected? You said the mouse was moving even when the controller wasn't moving (that's normal when it's not calibrated) -- does the mouse move in response to turning the controller as well? My first guess is to try running JSM as admin if you aren't already doing that. If you are already doing that, try running it not as admin. My guess is that Halo is running at a different level to JSM. By the way, to calibrate, just put the controller down and press and hold the HOME or CAPTURE button for a second. That should stop the mouse moving when the contoller isn't moving. Yeah, it's a real shame that Xbox Series X looks to also have no gyro. As for why don't developers make gyro standard, my guess is they don't realise the potential it brings, and they feel that the controls we've already had for close to twenty years are good enough. We've just gotta keep telling people about gyro controls, showing what's possible, and eventually it should be embraced :) That's my hope, anyway!

@@JibbSmartGD Thanks for your quick reply! After taking your advice running with/without admin mode, it magically worked for me! I can use the Switch controller as a mouse in Windows now. However, when I boot up Halo Master Chielf Collection, the Switch contoller no longer works, neither in full screen or window mode. (I did change the "mouse sensitivity" to 1.6 to match the config) I think I am close! I will try Warface on steam after downloading the update to test some more. Cheers.

Warface on Steem works perfectly!! Flick stick will take some time getting used to though haha. Halo Reach, unfortunately still doesn't work for some reason...

@@davidwong4350 Glad to hear Warface is working! I'm sorry with/without admin mode didn't fix Halo for you. That's really weird. It worked fine for me a few months ago, but I don't have it installed anymore to try it out. Do you know if other tools like Steam Input or reWASD work with Halo?

@@JibbSmartGD Yes, I just tried reWASD yesterday on Halo. It actually worked but the Gryo felt really off. JSM's gyro movement was very intuitive just like on Nintendo Switch's Warface. Using reWASD, however, for horizontal movement, I had to tilt the controller like I am flying an airplane. Vertical movement was good though. I will try again later!

Hi! You're welcome :) I love gyro, too! The 3D controller overlay is not part of JoyShockMapper, I'm afraid. It's something I've made to help with videos, but it's kinda hacky and not useful for other people yet. To have gyro only enabled while the left trigger is pressed down, add this command to your config (or just enter it straight into JSM): GYRO_ON = ZL GYRO_ON will override any previous GYRO_OFF setting, and vice versa. ZL is the name of the left trigger in JSM, because that's what Switch controllers call it. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

Hey, just got this setup for quake using a switch pro controller. There were a lot of issues, but I seem to have gotten them fixed. I have some questions though. First, is there a way I can set up some axial deadzones on the right stick for when I flick? I find that I'm very bad at turning 180 or 90 degrees, I'm often more than 15 degrees off, so I'd like some large axial deadzones to help me do right angles. Also, when I do the sweeping thing, where I have the stick all the way against the edge, and I rotate it to look around, it's not very smooth, it kinda jitters a little bit. It's not a huge deal, but I'm wondering if there's a way to fix that.

Hi Justin! At the moment there's no way to set up axial deadzones for flick stick. But I see the value in the idea and will look into adding it. Same with smoothing rotation of the stick -- no options for it yet, but since it already does a tiny bit of smoothing internally (more for the DualShock 4 since its stick data is much lower resolution), it should be a simple thing for me to add manual control over the smoothing. I've just uploaded version 1.5, which adds snapping to cardinal and intercardinal directions as an option, as well as the option to adjust the smoothing threshold for rotations to add a little bit of smoothing if you want.

Hello, I am trying to use your program with joycons. Unfortunately, I have not had any luck getting joyshockmapper to recognize my duel joycons on there own. I was able to get the program to recognize a Xbox controller, but no matter how many times I RECONNECT_CONTROLLERS, the joycons will not show up. Do I need some other program for windows to properly recognize the joycons before I can use them with this program, or is there some proccess to get it to recognize my joycons which I need to run through before it works?

