Dark colors in general roll the best.

I really wish people with quit with the whole "urethane isn't for house shots" line like it's a rule. Bowling is about matching the ball, your speed, your revs, and the lane conditions. Barker's first shot could have gotten to the pocket with more speed, and his second could have recovered with more revs. Does the reactive look better? For Barks in this situation, yes. But not every bowler is Barks, and not every house shot is Carbon. For players with higher revs, a typical house shot boxes them in pretty badly. Playing straight is just not feasible - reactives will hook too early. Moving in and creating angle is the obvious next move, but throwing anything right of 10 is going to bounce the ball really hard, which tempts splits. Moving in even further and shimming the ball to the pocket by having it exit the oil left of ten is a dangerous game as well as it forces you to stay up the back of the ball to get it to not overhook. You have to play a pretty tight line 99% of the time. Urethane addresses all of these easily. It responds well to hand position changes, doesn't overreact off of dry, and gets fantastic traction in puddles. It's hands-down the best coverstock possible for blending out wet/dry conditions, which is exactly what a house shot is. I get it - it doesn't work for a lot of people, but spouting off maxims like this is just lazy and irresponsible. It misguides viewers by giving them rules with no context, that they then repeat and follow without even knowing what they're saying or why they're saying it. It's the same thing with people blaming urethane for carrydown [it's the lack of core flare, not urethane]. You guys should do better than this.

I've always thought any solid or pearl black/red or a combination of both colored bowling balls rolled the best historically, but purple is def up there!

I think it's indisputable that purple balls roll the best. Purple hammer, purple tank, damn good verge, infinite physics, all amazing purple balls.

Im in favor of the Dark Code 4K color which is a really Dark Midnight Purple almost Black. Getting great results with that and the Infinite Physix pin down. Good work Barks on the review, really enjoy your relaxed version of the descriptions of what is happening when your rolling it..

I think solid color balls are better than swirl. Purple, black and blue are best colors. This looks alot like the obsession tour solids motion.

I find solid black balls roll really well for me. Track stealth has been my go to as my strike ball in league this year.

Solid colored dark balls are my favorite, whether it is blue, black, purple, etc...

Ninja Fury in pink was my favorite for years, but really liked the Melee Hook in dark blue in that last few years.

I personally like 3 color balls like the axiom, phaze, and I want to get a proton. But if it's a 1 color ball, it's gotta be black or navy

I'm personally a fan of black bowling balls. They always seem to roll well.

Tricolor swirls and solid white usually roll the best for me.

I use my pitch black on house all the time… works great just pisses of everybody else on the pair

So the very first shot you threw in the video, it hooked a little too much. So instead of moving right on the approach, move up on the approach to get it out on the lanes a tad bit further, and shorten the distance to the head pin?

My highest House Shot average ever in history began when I started using the new Brunswick Purple Hammer exclusively on house. No resin ball ever matched the consistent week in and week out scoring of the Purple Hammer.

I noticed on a few videos the core numbers didn't exactly match what I looked up on the internet for 15 lb balls. But it sounds like you're willing to 16 lb ball, so I guess that makes the difference

I wouldn’t argue that purple rools well , but the bowl in my bag that seems to roll the best Is a combination of lime, green and green apple

Dark colors in general for me. Purples, blues and black. When I think of most of the G.O.A.T level balls in history almost all of them have one or a combo of those 3 colors

I stopped bowling in 2006 I was averaging 230-240 in league 210 in tournament sport league bowling at the age of 16. I'm now 33 and thinking about getting back into it. My arsenal back then was Brunswick Inferno, Storm XXX factor, Columbia 300 Storm Trooper, Brunswick Zone Classic, Ebonite V2 Clean, Storm Core Power, Columbia 300 Big Bully, Hammer Big Blue Pearl and not once did I know what my rev rate was, what cover stock I was using, what the core was or what it did and yes I lugged everyone of those balls with me to tournaments and I was also sporting Dexter SST 5's as my shoe. All I knew was that I was a natural at bowling, I could read a lane, I could make any ball work, and I bought balls because they looked cool not all this technical stuff. I guess my point is none of the reactive, hybrid, pearl cover stock matters if you know how to bowl. I'm sure it helps some bowlers to know what their rev rate and cover stock is but for me it was all about if the ball was made for what oil I was going to be bowling on.

I think he purposely made a weak throw with the urethane. Why is it so many people are having success using a purple urethane on house shots but he says they don't go hand in hand. He wasn't hooking it that much and a hammer urethane will hook more than that

Until somebody actually studies whether or not different colors roll/ perform differently, while correcting for the numerous variables that affect ball roll, any declarations that Color X is "better" than Color Y, are nothing more than confirmation bias. The fact that Bowler A had 3 purple balls that rolled well for him doesn't "prove" anything, and guarantees absolutely nothing for Bowler B. Correlation and causation are not the same thing....

Please stop with the urethane hate. No ball type is universal. Everyone is different, so blanket statements like "Urethane is not for house shots" is disingenuous. The Purple Hammer didn't work for YOU because you have very little hand. For someone with more revs (like me) that Purple would get up and smash the pins, plus it allows me to stay away from the cliff.
