True. I think holistic healthcare is amazing for certain chronic health conditions, or if you're someone who typically responds poorly to drugs (I have a liver disorder that makes taking most meds dangerous). But if you need to remove a tumor or you have a heart attack, you'd better see a regular MD. Everything has it's time and place.

I love how all the “holistic healers” think they know the nuances of becoming & being a medical doctor... It takes 8-15 years to become a board-certified Physician AFTER college. These guys study RELENTLESSLY for YEARS, literally, all to help serve the public. I encourage all “natural healers” to enroll in the classes that are prerequisites in order to get into medical school.. 1 year of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physics, biochemistry; all with labs. Try learning the basic building blocks of medicine and in a year, I’d love to hear their take on all these questions being asked again.

We are still shocked , that bloody chemotherapy had killed him ! Yeah the lady who said she has never had a positive experience with a doctor is just being silly. I mean every doctor she went to was racist? Every one? Sometimes people carry their expectations with them and it obscures their judgment I think. Modern medicine has benefited humanity in so many revolutionary ways. But we can’t dismiss the other side either because healers, shamans, witches, etc actually have a much longer history. They were the first doctors. A lot of that knowledge has been lost unfortunately. That doesn’t mean everyone who claims to be a healer or every remedy is going to work. I would say some of it is just wishful thinking but sometimes on a rare occasion, it is miraculous and goes beyond what traditional medicine is capable of.

@@welshieranger4697 What I meant is that no legitimate alternative medicine practitioner would prescribe freaking herbs for a car accident. They'd tell you to go to the hospital like anyone else because they aren't idiots. My point is that there are different ways to treat different things. A legit holistic practitioner is not going to tell you that their treatments can solve everything and never to use western medicine. None of the people in this video said that and none of the doctors I have ever been to say that. You seem to have a caricature of what you think a holistic practitioner does in your mind and I am saying that it's wrong.

I very much believe in using herbs because they have helped me with several health issues. But I still go to medical doctors for issues as well and inform them what I am doing. When treatment and further tests are suggested by my medical doctor regarding anything, I do my research and I make the best decision for myself. Most of the time I do turn down medications, depending on what it is. Most meds I have taken in the pass have given me issues due to side effects. So if I can take an herb to do the same job without the side effects, then this is great. Not all herbalists/holistic healers think the same. Yes, I want to go to the emergency room if I am in a car accident. I think you all are being extreme thinking these people wouldn't want medical intervention if in an accident.

Because the doctors have to remain professional no matter what in all situations. Everyone wants to sue a doctor. On top of that if you get in legal trouble for anything in the medical field practically all hospitals and most offices throw you right under the bus without thought. I agree but I think that some of their calmness, especially the medical professionals' calmness has to do with how much they have to lose in their profession and the backlash they will receive from their offices if they don't keep their cool. The medical field will throw you under the bus if you don't keep up the impressions they want - complaints about a doctor being 'hostile' to an opposition like an anti-vaxxer can be damning to their reputation and paint more dire pictures about who they are.

As someone from a country with universal healthcare, I can't help but think some of them oppose it because it threatens their ability to become ultra rich. Opposing universal health care because VA offers low quality care and Beverly Hills doctors provide top notch care is *exactly* why universal healthcare works, it breaks down barriers. Americans pay more than any other country for worse care and it saddens me to see.

YES. I was actually surprised that only one person walked forward...the idea of universal healthcare has become increasingly popular with the American public (not like a decade ago when things were more mixed) but yeah, I think they all stand to lose money if the system changes. I also hate how the question was whether the US should have universal healthcare, all but one disagreed, but when they all sat down they were like "Well of course everyone should have access to healthcare, but..." and then did the whole song and dance about why it wouldn't work in the US. Whether or not adopting universal healthcare in the States would be difficult or complicated was not the question, whether or not we should have it was. And neither are questions anyway...of COURSE transitioning to universal healthcare will be hard for the US, but of COURSE we should still do it, for both humanistic and economic reasons.