Hmm... Usually when this happens, someone is already using BetterJoy or something similar, which hides the Joy-Cons from other programs. You might have to whitelist JoyShockMapper

@@JibbSmartGD I have attempted to use WHITELIST_ADD to do as you suggested, and I have ensured that betterjoy is not open and running while attempting to use joyshockmapper. Still no luck. Windows says both joycons are connected in Bluetooth, but the only program that recognizes there existence is betterjoy. These joycons are official Nintendo controllers. Is there anything I should look at that might help determine what the problem is?

I have connected them. I needed to connect one to the program at a time. For some reason both at the same time did not work, but I turned one off and RECONNECTED_CONTROLLERS, and the one remaining successfully connected. Then I turned the other back on, and now both seem to be functioning properly. Thanks for your speedy assistance.

It's called JoyShockOverlay. I haven't got it ready for release yet, but I'm working on it. Hard to balance my free time with other stuff (JoyShockMapper improvements, etc)

Hi, Jibb. I recently got a Switch Pro Controller and have been trying out JSM with it. I really like it but the gyro sensitivity is a bit less than I'd like. I know I can't change the sensitivity values in my config file because that would mess up flick stick. Is there a way to change the sensitivity of the gyro only?

Hi! Gyro sensitivity is set using GYRO_SENS or MIN_GYRO_SENS / MAX_GYRO_SENS. See _3Dmouse.txt in the GyroConfigs folder for an example. All my configs also load up this config so I can change my sensitivity in one place and it'll be the same in every game. This sensitivity is on the natural sensitivity scale. So a sensitivity of 1 means turning the controller in real life will turn the camera the same amount. A sensitivity of 2 means the in game camera will turn twice as fast as the controller, and so on.

Can it uses gyro for 2 players, or only 1 player will be able to control gyro? Like split screen game.

JoyShockMapper can't send separate gyro input to different players, because all controllers get treated as a generic mouse. But if a game properly supported gyro controls and split-screen, that'd be awesome!

Xbox controllers don't have gyro sensors, so unfortunately it doesn't work

I haven't tested it with any third-party controllers. If I had any, I don't think it'd be hard to add support, though. And I've heard people have had success with some, but I don't know which

I'm having a rather odd problem with JSM. When I open the .exe the window appears and says only "Welcome to JoyShockMapper version 1.6.0!" it does not state how many devices are detected or anything else. In fact I don't have the ability to type in the application/cmd line. I've tried it with a few different configs and versions now and I've run the app as an admin by right clicking and selecting the option. I think it may have something to do with my system rather than you app, but do you have any suggestions? I'd really love to try it out, I think it would be a great way to get a PC in my living room;)

Hi, thanks for reaching out! That's very unusual, but not completely unheard of. What happens if you start it without controllers connected, then connect your controllers, then try the command RECONNECT_CONTROLLERS?

@@JibbSmartGD I tried that and the controller did connect! I also noticed you uploaded version 1.6.1 with usb support for the controller, previously I was trying to connect it that way which explains many of my errors. So far it is working great! I've got to do some fine tuning, the initial settings sent the mouse into the lower right hand corner of the screen without moving the controller. I'll try and upload a new config for Civ VI to your wiki! Thanks for the help!

well they emulate the same mouse so no i assume you could do one gyro and one normal controler

As Imply said, there's just no way to separate the gyro-mouse from the real mouse. I think there might be a few games out there that let you choose a different device for different players. This might work, but because JSM isn't identifying as a connected device, there may not be a way to isolate it to one player. I would LOVE to see this implemented in games. I can't wait to one day play split-screen gyro + flick stick!

It doesn't officially support 3rd party controllers, but a lot (not all) work just the same as 1st party controllers. I think there are a few people using 8bitdo sn30 pro plus (or similar) with JSM

That's not part of JoyShockMapper. That's something else I'm working on that's not finished yet, called JoyShockOverlay.

Will you make a video about how Steams Input API compared to JoyShockMapper from the latest June 19th Beta update adding “Flick Stick” like support? I’d like to know your thoughts on how Valve has finally implemented yours and Nicolas great work. So far I have no idea how to do it on Steam as Valve doesn’t make their API beginner friendly.

