Considering I'm color blind... yeah no thanks. I'm glad he didn't go through with it. I also like Porygon. Glad it's getting the spotlight this video. Unfortunately, I can never use it because of the ridiculous requirement to get it... 9,999 coins at the Game Corner is far too much effort and time consuming that I end up giving up on it.

As someone who has watched literally this entire series, I totally understand the fatigue of explaining badge boost glitch every time, but I also know how important it is for new viewers. I think it'd be a good idea to have a text box graphic that you can paste into the side of each video when you mention the glitch that explains it briefly. That way they can pause it if they're curious, and if we already know we don't really need to pay attention to it. Glad you're still doing these, you're doing the Lord's work!

I have bittersweet memory of Porygon: Before any guides, I did the legit gambling to "earn" Porygon from the game counter as a kid, no joke on Pokemon Red. Thinking that Porygon has to be some all powerful digital god pokemon worthy of a party spot and that amount of time. After all, they made it so expensive and kinda hidden in a way. When I got it, I was so disappointed I didn't play for a week. And if you asked my parents 1 week of not playing was crazy because I always had a a gameboy color in my hand and a pokemon game in that gameboy color. Later on in life, I participated in small prize online pokemon tourney's and won around ~$1000 over a year (don't quit your day job) with a trickroom Porygon 2 with eviolite. Which is still 1 of my all time favorite pokemon to this day. I nickname all my Porygon 2's "Digital Ducky" because they're all cute computer rubber duckies :D Thank you jrose for the vid and to anyone that reads this. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

Goldeen normally gets Waterfall very late, at level 37 which is generally the point when Jrose gets Surf in his Water-type Pokemon runs. Obviously, Surf is a better move (it has 10 base power more), but I can see HM03 being used as a Max Ether of sorts for Waterfall (Waterfall is not that much worse, so it may make sense to replace the move when its PP gets low).

Almost half way there. That's pretty cool. Also, for Conversion. Even if the AI isn't silly, you're trading 33% of the damage you deal on STAB for a 50% damage reduction from the opponent's best attacks. And with the AI manipulation stuff, you can trick the AI into just not using its good moves at all. Sounds pretty strong to me, even if coverage and buffs are more important. And that's without factoring that you're not using normal type attacks much with Porygon. Mathematically, you gain a number of turns by using it against any opponent that isn't one-shot by your attacks.

Porygon is such a cool Pokémon and I’m happy to see you using it in its original form! Spoilers below: I did have some thoughts (not necessarily criticisms). If one could hold on to Conversion for Erika, then using that could exploit her “good AI” and make her Victreebel use PoisonPowder repeatedly, as was seen in places like Oddish and Bellsprout. Also because Psychic is more or less useless vs the champion, I think using the Tri Attack TM could have gotten better damage outputs vs Alakazam, maybe half. Of course I’m always excited for a new Jrose video and I’m excited to see what comes next!

I was really excited to see you do a solo run for Porygon since near the beginning of the Red/Blue solo series. Porygon really doesn't get a lot of love in general, so it's really nice to see some love here. That being said, it's interesting to see the challenges Porygon faces compared to other Pokémon. Having only normal-type moves really is a pain when facing Brock. 😅 Also, you really went crazy trying to defeat Surge without healing; it'd be so much easier to just walk to the Pokémon center and heal to get rid of that burn. In addition, it seems like Porygon struggles the most with Kadabra/Alakazam. It's pretty cool to see Porygon rank 26 on the tier list so far. I also like names you gave to your character(Polygon) and your Rival(Sprite).

Let’s go been waiting for this one the porygon line is my favorite line in all of Pokémon because the line is good in battle grate in design and great in the actual, Pokémon’s backstory and concept. And Pure normal is by far my favorite type in Pokémon. Porygon original isn’t the best Pokémon to be fair but the later ones if you teach psychic on it, it covers it’s only weakness, and you get download gen three onwards and if you know your opponent and play it right you basically get a free special attack boost on switching in which basically makes it’s electric psychic and Ice coverage moves hit for stab equivalent damage. And there’s very few Pokémon in the game that are able to resist tri attack thunderbolt psychic an ice beam.

For the Agatha fight and getting 4 consecutive hits after being confused, the odds are actually 20.5%. This is because you also have to account for the increasingly smaller likelihood you stay confused. So turn 1 is a 50% chance, but turn two is a 62.5% chance you won't hit yourself in confusion because the odds you will hit yourself in confusion is multiplied by the 75% chance it's at least a two turn confusion and subtract the resulting decimal from 1 to get the odds you won't. Same deal for turn 3 except 50% and then you multiply them all together and you get that result. For reference the odds that you'll stay confused 4 turns AND break through each time is 1.56%. (I'm obviously assuming that the odds of each number of confusion turns are the same, feel free to correct me if anyone knows differently but I checked some mechanics explanations and none I've seen imply that it's weighted towards a certain number of turns).

I honestly think Porygon is severely underrated. I’ve always enjoyed its design as well as Porygon 2, and it was a lot of fun trying to obtain this creature in the game. I honestly think that the anime episode could easily be fixed and edited so it can finally be released. There’s honestly no real reason to keep it banned anymore when a simple editing fix can easily resolve the major issues of that episode, just have the og English dub cast reunited and with the other banned episodes fixed up, we could finally have a complete series released on blu-ray instead of an incomplete series with episodes banned for outdated reasons.

You talked about freeze being permanent unless hitting with fire. Fun fact, freeze is also the only pokemon status that doesn't have a non-damaging guaranteed status application. Like thunderwave, toxic, swagger, will-o-wisp, spore. If you count flinch then it is an exception, but fake out when successful always causes flinch.

I did miss your videos, because I often use them to fall asleep... Now don't gimme wrong, i don't mean that they are boring, it is more that i feel confortable watching your vids and your voice now feel reassuring to me after all this years, and i love the feeling of rediscovering a game I deeply cherish Just a comment i hope you will see, to let you know that you are important to an insomniac stranger

Still in Vermillion during this comment, but I actually think Conversion could be super useful. These solo runs are usually tough because you have fewer options. But Conversion gives you room for a little extra strategy in battle.

Looking at its move pool the TMs it gets access to should make conversation obsolete.

When the video first started I thought that it was just gonna be THAT color pallet the entire time so I switched to my greyscale filter immediately and gave a sigh of relief when you mentioned that it was just for a bit at the beginning.

I love the fact that Jrose chose a colour pallet for the start of the video that may give you a seizure, just like what happened in the Porygon's episode from the anime.

That 3-D glasses color palette was indeed jarring, but the second one was actually one of my favorites so far

I normally appreciate the high energy of your vids Jrose, but today your slower cadence and deeper voice just hits different. I look forward to every one of these runs, keep it up!

Don't know if it would be faster, but there is neat strategy for beating Koga (and Sabrina and Silph Rival as well) at very low level with Porygon. Basically if you keep Sharpen and Recover, and get Swift, you can stonewall with Recover and max out Attack, and then sweep with Swift. Especially with Koga it's really neat because his accuracy lowering moves have no impact on that strategy. Truth be told, it's probably faster to go aggressive on Agility and Special moves like Jrose did, but Sharpen + Recover + Swift/Tri Attack + any if the special moves (Psychic, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt...) makes for nice strategy for challenge to finish with as low level as possible

Its honestly pretty amazing that, Pokemon shamed Porygon for THAT incident, despite it being Pikachu's fault, that Pokemon not only made an evolution the very next gen, but to add a couple gens after added another. It gives off "it wasnt their fault despite what the public says so heres some more"