Except care in America is much better than care in Canada. The problem is the people pay too much for it. Quality needs to be raised across the board and the government should take that hit. Jessie Lin in my department, we have a student who went to medical school and is a licensed physician in China, and came to the US to study immunology and cell biology to be a cancer researcher. One of her family members back in China has developed the same type of cancer she specializing with in research, and they refuse to take any of her advice and are only relying on ancient Chinese medicine such as herbs, acupuncture, and meditation. The sad part is, if they had taken her advice, the cancer likely could have been successfully treated, but are now likely terminal.

I'm so surprised that almost all of them were against universal healthcare! "you get what you pay for"- countries with universal healthcare still have private options for rich people. The base-line free health care is still amazing, but you can get fancy treatments or super quick treatment at private clinics. "There's a lot of moving parts"- yeah... same with the countries that have universal healthcare. But they still work. It isnt going to happen overnight, but it is doable. The current science doesn't understand their own proofs. So nothing is really proven through science. The superficial layer might be cured only through science, however the energy is where the true healing happens. Science will catch up this decade. As an example Science believes Consciousness is a brain function. It's a force field created by the DNA in your whole body. Once science figure out this, we will have insane discoveries.

And everything that was said against it is just something they are mistaken about: 1. You don't get what you pay for. Theoretically, a universal healthcare should cost the average person more, yet America's costs are so high that no universal health care is more expensive to the average person when compared to America. And I don't mean similar costs that just barely put them over the edge, I mean American's are on average paying a multiple of 2+ more for their health care. 2. They aren't getting higher quality because they spend more. America's health care is frequently placed among the worst in developed countries. 3. It really is that simple which is why it's crazy to say it isn't. If every other developed country can figure it out, including so many that have a worse economy than the US, they should be able to figure it out as well.

Nicholas Sides public healthcare is not perfect, there are lines and there are waiting lists, but your regular “family doctor” (idk how to say that in English) is free: you are sick, you need meds, you can go there and being visited and you don’t pay. More importantly: if you hurt yourself very badly and you need to go to the hospital you can call the ambulance and they bring you to the hospital and heal you and you don’t have to pay. You don’t have to pay for insuline for diabetes and most meds for serious illnesses are free or partially free. If you need for example to be visited quickly there is plenty of places where you can pay and be visited almost immediately and the majority of people uses them, but it remains the fact that if you fall and break your leg and you are in atrocious pain you don’t have to think about not calling an ambulance because it will cost you thousands. Public and universal healthcare in Europe goes along with private healthcare, is not a perfect service but at least no one is left behind.

As an ER nurse, I don't see how one community can entirely discredit the other. Holistic therapy might be what you need for pain management or combating the side effects of western medicine (nausea as a side effect from chemo, etc) as an adjunct therapy, but also holistic medicine won't do too much if you come into the ER with a stroke or heart attack. The beauty of the surplus of information nowadays is that people can pick and chose what works for them day to day but neither side should be looking down on the other profession.

While alternative medicine can be used for more spiritual aspects of the body, mind, and soul medicine that doctors study for years is for superior when it comes to surgeries and other things physically. She probably meant that she comes in informed about her specific chronic illness. After seeing multiple doctors and doing her own research on symptom management it would make sense that she was more informed about her illness and body than a general practitioner who hasn't heard about their condition before. For example, I was diagnosed with POTS by a cardiologist. I've seen dozens of doctors who when I tell them my diagnosis they go: "what is that?". In that case, I come in as an informed person. Some doctors appreciate that, and others don't.
@fekinuhhh3495
@fekinuhhh3495 4 жыл бұрын
Kirsie Lundholm yeah but what happens after you tell them what your diagnosis is? Do they just say ‘well I haven’t got a clue what you’re on about so I’ll just let you decide what’s best’? Yes not every GP is going to know every disease and how to treat it but that’s not necessarily their job. They are called *general* practitioners for a reason, they haven’t specialised in a certain area so wont know how to treat every problem they face. Their job, if they can’t treat your problem, is to send you to a specialist in that area, not let you take your health into your own hands, which is what this woman seems to want to do. So yes you may be more informed on specific diseases that you personally have, but they have access to your medical records and can very quickly and easily decide, based on their years of professional training, how best to proceed, whether that’s to prescribe you something there and then or to send you on to someone with specific training in that field.

