this guy is annoying. the worst people are the ones who tell you how intelligent they are. i can promise you beyond all doubt that he's nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is. exhibit A: he said he wanted to be rich. she laughed, thinking he was kidding. then she said, "i don't know why people don't just say their goal is to be happy." and he immediately went on to continue selling her on how ambitious he is without processing or acknowledging this pushback on his answer. exhibit B: she mentioned this particular program designed for people aging out of the foster care system three times. he brushed it off and talked about his thing instead three times. exhibit C: the whole time she was talking, his eyes were _locked_ on her face and he was like, "mhm. mhm. right." too much active listening. pull back. i can see you thinking about how you can't wait for her to stop talking so you can talk. he deadass did not hear a thing she said. he doesn't value emotional intelligence. it's meaningless to him. he thinks he's using tips he got online for a job interview, so he thinks he's _killing_ it in this hearing. for the record, the reason he was successful in this hearing is that he had all his shit on paper. he'd gotten the things done he was supposed to. if he hadn't, this exact same performance would have resulted in upward departure or revocation. it was not his personality, because he didn't give any insight into his personality. all we got is his interviewsona. his "publicist," as judge boyd calls it. annoying.
