Recently, I took a trip to New Orleans with the team from Victus Sports. As we finalize the design of my custom bat (...stay tuned btw 👀), we spent some time at the Baseball Performance Lab to test and assess the science behind my swing (speed, power and more).

Damn...just learned about the Hamate bone today. Never thought about how many bones in the hand and how such a small injury in a small bone can really set you back as a baseball player.

Hamate is a common baseball injury. And it can take a while for players for fully recover. Could take years sometimes to fully regain strength. When the knob is rested in your hand, you sufficiently increase the risk of a hamate injury, but you get more control of the bat. It's why some guys like Mookie use as axe handle bat so they can get as low as possible without the knob putting pressure on the hamate. It's interesting stuff

NGL all the tech and that is cool....but watching a pro conditioning coach and some one that understands bio mechanics talk and go over things with a pro athlete and seeing the understanding and instant corrections was my favorite part of this. I wish when I was training (different sport) I had the chance to do that....just listening to him and seeing the back and forth was awesome!

Interesting to see the science behind it. I'm an EMT and the company I work for has the Everett Aquasox EMS contract. I remember working a game a couple years ago when Julio was playing for them before he got called up. I never knew who he was but the minute I saw him hit I knew he was going to be called up soon and he was. Glad he's playing for the Mariners.

Dude is already my favorite player and hasnt even gotten the full GO yet. I think he wins Gold glove, MVP, ROY award, Silver Slugger and RBI title in his Rookie year because of the coaching and surrounding players in Seattle. I don't know if that's ever happened before but who cares?! I think he is that good and he's a Mariner.

I love the F.M.S. (Functional Movement Screen) I started incorporating that in my training about 10 years ago and it changed the game. It allows any weakness and asymmetry to be uncovered.

Good stuff! His swing reminds me of a young Gary Sheffield. Maybe it's just the hitch, & high EV. Would love to see him add a higher leg kick and keep the hitch to unlock optimal launch angles. Small sample, but here's Julio's numbers thus far (5-15-22) with an 8-34 degree launch angle: BABIP: .534 ISO: .455 SLG: 1.000 xSLG: 1.199 wOBA: .670 xwOBA: .766 In summation: Study Gary Sheffield!
