This song defines metal. It represents everything that metal is, yet it's so unique. Nothing similar had been done before, and nothing has since.

Just started watching your reaction channel a couple weeks ago. I dig it. Im a 50 yr old hip hop head that grew up in the early 80's with nothing but old school metal heads on my street. They forced me to listen to everyone from Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Quiet Riot, Crue, Dio, even Rush all the way to Metallica and Megadeth. Grew up a block away from where Randy Rhoads grew up. The older teenagers up the street, a mix of crazy white boys and Mexicans that would throw me (i was 10) in a room with the lights off, locked the door on me and played these albums backwards ... lol the good ole days. Grew to appreciate metal but stayed true to my hip hop roots but now when i listen back to metal i miss it and love it! Guess it still has a place in my heart. Keep it up, You guys have a new fan of the channel 👍

KK (short solo) was always second lead and rhythm guitar behind Glenn Tipton (the long solo). The one band member present throughout their history is bassist Ian Hill. Halford left after this one for a number of years to go solo, then returned in 2003. This album was the debut (WOW) of their new drummer Scott Travis. KK retired in 2011, and Glenn is still with them (writing and recording), but no longer touring due to the onset of Parkinson's.

Interesting reaction for sure! You should elaborate on the lineup a bit more though... The core 4 of the band Halford, KK Downing, Glenn Tipton, and Ian Hill were together for pretty much every relevant song the band did from 1974 until Halford left for a few years. Now in their dotage, only Halford and Hill remain. The joke about drummers on Spinal Tap was based on Priest by the way and their propensity to switch drummers as they went through multiple over the years. Cheers guys

If we're talking about Rob being an influencer, then we need to talk about Glenn Tipton being one as well!! One of the top 5 greatest metal guitarists of all time!!! Just for reference, Ian Hill, the bass player, is the only original member of the band left. Until recently, Glenn Tipton was the 2nd longest member from 74 until just a few yrs ago when he was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. Also, Glenn and Ian are the only members to be on every judas priest album.

There were many interviews with Rob Halford over the years where he specifically idolized Ronnie James Dio. Almost all metal derives from the likes of Black Sabbath. Would almost be worth making an interactive chart exploring the lineage of metal vocalists and those they were both inspired by and those they inspired throughout the years. Same for drummers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, etc. They already have a 'Map of Metal' with links to bands and videos divided by genres and which genres evolved from prior genres throughout the years.

Congrats. Great channel. Regarding the song: Robert Halfords had a condition and was prescribed painkillers, opioids, when the time came to cut them (condition solved) he fell the abstinence that comes with this type of meds, so in order to feel ok, he kept taking them, got addicted. After sometime he decided to leave them, fell into abstinence and the song describes part of what he felt in abstinence and his thoughts about opioids, it's a sarcasm. Keep it up. Great channel. Kind regards.
