The moment we push God away in our lives, we replace Him with other things or people. The same was true for the nation of Israel during the period of the judges. Fake gods replaced the one true living God. But as the Lord gave them over to their desires and delivered them into their enemies' hands, they cried out to Him. In this study, we follow the progression of the judges to a man named Jephthah, and we learn why it's crucial to truly know our God and His Word.
This teaching is from the series 07 Judges - 2020 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church

Wow - doing evil in the sight of the Lord - forsaking God and serving other gods - everyone doing what’s right in their own eyes - sounds like America is following in the footsteps of Israel …. wonder what our judgement is going to look like?? Hello Romans Chapter 1… Regarding Japhthah’s vow to offer up his daughter as a burnt offering I wonder why God didn’t just tell him not to do it as He did with Abraham and Isaac..? Maybe he thought his dog was going to be the first to greet him? It’s curious how he knew the detailed history of Israel’s wandering in the desert and yet apparently did not know that Israel’s law strictly forbade human sacrifice.

I do appreciate where you're coming from in regards to the daughter. However here's a good question because he was pretty much a heathen he really wasn't an Israelite even though part Israelite when these heathens make a vow they do it even if it is their own flesh and blood. She went up to the mountain or whatever and she was there for a while and she came down she returned to her father and he did to her according to his word.. That means yes he did sacrifice her. Then it says the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of jeptha. If she was alive and she lived they wouldn't be remembering her and lament and grieving. Because just being a virgin is not like a death sentence. But because he was a heathen yes he did keep his word that he vowed to the fake God and killed her so I have to disagree with you. No he did not dedicate her to the Lord he actually sacrificed her. So basically when they say she never knew a man she died as a virgin

That does not compute. To me, a "gang thug" is not fitting of a mighty man of valor. Therefore "worthless" men in this sense would be men that have nothing, e.g., no house, no family, no money, no skills, no direction, no prospects...basically, nothing to live for. They probably saw that Jephthah was a mighty man of valor and he became their leader (sort of like joining the army). Also, Jephthah was a judge and judges have to know the law in order to judge. I own a NKJV Bible, but that didn't make sense to me. So, I visited the KJV: 3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him. NKJV replaces "vain" with "worthless" and KJV doesn’t mention anything about raiding. Yet the dictionary defines raid a sudden assault or attack. noun. a sudden assault or attack, as upon something to be seized or suppressed: a police raid on a gambling ring. Military. a sudden attack on the enemy, as by air or by a small land force. vain (vān) adj. vain·er, vain·est 1. Not yielding the desired outcome; fruitless: a vain attempt. 2. Lacking substance or worth: vain talk. 3. Having or showing excessive pride in one's appearance or accomplishments; conceited. 4. Archaic Foolish. So it could've been that Jepthah was doing was right even though he was rejected by his brothers from another mother. Furthermore, I believe the moral of this story is being careful what you're vowing because God wants us to keep our vows. Because unlike Abraham, who was being tested by God, Abraham was obeying by sacrificing Isaac for his love of God. But Abraham didn't make a vow; then, God told him not to sacrifice Isaac. Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed- Better not to vow than to vow and not pay. So, that's my humble understanding. Bless God...God Bless!

[person] Who is without doing anything. 2. Que es inútil, sin fruto, provecho ni sustancia. Who is useless without fruit, advantage, nor substance a person of leisure, a person who is idle, useless.

This is a wonderful message in so many ways, but I want to push back on the point you were making around 27:00. Those gods are real, they are not fake whatsoever. They aren't the uncreated, necessarily existing, all powerful, omniscient, omnibenevolent, triune Yahweh, but they are absolutely real. I'm referring to Dr Michael Heiser's work, like The Unseen Realm. You cannot possibly explain what it means that God was chastising the other gods of the Nations and Psalm 82 without them being actual real beings. This passage is incredibly incoherence if they are supposed to be merely human rulers because of the pronouncement by God that they will die like men. Of course they will die like men if they are indeed men, however that really doesn't make much of an insult. I don't believe God would say it against men because men are already men, and they all expected to die like men anyway. God does not merely say fake things. It does not cohere. Additionally if you look at Deuteronomy 32 verses 8 and 9 you see there that when the most high divided up the nation's he divided them up amongst the number of the sons of God. This was him dividing the people after the Tower of Babel incident up amongst his spiritual family so that they might be Regents or administrators over the other nations and Ford their worship on to Yahweh, but they didn't end up doing that, they started to rule over the nation's and usurp the worship of Yahweh for themselves which is why they're being lambasted in Psalm chapter 82.

@Kevin Belgrove how have you been convinced about lashuan qadash? You're not a Hebrew Israelite, you're white, they'd never accept you, unless you are subservient. The original scriptures of the new testament are not in Hebrew, and especially not in the fake dialect you're quoting. That didn't even exist 200 years ago, it was born in New York, with the One West variety of the hebrew Israelite cult. Please look at the evidence from actual hebrew scholars.

@Kevin Belgrove you're not even transliterating the names correctly! Yeshua ישוע doesn't have any letter that would be transliterated with a u after the y in English. It's about as literally as can be y sh u a. It goes directly from yod to shin.

@Kevin Belgrove this is a bunch of poor proof text bombing, with lashuan kadosh nonsense names thrown in that no biblical hebrew scholar takes seriously because it was never a dialect of hebrew, ever, and has only existed in the last couple hundred years. My teachers are actual well respected bible scholars, theologians, and philosophers. Dr Michael Heiser, Dr Michael Brown, Dr Tim Mackie, Dr John Walton, Dr Craig Keener Beth and Avram from Aleph with Beth, Dr N. T. Wright, Dr William Lane Craig, Dr Anthony Rogers, Dr David Wood, Dr Braxton Hunter, Dr Johnathan Pritchett, Vocab Malone etc. The first 10 know the ancient languages, the first 6 are old testament specialists and Semitic scholars who know more than just ancient Hebrew and Aramaic but the neighboring countries languages Ugaritic, sumerian, etc. both unequivocally and soundly reject the nonsense you're talking about. They reject it because there is zero evidence that the names were ever spelt or sounded the way you're affirming they are. None. No respected Semitic scholar will support what you're saying. Not one, because they would be laughed out of the academy for speaking nonsense. Peer review would tear them to pieces and they would either eat humble pie or never work in scholarship again, because misrepresentation is frowned upon in peer review. The trouble with trying to reason with someone like yourself is that anyone who disagrees with you is obviously "taught by Demons" even if they have evidence to back up their claims. You have constructed an impenetrable fortress of circular reasoning and question begging, and and live in the blissful state of unfalsifiable Devine right, while all the poor fools with their actual scholarship just don't know the truth like you do, because after all, you hear directly from God. Esoteric blind mystical self certainty backed by garbage scholarship if any at all. Please do not be taken in by this any longer.