It could be that you are running your games in admin mode, in which case JoyShockMapper would also need to be run in admin mode. Or it could be that you're only playing games that badly handle combined controller and mouse input. What controller are you using?

ZR = LMOUSE R = Q R3 = GYRO_OFF I think that'd do what you're asking (assuming 'Q' is your keyboard bind for melee)

Hi, just go to your _3DMouse.txt file and make it say RIGHT_STICK_MODE = AIM instead of FLICK. There are some settings to tweak for the stick control, too. Or if you want JoyShockMapper to ignore the right stick you can do RIGHT_STICK_MODE = NO_MOUSE. There's lots more info in the README.

Can we use Dualshock 4 controllers via Bluetooth now too? It's been about a year since this video and I never play my PS4 controller on PC with a usb plugged in, I always connect it via bluetooth so I don't have that obnoxious wire hanging out and disconnecting randomly because it's so flimsy. Also I would love to see this work with Master Chief Collection since that's what I've been playing a lot recently. I see that it works with Halo: Reach in the configs but I wonder how the other games work. Halo 2 or 3 would be great.

So adding an edit, I'm attempting to set this up for the first time. I have Doom Eternal running, I used the first community config for Doom Eternal and set the in-game sensitivity in the config file to the same as my in-game mouse sensitivity (changed it from the default 40 in the config file to 3.7 in game, not sure what number it's supposed to be since my horizontal and vertical sens are both set at 40 so bit confused here since the video says Mouse sensitivity which is the lower number) So I have the DOOMEternal.txt file in both the GyroConfig folder and my Autoload folder, I loaded up JoyShockMapper and it recognizes my PS4 DS4 controller both wired and wireless via bluetooth. It shows all of the inputs I'm pressing on the controller, but when I have Doom Eternal loaded at the same time no inputs work at all. It's like my controller isn't even there despite the program running in the background. I've tried both wired and wireless modes, nothing seems to work. Not sure what I am doing wrong exactly but troubleshooting and trying to see what I am missing. After typing RESTART_GYRO_CALIBRATION in the JSM program and holding Left Trigger I can get the mouse to move on my desktop, but it still won't work inside of Doom Eternal. Going to keep testing. Also want to add that I have tried turning on Playstation Controller Support in Steam and turning it off. JSM recognizes the controller running on the Desktop either way but turning on and off PS4 DS4 controller support in Steam while the game is running seems to make no difference in getting everything to work. Edit: It seems like the last step I am missing is loading up the modified config file into JSM. I have tried dragging and dropping the .txt file I've edited and saved for Doom Eternal but nothing seems to appear in JSM when I do this. I just mouse drag and drop the .txt file into JSM window at the bottom line, then hit Enter like it says in the ReadMe and nothing happens. Double Edit: Seems that comment below me about typing in the path manually worked for getting the config loaded. Some reason dragging and dropping doesn't work for me either, not sure why it works for some and not others. So it works now after turning off Steam controller support for PS4 controller. Annoying part is the gyro sens is super high despite being the same in the config file as ingame mouse sens (which is 3.7 for me). Also the left joystick doesn't move my character around and I'm using the top/first community config file for Doom Eternal, not sure why there are no movement keys? Another Edit: Ok read the rest of the config page and I see that there's different choices for movement, but the WASD keys are not included by default because you need Steam enabled but need to disable everything but analog stick movement (which is something I don't know how to do so I'll have to figure that out later). For setting up one game this is a long and frustrating process. Getting my gyro aiming to be comfortable working while also having all of the keys and inputs match what I want seems like it's probably worth it in the end, but something that will take several visits to get done. Usually for something like this I just get frustrated and have to come back later when my mind is fresh. I could see this method of controlling games being very popular if there was an easy way to get games configured and controlling with your inputs quickly instead of taking hours learning how to set up and get things working. Sad that there isn't this amount of UI and ease of access like the Steam controller say has but for something just kind of brought into existence it's very interesting. I'm sure i'll come back to it later but for now it's just so much easier to use a mouse and keyboard for now unless the game really calls for a controller like say Death Stranding or something. I have a Steam Controller, PS4 and Xbox One controller and more and I've found that the Steam Controller is nice, but overall it's just easiest to use a mouse and keyboard for games that require good aim, and then a PS4 controller for games like Dark Souls or whatever. I am assuming that's how most people feel in this day of PC gaming, but I love that the Flick Stick could potentially become popular if it's much easier to set up and configure and use.

