Oh my god guys, this project has been in motion for nearly a YEAR now, but I regret nothing! Honestly, I didn't know what was involved in getting a string quartet cover made, but I just knew I really wanted to try giving it a refined feel. And I've always thought this series felt best as an 1800s stage play/fairy tale, thus some of the main art and ragdolls.
Such a big thank you to Jinty for helping me get this made, her strings are magical. Also, Alan went INSANE on this PV and I legit was shocked seeing the final product. And finally, thank you to the artists for making my weirdly specific requests a reality! I've never had a project not only nail what I had envisioned, but go so far above and beyond it too. I'm so happy I can finally share this with you all!! 😭

I've always loved the lyric "captured by the people she should lead" because it could be interpreted as a sympathiser outraged at her capture and the audacity of the subjects... but also a subject stating how she failed her kingdom by not being the leader they needed

God this song is still so good and the new vocals are amazing. Especially the mention on how the princess didn't dare look at the crowd made me a bit tear up ngl. The way he probably couldn't face his sister who stood in the crowd dressed as him as he takes the blame for her mistakes, knowing that she was just a product of their parents desires forever tainted by a childhood she never got to experience. He really sacrificed everything for her. This series is so good, love your cover

In this context (from first song point of view) she is not like "did not 'dare'" but it is more like she did not even care about crowd and despises the mob so she keeps her proudness as a sin. As she never cares about the peasants.

However, the girl in question, Michaela, was just a forest spirit who took the form of a commoner (Who doesn't even love prince Kyle- Shes Lesbian as hell for her best friend, Clarith) so Juby changed the lyric to suit the facts- thus turning it into "A commoner in Green from a foreign land, or so they tell". ((P.S. I highly recomend you listen to Thousand Year Wiegenlied and Enn Sings cover of Bystander if you haven't already! It goes more indepth on Clarith and Michaela's viewpoints & dynamic lol.))

ok info from a mentally unstable ec fan: 1, Riliane used to be possessed by the demon of gluttony 2, Michaela, aka the commonner of green, is lesbian and is in love with another commonner; Clarith. 3, Kyle, the prince of blue, was possessed by the demon of lust and pride, and saw Riliane as a little sister,and not a lover. 4,The kingdom names: 1.Blue country = Marlon, 2= Yellow couontry = Lucifenia, 3Green country = Elphegort 5, Michaeala and Clarith are actually servants from the Freezis Family 6, Michaela was originally a forest spirit incarnated in human, and her friend Gumillia is the same. 7, In total, Michaela fell in love 3 times: 1. Ok. People keep mentioning the changed Green Lady (Michaela) lyrics (though not with an explanation), so I’mma try writing a dump of information that clarifies the situation. For anyone curious: Alright, so, Riliane, the Daughter of Evil as mentioned, is the ruler of a place called Lucifenia. The prince (he’s actually a king named Kyle) mentioned is a ruler of a place called Marlon. Michaela is a ruler of nowhere, not even the green country (a place called Elphegort). She’s a regular maid that Kyle falls in love with, leading to the genocide of most green-haired women. Well, kinda. Because, while Michaela's not a ruler, she's not exactly a commoner either. She's a (pretty) famous diva (singer) who works for a noble family in Elphegort. Michaela receives an elevated paycheck as a maid for her singing. Compared to others, she's probably pretty wealthy, possibly to the point of nobility/lower nobility. Seeing that she received, like, four marriage proposals from noble men, plus that one from Kyle, she was presumably not viewed as lower-class or regular. What this means is that, technically, Michaela is neither a ruler nor a commoner. She’s, like, in between, but way, way closer to being a commoner than she is a ruler. The new lyrics make a lot more sense, even if there is more information behind the scenes.

Goosebumps from the beginning of the song until the very bloody end. The entire Story of Evil remains as one of my all time favourite settings and I love that it has inspired so many to create these wonderful things.
