awesome cover of the haunting 1975 Joan Baez acoustic hit. Even Joan was shocked and flattered that Rob Halford covered her song about her early 60's relationship with Bob Dylan. HERE IS THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG"DIAMONDS AND RUST" Joan Baez revealed to The Huffington Post that she wrote this song after Bob Dylan called her from a phone booth and sang her the lyrics to his song "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts." Baez said that this gave her inspiration to write "Diamonds & Rust," and that she lied to Dylan, telling him it was about David Harris, who she was married to from 1968-1973. Bob Dylan rarely reveals much about his songs, but his track "Queen Jane Approximately" is most likely his take on his relationship with Baez.

Rob Halford has absolutely poured his Soul out and bound it with Diamonds and Rust truly creating a version of this song that in my mind, made it this Timeless song in the form it was always destined to become. That being said... and years ago I couldn't comprehend that I would actually say the following ... but.... Ripper Owens on Live in London... Granted he is covering Halford's version more or less... Ripper nailed it... and the closing Scream/ Note/ inflection had the hair on my body standing on end , totally electrified with tears welling up in my eyes and breaking free down my cheeks... so Lamentingly sorrowful, such loss... my words do no justice but Ripper really poured his Soul out and I would almost dare to wonder what experience in life he was drawing from to release that emotional palllet with the song.. Rob Halford , is an amazing singer, the True Metal God that has had a massive effect on my life.. Ripper Owens was a great singer to fill Judas Priest's time while Halford took time after the Epic Metal Album that is PAINKILLER, to deliver us TWO, FIGHT, HALFORD, PANTERA - Light comes out of Black.. and many other amazing works.. Rippers Priest is a group of works that absolutely hold their own in my book and I am beyond happy that he did... Halford , DIO, GEOFF TATE, WARREL DANE, BRUCE DICKINSON, JON OLIVIA, and a few others are such incredible singers with such amazing content in their music. Don't read the rest unless you will read the first part again before leaving. that it sickens me when I have to hear the cRap they shove in our faces with every movie, tv show, dumbass at the stoplights with their trunk rattling with the same repetitive beat vomiting the same mindless nursery rhyme about smacking der bitch up and makin it rain in da club wit da bub getin wit yor boyeeezz gurl cuz he ain't taken care of hiz and I gotstzta getz mine... There's I another shit song missing one word that is repeated 100 times over that I won't say... plus all the yeah uh huh yeah yeah uh uh s...