Sorry it has been so frustrating getting DOOM Eternal working. This is an unusually difficult case because they have multiple sensitivity settings and because in this particular case I'm demonstrating combining Steam and JSM. Most games and most configs on GyroWiki are much easier to set up. A GUI is planned in future, but probably as a separate application. Adding a GUI would make it take much longer to add new features, but it's very simple to make the GUI a separate app that can create configs and send them to JSM.

I fell in love with using DS4 with gyro in cemu emulator. I got so excited when I found this, but then I seen it only worked for wired DS4's. Broke my heart. Will there be a future release supporting wireless DS4's?

There will be! I can't say when, as I'm juggling a few related projects at the moment. My priority was to get it working at all, since those who prefer wireless can at least give it a go. Steam should work with wireless, I think, though it lacks some features I think are important (eg: flick stick, good acceleration) settings

JSM doesn't officially support it yet -- the controller only communicates wirelessly by default until the Switch tells it to change to wired mode. I've heard if you change it to wired mode through Steam it'll work wired with JSM, but I haven't verified it myself.

Run the program and then only set up your gyro settings. For example, just set GYRO_SENS = some number to activate gyro and set your sensitivity

If you mean the mouse is moving without you moving the controller, you'll need to calibrate it (that should be in the readme). If you mean returning to your neutral controller position and the camera or cursor isn't where you want it, it's best to have a "gyro off" button

​@@JibbSmartGD now i disabled the camera movement in the right stick in steam input and i'm using only the flick stick in the JSM, thanks for making all those flick stick videos, now i feel i can play better with this config. The long press timing and config in general is really better than mine or even SC API in general, it's kinda weird how long it takes to register the long press; and i was making another button mapping but i e-mail from wikidot don't appear to me at all so i can't join the wiki, i'll try to join another time

@@JibbSmartGD From what feedback I get on the Sinden Discord, playing such a game with a lightgun is apparently impossible because of "relative vs absolute mouse input", since in classic / typical lightgun games you have a fixed screen where you can shoot in any corner, whereas in this game the field of view changes when you move the mouse. Help and forgive me if I just don't understand it but since the Sinden lightgun emulates a mouse why is it not possible to change my field of view with it as well? I wouldn't shoot an alien hiding in the upper left or lower right corner of the screen by shooting in the corners but would move my lightgun a little bit so the alien in the (former) upper left of the screen is now the center of the screen. What's your opinion on that if I may ask?

@@raymondreddington1878 I don't know how Sinden works internally, but it's likely setting an absolute mouse position rather than sending a relative mouse movement. Many games that deal with relative mouse movements will set the mouse position to the screen centre over and over, so they probably just wouldn't work with Sinden. If it's absolute, it's not dealing with the kinda stuff JoyShockMapper normally deals with, so I don't think JSM would be able to help

I always have a button to disable the gyro while it's pressed. Sometimes it does something else as well (tap to crouch, for example). All games with gyro controls should have a way to disable it -- it's almost as essential as mouse players being able to lift the mouse off the mousepad (and serves the exact same purpose).

This is such a cool way to control your games. Is there a way calibrate the 'default' position of the dualshock? I find I am constantly looking up at the sky due to the angle I hold the controller naturally.

Thanks! The default position is entirely up to you. Some games take the direction of gravity into account, but they're intrinsically less reliable and consistent than pure gyro-only controls. JoyShockMapper doesn't care which way you hold the controller. It doesn't know what up or down is -- it's all about rotations relative to wherever it's pointing at the current moment. So, if you have a button to disable gyro, you can hold that while moving your controller into a more natural position. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any trouble.

