Did you guys know about Fred Hampton before this film? Did you know that both Fred Hampton and William O’Neal were both 17 to 21 years old when all this occurred? AMAZING!
I really enjoyed this movie and thought everyone did a great job from the actors to the director! The stand out to me was Lakeith portraying William O’Neal what did it for you and what did you think about this film comment below. 👩🏾‍💻

If William O’Neal was 17 could he even be tried as an adult for those charges?

Most likely, yes.

Part of what makes Fred Hampton such an inspiring figure, for me at least, is that he was so young. 21 years old, but you would never know it. So, I definitely agree that it was a bit weird to see him portrayed by 32-year-old Daniel Kaluuya, but for me, it was almost like they wanted to capture the spirit of Fred Hampton, who always looked and sounded at least 10 years than he was at least to me. Just me, of course. Lakeith Stanfield was... I dunno what that was about. If anything, if they cast an actual 17-year-old they might have been able to capture the naïvity of William O'Neal a bit better I feel. Generally, though, I agree. The movie was amazing and I hope more people go and see it.

Great movie, great review! And yes, the age difference take you out despite the phenomenal acting. My lady broke down looking at Deborah's face at the end but for me I wish we saw Fred's childhood and his rise to leadership then I believe it would have hit harder. But clearly this was Bill's movie. I still loved it ✊

thank you for this in depth analysis also it’s great seeing your beautiful face on the thumbnail !🙌🏾🤩. I too was skeptical about Daniel playing Fred Hampton as you said the British do make it clear that their racial history is not the same as those in the USA but he really slayed the part . I was watching just my Opinion reviews and he had the same reservations but it was so hard to deny Daniels performance . I think this movie introduced a lot of people to Fred Hampton . It’s sad because as you said this is information we have to look for it’s not in schools but hopefully this will change . William o Neal was one slimy SOB.

Thank You 🤔 For talking about the age difference because I didn’t know anything about these men before hand and thought the Bill character was a bit naive to keep being an informant that long scared or not!

It’s changes the story once you know that because the were all kids making such massive decisions! A lot of things were different back then and he was in fear for his life but at the same time had no morals and enjoyed the benefits of being an informant. Thanks For Watching 💕

you can't even say his name correctly smh lmao It's Daniel Kaluuya not David Kuye. If Fred Hampton jr gave his thumbs up for him to play his father people should stop complaining and he did a great job

Good review. But you are putting too much emphasis on the age. Sometimes you gotta ignore that and judge their acting. Aint too many teens can pull that type of acting off.

I actually was not going to watch it but after hearing the true story, I was like fuck it, I’ll watch it. I enjoyed it despite historical inaccuracies (what film doesn’t) it made me respect the Black Panthers (even though there violent tactics were questionable) the problem was is that the real William had no sympathy for Frank Hampton, and despite him killing himself, it was clear he didn’t care what he did. Despite debate with historians. Also I hate J. Edger, the guy was messed up.

Yes he was watching the real footage on KZfaq there wasn’t a remorseful bone in his body he believed it had to be done and the aww the character so conflicted was different but his POV was great to watch we don’t get stories told from that side often

U dropped this when I was watching he movie lol so I had to wait BUT another great review lol Yes conscious black love! 😂🖤 I didn’t think we would get so much of the O’Neal’s POV but I guess that’s a interesting way to shoot this movie. From the “eyes” of the informant without being 100% empathetic for him cause u know to dismiss what he did would’ve been taken very badly lol.

It was great! Each time I thought I had an ounce of sympathy for O’Neals character I immediately snatched it back! 😂 But that’s why I was lingering so much on the age because everything hits different when it’s a 17 year old teenage boy in the 60s you hate what he’s doing but it like wth did he really know at 17 besides I just don’t want to go to jail! It’s easy to forget that looking at LaKeith.

His soul had to be really tortured to walk out into traffic and commit suicide that’s why despite interviews of William O’Neal justifying what he did he’s able to depicted here with a conflict about what he was doing because he had to a conscious😭 🗣 WHY BRUTHA!?!

@@StruggleReviewzTV wow that’s how he did it? 😔 My review is uploading now but I too was like bro 18-21 years old like the contrast between these two at that age lol yea man I lingered on that too after the movie was over.

Hey Tyra, just going down the rabbit hole and watching the older videos i never saw before. Never went to see this movie, i did my own research first and honestly this movie and Lakeith Stansfield's portrayal made it seem like we the audience were supposed to sympathize with O'Neal and his internal battle when the real O'Neal was only out for himself and avoiding jail time. Plus i agree it would've nicer if the directors, producers, casting etc. could've dug deeper into younger actors instead of these grown ass men🤣. If i actually watched this in theaters when it came out i'd be sitting there like "damn, he's 19? whew that's a rough 19" But anyways, to be in this headspace again of what could've been if white America and the government hadn't stopped us and killed off all our leaders man smh. Learning about Tulsa, Rosewood, Oscarville, Seneca Village and so many other prominent black towns where we made our own success and were completely independent, they rioted and destroyed everything beat and lynched us, eventually "legally" auctioning off the land because they were either no survivors or survivors were too scared to come forward or claim it and moved far away. And now the government in certain states are banning this information from being taught, so we're moving even further away from the truth and erasing history that wasn't that long ago.

The main concept of the movie was to show the contrast in thought of people. Fred Hampton was about unification against the system that divided and oppressed the have nots. Was not merely about race, but the distribution of resources . O’Neil was only about the color of money. Which is the very thing that oppress the majority today
