@@ashwinjohn4319 actually, syriac catholic church never gave catholicose title. Cyril mor baselius gave himself that title after becoming major archbishop. Syriac patriarch consecrated him as major archbishop as it should be appropriate for a patriarch from antioch. Catholicose is same rank as major archbishop, but it is not seen anymore in the west. In fact, syriac catholic church doesn't even have a catholicate anymore. Even syriac orthodox church in 1860 synod forbid giving catholicose title. When jacobite church came out of indian orthodox church, the patriarch then recognized title for the new head of jacobite church in india.

@@arthurengland2796 Because the Malankara Catholic church is a sui juris (self governing) church within the Catholic communion. The Patriarch of the Syriac Catholic Church gave their maphrianate to the Malankara Catholic Church.
