Yeah he's not trash cause he can definitely score especially when he gets in the paint but I don't agree with him having a bigger role on a team with Ingram and Zion. He should not be your number one option on offense unless he has to be. When the Pelicans were playing really good he looked very comfortable playing off everyone else and not forcing things on his own. I think using him the same way next season will help everyone and will also allow him to focus more on defense instead of forcing him to do everything like Alvin did in the beginning of the season where he looked bad. The next head coach should definitely make everyone's role really clear.

Jrue’s best attribute is his ability to not get moved off his spot easily which allows him to use his long reach to get deflections. It’s like he has a sense for knowing his range and when he can/can’t swipe at the ball. The key is his lower body strength and core are other worldly for someone his size. When have you ever seen LeBron get stood up on the first bump by a guard when he posts up? Never. Their legs are the same damn size lmao.

A smaller kawhi on defense with great hands n similar strong stocky build ,athletic but strong stiff wich helps a ton on defense holding there ground n stayin infront of the ball n picks the perfect time to poke the ball right out 💪🔥

I trust him to lock up the best perimeter player on the other team. Bro is a 6’4 point guard weighing probably 215 at most playing great defense on LeBron. He played great defense on KD two years ago. I trust him to guard the bigger players and only being a point guard. So slept on as a defender. Very smart and very great defender at his height and weight class

Jrue has to be one of the smartest basketballers on the planet. Top 2% on defense, top 20% on offense. I love when bigs get a "mismatch" on him in the high or low post. I imagine Jrue licking his lips, especially on stiffs like Gallinari and Porzingis. It is the epitome of: "GIMME THAT!"

4:39 shows a sequence that highlights perhaps the most valuable perimeter defense skills i the entire nba. Not only does he completely dodge the screen to force the ballhandler back to his weak hand but then he completely didges the screen again from the back side to recover and uses his length/quickness to block the jump shot. This defensive impact is only surpassed by the leagues best rim protectors.

If I'm the Heat, I'd seriously consider taking this dude. As much as I love Goran Dragic's game, Jrue would be an upgrade over him because he's just as good offensively & significantly better defensively, plus he's got zero ego so chemistry won't really be an issue.

@@elderassassin9673 if it's to clear cap to get Jrue, I'd do it tbh, he's just that perfect for the Heat imo. Sometimes you gotta make the bold moves to push the team over the hump. That's exactly what LA did in the offseason, and we're now seeing the fruits of that as they just won the title and have firmly positioned themselves for title contention for the next few years or so.

I don't think he'll be a fit, a dude who thinks too highly of himself but doesn't have enough game to back it up. Oladipo? Terrible fit as well, another on-ball scorer who would just halt Herro's development. Giannis? As great as he is, unless he somehow magically develops a jumper, I think he'll be a bad fit because Heat are all about spacing on offense, and having him & Bam together on the floor? That's a recipe for disaster in this pace-and-space era. That leaves Kawhi & KD, both of whom I think would be perfect for the Heat, but they're still big question marks as of rn, depends entirely on how their teams perform next year.

On my list of "Defensive guards" Jrue and Marcus Smart are currently the two at the top, and it's really close tho Smart has a very slight edge due to him being slightly craftier. (not taking anything away from Jrue, who plays a more methodical style of defense) Before any of you guys argue for Ben Simmons, I do have him on my list, but I have him listed as a wing defender.