I have just tested an 8BitDo SN30 pro+ controller. The short answer is yes, the gyro does work, but only under specific circumstances. First I'll explain exactly what worked, then I'll explain what didn't work in my testing. What worked. • Have your controller unplugged from the PC and turned off (you can turn it off by holding start for a second or two). • Hold Start and Y until the lights flash back and forth. • Plug your controller into the PC by the USB-C port at the back of the controller. At this point only the player 1 light stayed lit for me. You should now be set up correctly. To check, load JoyShockMapper. It should detect your device as connected. If you load the Windows.txt profile into JoyShockMapper the gyro should instantly control the mouse, but you may need to eliminate a drifting cursor by the usual method (RESTART_GYRO_CALIBRATION and FINISH_GYRO_CALIBRATION). What didn't work. • Using the controller wirelessly under the Switch input mode (connecting after holding Start and Y). Maybe there is a way, but I could only keep it connected in Switch input mode with the cord plugged in. • Using the controller under X-input or D-input mode (connecting after holding Start and X or Start and B respectively). While these connection methods do allow for wireless connection, JoyShockMapper will not detect the controller in these modes.

A few people have been having problems with dragging the config in, so I need to fix some problems there. If you can try typing in the relative path, that might fix your problem. Eg: GyroConfigs/Overwatch.txt

JoyShockMapper only works with PlayStation's DualShock 4 and Nintendo's Switch Pro Controller and Joy-Cons. Steam can do it with the Steam Controller and some popular third-party Switch controllers. There are some other controllers that have the features but expose them in different ways (bespoke software that converts gyro to mouse movement). What controller are you hoping to use?

Hello! I love this idea but I am having some issues. When connecting using my Joycons, Gyro does not move the mouse and does not seem to be detected but all of the other buttons are detected. Any ideas on how to fix this? Also, do switch pro controllers and ps4 controllers have to be connected through Bluetooth? Love your work and thanks.

Hi! PlayStation's DualShock 4 is supported very reliably by USB, but some people have been having trouble with Bluetooth not working properly. I'll keep working on that. Switch controllers work best by Bluetooth, but the latest version has experimental USB support. Have you set up a config that uses gyro? If not, entering the command GYRO_SENS = 1 should get the Joy-Cons controlling the mouse. If that's not working, let me know :) You might be to calibrate them if the mouse is moving on its own -- put the controllers down, enter the command RESTART_GYRO_CALIBRATION, wait a couple of seconds, then enter FINISH_GYRO_CALIBRATION.

@@JibbSmartGD Thank you. I typed in GYRO_SENS = 1 and it did nothing but then I thought that it could have something to do with the fact that I am using a laptop with a trackpad. So, I connected a mouse and tried it again and now I have verticle mouse movement. Is there any way to have horizontal mouse movement as well? I guess this does not play well with trackpad mouse movement. But now I can see how it works so thanks for the help.

hi, i have some kinda issue maybe im not doing it right but when i inject the txt the controller (dualshock 4/PS4) doesent act as the cursor and inside of csgo (i have raw input activated) it just spins really fast and i cant look around, if you have any ideas i would be very happy! thanks :D

Is it spinning even when you're not moving the controller? You might need to: - Disable controller in CSGO's settings; - Make sure your config's IN_GAME_SENS is the same as the game's sensitivity; - Make sure you're calibrating the gyro (put it down and press and hold the PS button for a few seconds).

You should be able to enter the command WHITELIST_ADD in JoyShockMapper so HidGuardian lets it see the controller and then RECONNECT_CONTROLLERS

If I had one suggestion, it would be to add another feature to the button that disables gyro. When the button is held, you can move the camera up and down with the right thumbstick. I would prefer if there was a button to recenter the camera, but that's not really possible without messing with the game's code. Also is there anyway to change the sensetivity of the gyro without messing with the flick stick sensetivity? It's too low for me

Thanks for the feedback. You can make it so that while a button is held the stick changes to traditional aim mode. Eg: E,RIGHT_STICK_MODE = AIM Gyro sensitivity can be set by GYRO_SENS. When flick stick is calibrated correctly, this is a real world value. For example, GYRO_SENS = 1 means the in game camera turns the same amount of your controller. GYRO_SENS = 2 would be double.

