I think the reason he turned her down is the “awww that’s adorable” look she gave him when he’s opening up and being vulnerable sharing his deep feelings about a depressing time he went through. He probably felt he wasn’t being taken seriously so I don’t blame him. Guys don’t want our experiences to just be “adorable” we want you to take what we say seriously even when it comes to feelings. Just be understanding and not give us a look of “awwww”.

I love this! The biggest problem in dating is that people don't take the time to get to know each other. A romantic spark after meeting someone for the first time shouldn't be an expectation. The reason people "fall in love" after answering these questions is that they've both shared some depth of who they are. This causes a connection. I think if the expectation is that they fall in love it denigrates the experience. We need to redefine how we meet others and communicate who we are to each other. The tea setting is beautiful. There are boundaries: sitting across from each other at a small table, and the presence of the people filming and providing structure. Dating is a free for all and it seems the goal is sex. If you do that it's like going from step 1 to 20, and there's no going back. Intimacy changes the dynamic of a relationship. We need to take the time to go through each step, getting to know each other, learning if we're on the same page with what matters most, or non-negotiables, such as faith, morals and values. Guidance through a series of dates would be helpful and change the whole dynamic. This has been on my mind for a long time, so I've put a lot of thought into it. My goal is to write a book.

Being attractive is a huge factor. If these questions are guaranteed to make two people fall in love, then they are proven to make two people friends as well. Looks is a deal breaker for everyone. You can't be intimate and utterly in love with someone you don't find physically attractive.

What? That's literally clinical narcissism. It's not even about a relationship, about connecting, it's about ME, ME, ME. And bizarrely, not an insight, but truly regression to the worst part of infantile childhood. He relates this relationship to having previously been 'chubby', but again, its never about the partner, or relationship, but his own state. When Briar complements his eyes, he DOES NOT RECIPROCATE. Instead, he just complains that he wishes he had blue eyes. Again, ME, ME, ME. Briar mentions trying to focus on him and positive qualities while they stared at each other, but from his response, it's clear that his first thoughts always return to him--even int he context of this exercise. Even when they are asking what he liked about her, he mentions she seems open mined---and I think too much about the past....okay, the question was not ABOUT YOU. LOL. Lastly, he is so superficial that he basically dismisses a romantic connection outright. That's fine, but his willingness to dismiss someone who has been vulnerable with him, shown empathy, and complimented him, without even the possibility of just hanging out a second time.....shows just how deeply shallow and ego based this guy is.
