felt bad for the defendant not only did she have to deal with a family member stealing her boyfriend but also being tracked down by silly girls wanting to fight and then this judgment to pay. Ugh. And then no one asked how she even got her cousin's phone in the first place... just lots of wrongs that will impact her emotionally, especially for a 16-year-old.

Rather than put that $699 into the college fund, the good parents decided to buy their irresponsible pregnant 17-year old daughter a cellphone. Good parenting.

I'm surprised JJ didn't mention a case she had when she was in family court. Years ago I remember an episode like this where it was also a bunch of teenage girls who got together to fight and she told a story at the end of that JJ case about a murder trial she had in family court (because they were minors), a bunch of girls agreed to get together like this to fight and one girl ended up stabbed to death.. This is just insanity especially for 2 cousins to be getting into this kind of drama.

So she teamed up with the ex to jump on her own cousin …. Wow. Bigger girl was obviously insecure, dated after her cousin, got mad at her cousin despite the guy having multiple girlfriends. Teamed up with the other girls to jump on her own cousin . Wow

Had she not admitted it police I think she could've gotten away with it. Personally i would've charged her half in this case. Plaintiff is a whole pregnant GIRL going for trouble. She's lucky only her phone was damaged. If I were her parents I would've made sure she was taking birth control if she was dating someone let alone her own family's ex. The guy won't last and won't be around and they'll be in the same position when he knocks up the next chick. Issue is, the plaintiff is going to be fighting a lot now.

I think it's likely the phone got damaged in the scuffle or by people who don't like the plaintiff and then Irene threw it away. It seemed to be what she was trying to imply before Judge Judy cut her off to read the report that never said who actually destroyed it, just that Irene admitted to throwing it (likely an already damaged phone) away. I felt bad for Irene because its clear her own cousin not only slept with her boyfriend and got pregnant by him but also saw fit to join up with others girls to go assault her. Sad :(
