En el siglo XIX, cuando se dieron las independencias de nuestros países latinoamericanos, lo que hoy conocemos como la República de Honduras era parte del territorio mexicano, igual que El Salvador y Guatemala, territorios que debido al centralismo y por su lejanía de la Ciudad de México era difícil de atender y gobernar, así que eventualmente terminaron desanexándose de la República mexicana. Por eso es que centro america y mexico somos pueblos y naciones hermanas y tenemos tanto en común culturalmente hablando. Ahora sabes porque la música mexicana te llega al corazón.

Spanish and Mexican roots run deep in southwestern USA. Remember your history. That part of the World was Mexico before it joined the USA. So any native from the southwest 3 or 4 generations back will share that culture and music. I love it !!! Thanks Linda for the music. We love you !!

Soy Mexicana y vivo en E.U por los ultimos 20 años. Mi abuelito y mis tios eran Mariacheros escucho esta musica y me recuerda cuando era niña y toda mi familia se juntaba a cantar y tocar. Tambien me recuerda a mi mama. Linda que bella voz increible y que rango tenia. Que trizte cancion cada que la escho termino llorando. Deberas que me toca en lo mas profundo de mi alma.

I have followed Linda Ronstadt music since she started, not too many people can Spanish and English music like her, it's too bad she doesn't sing anymore because of the Parkinson's disease, but I still listen to her beautiful voice every now and then.

Tal como dice San Tiago, se crio en un ambiente latino. Ella nacio en Arizona, Descendiente de alemanes el padre, y judios holandeses la madre. Tiene un album que se llama ''Canciones aprendidas de mi padre'', todo en español, con mucha musica mexicana. Aparte de ser una gran cantante es una artista versátil y completa.

Chari, gracias por apreciar nuestra musica Mexicana, estoy seguro que es por nuestras raices mestizas de Espanol e Indigena, como dice el dicho, la sangre llama; a mi me pasa igual, me encanta el Flamenco,y la Buleria. Mr. Olson, it is a fact that music reaches all of us whether we understand the lyrics or not. I remember when I lived in Mejico, there was a lot of music broadcasted in English. We couldn't undetstan what it meant but we loved it. What a joy when we were able to understand it!

@@jesussilva2461 its disrespectful to use “Mejico” instead of its original and correct way to spell “Mexico” perhaps you didn’t know the correct way of spelling that proper name, but it’s wrong to use the “J”. There are couple of names that follow this rule: Ximena, Don Quixote, and that’s how it should be used.

I grew up listening to my father singing mariachi. I idolized his voice, dress, and corridos. Luis Aguilar movies. Vicente Fernadez. Yes, Linda has a great voice, but to sing mariachi, it takes more than a great voice. You have to have passion and mariachi style. Of all her songs, "Crucfijo" instantly became my favourite when I first heard it. The lyrics are evocative of so much pain and the vocal textures and subtleties her voice had acquired as a result of "Penzance" are amazing. Much stronger vibrato in both her lower range and on those high notes which absolutely pierce my heart. I've listened to it hundreds of times and not only do I never tire of it but also I discover more nuances each time. This is when she actually "learned how to sing" (according to her memoir) and the difference is so notable. I've never seen that kind of vocal evolution with any other singer (Streisand is still Streisand). Love Linda to bits and I think of her every day

I used to loved Linda Ronstadt sing she was great, I love when she sang with Aaron Norville they were great together.

Linda es LINDA. She was born in Tucson Arizona and although she does not speak Spanish, she sings and pronounces each word impeccably. Her Mexican roots run deep. I never get tired of listening to her because she sings with so much heart and her musical range is incredible, both in Spanish and English. It is sad to see Parkinson's silence her, but we were blessed to have all the wonderful music she recorded that we can listen too. Mil gracias Linda, eres una mujer hermosa de persona tanto como su musica.

Carmen Touhey It doesn't make any sense for Linda to boast such a flawless command of phonetic spanish and not understand a great deal of its semantic and linguistic meaning; after all spanish is a very accesible language. As I tell many of my non-spanish speaking gringo friends so as to get them to learn: IT'S NOT MANDARIN CHINESE FOR CHRISSAKE!!

She does speak Spanish, well, Spanglish, lol. But you're right, you wouln't believe Spanish is actually her second language when you listen to her sing our songs with so much heart and enunciates perfectly

I say this.....though she may have different backgrounds of family.....The MEXICAN side of Linda Ronstadt comes out of her to the extent.....IT'S "IN" HER......AND IN HER "DEEP"!!! It's VERY hard for me to accept the fact she didn't speak it that much as well as she DOES FLUENTLY "SING" IT "CORRECTLY" AND WITH SUCH PASSION!! She's a Musical GENIUS and one of the GREATEST in Her Field!! (NOT to leave out BEAUTIFUL!!! GORGEOUS!!!)