@@JibbSmartGD So I typed in GYRO_SENS = 100 in my preset. didn't actually change the sensitivity at all. There was no difference with the gyro. Bur R,RIGHT_STCIK_MODE = AIM did work. So thank you for that. No idea what's happening with the gyro sensitivity though. I even check jotshockmapper and it says that gyro sensitivity is *100. So I don't know what's happening

@@teneesh3376 It might be getting overridden by something later in the config. For example, _3Dmouse.txt sets MIN_GYRO_SENS and MAX_GYRO_SENS, which overrides GYRO_SENS

Disregard my last comment. I figured it out myself. Though to be honest, I prefer stick aiming in conjunction with gyro aiming. But if I had to choose between stick only aiming or gyro aiming with flick stick, I would choose the latter. The main thing that flick stick is missing is a button to centre the vertical like splatoon. But I completely understand why this isn't possible

I gave Aim Lab a go today. Spidershot. Alternating Mouse, single JoyCon, DualShock 4 until I had completed 10 of each. My best with the DualShock 4 was 30126, my best for a single JoyCon was 28317. I'm more used to playing two-handed, and one hand on its own isn't steady enough for me. For comparison, my best mouse score from 10 attempts was 37582.

@@OneHandController Yeah, there are a few parts to it. JoyShockLibrary reads the input from DualShock 4, Switch Pro Controller, and JoyCons. Reading the Switch controllers was adapted from an open source JoyCon driver for vjoy, but was otherwise written by me. JoyShockMapper is the application that converts that input to keyboard and mouse input. I wrote that. And I made the 3D controller overlays I use in my videos, too, but that's not available publicly yet. But I can't imagine how much work it is to make your own controllers! You must be doing hardware and software, right?

By default it communicates exclusively by Bluetooth even when connected by cable. The controller has to be told by the device it's connected to to communicate over the cable, and I haven't implemented that in JSL yet.

If you're talking about flick stick, look up "ROTATE_SMOOTH_OVERRIDE" in the README. It lets you adjust the smoothing threshold, but not by a lot at the moment.

There's no second program required. Sometimes it helps to run in admin mode. Are you sure you've enabled gyro aiming by setting GYRO_SENS to something greater than 0?

A couple of possibilities I can think of: 1. If you're calibrating by holding down a button, I've found the Home button to interfere with the gyro when it's held for some reason. So when I release it, the calibration is wrong. I don't know if that's what you're doing. 2. If you're using gyro alongside traditional stick aiming, your right stick deadzone might be too small, and it might be the stick that's actually dragging down

Try typing in the relative path, eg "GyroConfigs/config.txt". At the moment it doesn't like long paths or non-ascii characters

I have followed the steps and at the moment I connect the joycons, the PC detects them separately I do the button test but it does not take the gyroscope and when I enter the configuration of a game like quake the gyro still does not react, and within the game The buttons don't work either ... Is it a problem doing it from windows 7? I've been a while and there's no way

Hmmmm... This is unusual. A couple of questions for you: 1. Have you tried running JoyShockMapper as admin? 2. Are you using first party Joy-Cons or third party Joy-Cons?

@@JibbSmartGD It gives me this `` 2 devices connected´´ and then I start by pressing buttons on the joycons and it recognizes them, but I move the joycon and the cursor does not move even when pressing the button `` home '' the gyroscope calibration comes out and nothing, and when I drag the quake configuration it does nothing either ... With the pro knob exactly the same. I play with the pro controller on steam specifically because I am a gyroscope lover but I always wanted to be able to play with the separate joycons pointing with my right hand as I usually do on switch....

when i run the program the inputs come across as they should but when i turn on remote play the gyro movements do absolutely nothing and the controller functions like a normal controller.