This is my thought! Like if it works, why would science NOT be utilizing that? The idea of medicine is that they do everything they can to find PROVEN and undeniable drugs to help fight symptoms or something. It’s not like doctors completely throw out anything that wasn’t made in a lab. Otherwise we wouldn’t have a lot of current medicine. If it works and it’s proven to work, it gets used by doctors. That’s how the scientific method works lol the only issue is that they have to be able to repeat the results for it to “work.” Medicine that is proven to heal people is just medicine. The doctor stating that there are so many moving parts to create universal healthcare that cannot be done, especially financially... There are multiple studies that show the US's current system costs more than to change. We would save 2 to 5 trillion after just the first 10 years. The 2 trillion estimate even comes from a libertarian, fiscally conservative study. The psychiatrist says we have a great administration system that others don't? The #1 cost of our healthcare is our administrative costs and it's inefficient.

To the doctor who said that it isn't that simple, most 1st world countries have a form of universal health care except the US. It is simple but you have to want it and I don't think the US wants it.

Completely agree with you as a Canadian it was disgusting to see how blinded the U.S. is in regards to free healthcare. People r dying simply for not being able to afford basic care or their medicine, it has effected people so much i see them coming here or to mexico all the time just to buy the same medicine at a livable cost. And the 1 doctor saying it isnt easy even though he wants it then list hopital cost is exactly the mentally thats a problem when clearly facts have shown it is that easy becuz its available in most 1st world country, a human life should not have a price ever and they need to realize their system is broken

There is so much misinformation about healthcare and health insurance in the U.S. that has poisoned the well. Thank god for Bernie, he's really shifted the overton window on universal healthcare

@@jacquiec01 It's not free healthcare. It's universal. That's a difference. Because we do pay for our universal healthcare with the taxes we pay. That's, I believe, one of the biggest problem with why the US doesn't like universal healthcare. Many people think it's "free" and think that people are too entitled and just want free stuff etc. when in actuality it's financed using tax money, so it's not really free. It's everyone working together so that everyone can get healthcare, no matter who they are.

Monica B okay yes. I live in the US and it angers me to see only one single person supporting it. Basically, they’re saying they don’t care about everyone’s well being because it’s too “complicated.” I can’t believe how people from my own country don’t even care..

For me, it's a combination of both, dependant on what you're willing to treat. A broken leg obviously requires modern medicine. Constipation can easily be treated by more "natural" means. My psychiatrist and psychologists mix the two as well, using traditional means in modern practices.

I work with physicians every day and everyone here is complaining about the system, however these are medical professionals talking about fundamental human rights... Maybe it's a matter of colture, I don't know, it just sounds unbelivable

as if traditional medicine is not abusive specially towards ppl who have cancer making they pay hundreds for treatment and sometimes they don't even have the right approach and treat ppl as merch. I know two ppl who had cancer one of them the doctor said in her face that there was nothing he could for her anymore. She had to rely on alternative medicine as her only hope and it's getting better. In the other case the person already believed in alternative medicine and she go straight to them and she is now cancer free and guess what? Her doctor didn't charge her anything for appointment.

Just take the best of both then 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hollistic and natural medicine to - maintain health - cure illness that don’t require surgery - healthier healing as there is no amount ( or at least very minimal ) chemical involved Modern medicine to - case of emergency ( accident, broken bone, etc) - necessary surgery - mothers giving birth
