When JJ always says "talk fast" to someone, that means that based on the evidence she already gathered from the plaintiff's written statement, that person has no case, anyway. So if this guy decided to make a snippy comment, she figured she would rule now the same judgement that she was planning to rule after he presented his case anyway.

I also fail to understand how Judge Judy can blatantly ignore a counter claim. He legally requires his side to be heard so his legal rights aren't infringed upon, unless he signed them away for the show. I don't understand how anyone can sign up for Judge Judy to be honest. "Let me berate you in front of millions for millions for entertainment and fame." Yet people idolize it.

@@samp619 she already knows the counterclaim, she’s a judge and has read them long before they stand there. Plus as you say, it’s a show. They also I believe get their fees paid for by the show, so he’s the real winner. His $5,000 paid off (if it was even a real claim to begin with) plus the small earning he got for appearing on the show. I dunno about you, but I’d certainly get berated in front of millions, in a bit of faff tv that nobody will remember within an hour for an easy $5000+

I could say the same for the recipient as well. To be treated as less than a person is bad for anyone's person so why subject one's self to it, but that's just me I suppose. Also, yeah, I knew she was aware of his counterclaim but it was dismissed without even a consideration for a dumb reason which was my point. To my understanding, you only get up to 5K, tops, if your claim reaches that amount. No party gets more than that, but they can always get less.

To be honest not worth it. My mom was "pulled over" for not yielding to an emergency vehicle. The only thing is, she was already stopped at a red light. Anyway the cop lied and basically said she did not yield. She called him an idiot, and she got a ticket because of it. I said even though he _is_ in fact, an idiot you don't have to let him know that. Just Like Bugs Bunny, how he never lets Daffy Duck _know_ that Daffy is an idiot. Bugs Bunny just plays along until he gets himself out of the mess.

$200 fine for something she didn't do wrong because she called that cop an idiot.

@@actual_doge3221 I get it. But it’s a little different for Judge Judy. The people on there are real but they’re told to exaggerate there personalities to make the show more exciting. Because normal court room procedures are boring. Plus each person gets paid just for their appearance on the show in addition to whatever the judgment is. So the guy still got paid even though he lost the case. PS you should tell your mom to buy a dash cam because it would have saved her in that situation.

@@WavyFBaby We did have a dash cam, but it so happens that the memory card was full, so it was not recording. My mom has been in two accidents, neither of which were her fault. Once was when she was brake checked, another was when the other driver took a red light. During those times we did not have a dash cam, but at this point it just seems like little mistakes like the memory card are things we seriously need to watch out for. Especially since the insurance company was eager to cover the other drivers even though they took off, and she was blamed in court for supposedly taking off too fast, even though the other driver took a red light which caused the accident. (I was actually there for that second accident so I saw what happened exactly from passenger seat.) Now we have cams in all our vehicles and keep an eye on the memory card. Just yesterday someone brake checked her twice (the same driver in our nbhd) and thankfully at least the camera was actually recording this time in case there actually was an accident. Or I guess it's not really an accident if the other driver is trying to get hit right? 😂

he started to talk but was mumbling and not talking clearly. judge judy interrupted him and said lets do it and talk fast. he said im sorry? which basically means what? judge judy said again lets do it and talk fast. he says if you wouldnt cut me off id be able to talk fast. then judge judy asks byrd what he just said and he repeats it and judge judy just says ok judgement for the plaintiff for $5000 and dismissed his counterclaim.
