@@creeper79.26 The 96 Stock have the same traction Inverters as the Class 365’s, 465/2’s, 465/9’s and the Class 466 trains but different motors. They’re all made by Alstom.

I call that the 1990's Signature Tune of the London Underground, and the South Eastern Networkers built around the same time, it is caused by the traction equipment resonating at certain frequencies when driving the AC motors that move the train. Older trains before the 1990's generally used DC motors which did not generate any resonating frequencies of this sort.

How come the 1996ts makes that noise when the 1995ts used on the Northern line (which looks fairly similar to the Jubilee line stock) doesn't? Are there major differences between the two stocks?

stephthestar90 different traction motor suppliers I believe. One is alstom not sure about other. If you look on Wikipedia look up London underground 1995 stock and 1996 stock should tell you

stephthestar90 The 1996 stock uses GTO traction inverters which is the same as the ones used on the class 365’s, 465/2’s and 9’s and the class 466 trains and the 1995 stock uses IGBT traction inverters. But they do have the same motors as each other as you can hear when they’re both at speed. It’s the two completely different frequencies that the two inverters make on the two trains which is why they sound different when pulling away or slowing down at a train station.☺️

they are both Alstom i think its just that the 1995TS has a newer motor which has the JUBILEE LINE MOTOR vibe removed

It’s just the the 95 Stock have IGBT Traction Inverters and the 96 Stock uses GTO Inverters just like on the Class 365/5’s, 465/2’s, 465/9’s and the Class 466 trains which is why they sound different from each other but they have the exact same motors as each other as you can hear when they’re both at speed.

Great video.☺️ The best train in the world and my most favourite train ever built. The 1996 TS that runs on the Jubilee Line is the best train that Alstom ever designed followed by the 1995 TS that runs on the Northern Line.☺️👌🏾

Appearantly they're new plans on moving them to the Northern Line by 2030 when the Jubilee Line gets new stock.

@Joe Schmo The 96 stock and the 95 stock look the best and most attractive and has the best motor sounds as said by many people too including the current Mayor of London apparently too.