@@JibbSmartGD i've spent all day trying to tweak it and find out why either my controller worked with no gyro or it got cut off completely but inputs showed an active gyro. the only reason i've been trying to figure this out is I've been seeing a lot of people on apex playing on playstation using gyro somehow. I hope we can find a workaround soon 😢

Has anybody not been able to get the gyro to work? In my situation I tried using a Switch Pro Controller but when I loaded up Windows.txt, moving the controller around would not affect the mouse at all despite the R Button working as mouse click and the Right Stick being able to move the mouse. If it helps, when I first load up Windows.txt but before I've recalibrated the gyro, the mouse drifts down and to the left, but once i've recalibrated the gryo, the mouse remains motionless. Pre and post calibration no movement of the controller affects the mouse in any way. If anyone has had a similar situation and found the reason for it not working, please get in touch.

Follow up: After playing a game on Steam with the Pro Controller, I tried JoyShockMapper again. This time when I loaded Windows.txt, the gyro acted as a mouse as intended. I'm not sure why this made a difference at all because during my first tests where the gyro didn't work, the buttons were as intended, so it's not as if the controller just wasn't connected. I'm not sure on the consistency of this method either. If I end up with more data over the coming weeks then I'll report back with my findings.

@@HoleSam Sorry it's been giving you some trouble. Steam's probably doing some stuff that JSM's supposed to be doing. It's weird, though, because this isn't a problem I've encountered. I'll try to find out what JSM should do differently, but in the meantime, trying it with Steam first might be a reliable workaround.

I think your work here is going to accelerate growth for better gyro and stick controls in the gaming landscape. I'm quite excited for you and all of us who benefit too. By the way, when I got it working, I tried it out as both a mouse for windows and in a first person game and I must say it feels so natural once it is set to my preferred sensitivities that I actually want to play more games on PC now. You'll definitely hear back from me once I'm more certain on what triggers it to work or fail on my end.

Most racing games will only do analog steering through some kind of controller input. For now, JoyShockMapper only fakes keyboard and mouse input, so I don't know of a way to get gyro steering into racing games, I'm afraid. Maybe Steam Input can do it?

@@codforlife That should be all you need (assuming you're not including the " marks). Someone had this problem recently in the discord, too, and I think restarting JSM fixed it? I don't think 32-bit and 64-bit should behave any differently from each other. It could be worth trying running JSM in admin mode, but that shouldn't be neceesary... I'm not sure what else to try at this stage :(

Are you connected by Bluetooth or USB? Some people have trouble with DS4 Bluetooth, and I'm hoping to fix this soon, but in the mean time USB should always work.

Thanks :) I normally recommend DualShock 4 because I usually prefer to play wired. If you prefer wireless, JSM's support for wireless DualShock 4 isn't working for everyone (yet), so you might be better off with the Switch Pro. A lot of games natively recognise the DualShock 4 with no option to ignore it, so if you go with that you might want to get some software that lets you hide the DualShock 4 from the game. Vyking has a good video on that. Also, if you play on a really high refresh rate monitor, it's worth knowing that the Switch Pro only sends updates 66.7 times a second, which can make things stuttery at really high framerates.

How i use lean/bending movements instead turning the controller like it was a racing whell (really bad way to play, not intuitive at all and maybe the reason why people absolutley HATE gyro gaming) to make horizontal moves? Hi, I'm not turning it like a racing wheel to turn the camera left and right. The 3D controller is shown from above, so the triggers are pointing forwards. It's pointing roughly towards the screen kinda like how one points a Wiimote at the screen to aim. If you would prefer to hold the controller upright so that the underneath of the controller is facing the screen, you can change the horizontal axis by setting MOUSE_X_FROM_GYRO_AXIS = Z. You may need to invert the horizontal axis, too -- I don't know which way it goes by default off the top of my head.

@@JibbSmartGD Are you calibrating through steam or windows, I've tried both but when I calibrate my controller on windows for some reason the inputs won't appear and gyro is still inactive

What controller are you using? It shouldn't matter whether you're using Steam. JoyShockMapper should show when you've pressed a button and when you release it. Does JoyShockMapper detect your device? And did you press 'Enter' after dragging in your config?

@@JibbSmartGD joyconmapper can detect my buttons, but not gyro. I have pressed enter but to no avail. Also I went with the switch pro controller as it had a better battery lol

Did you load a config? Or if you wanna try gyro without loading a config, just enter this command and hit 'Enter': GYRO_SENS = 1
