Can you do more videos on how to get involved in things like the Schutzhund, Ring, protection, and agility for someone who is looking to get started? Legitimate reference materials and websites, what ages to start, appropriate obedience training classes to take your puppy to that will help in the long run, etc.

This would be an amazing video, I think the closest videos to what you're asking for are his Bring Da Smoke videos for now. If you're interested in ring or protection dog sports I would recommend researching the NARA(North American Ring Assoc.) and United Schutzhund Clubs of America if you're in the states. As far as training information online I've had much success with Michael Ellis and Leerburg for training material. These sports come down clubs and helpers near you as they will provide the needed 'looks' or 'images' your dog needs to understand how these disciplines. So +1 on your request from me but don't hesitate to look for the club near you!

IMO all animal laws in AUS need reconsidering, they are ancient legacy laws. E.g. in NSW it is mandatory for all greyhounds to have a muzzle on in public. Imagine that! Greyhounds are such an unlikely to bite breed. And I'm not just talking about dogs. Why are we encouraged to keep European animals as pets? (except for rabbits!) and we're not allowed to keep native fauna? The usual justification is that it will increase poaching from the wild. Here is my response: We are allowed to keep cats, one of the most destructive species for wildlife, no worries! But it's illegal to have a Quoll, even though it would fit into the ecosystem perfectly if it got loose. This is MADNESS in my opinion. Now they do have a point, if we were allowed to keep native fauna at the start there would be some poaching from the wild, but once there was a significant captive population that would stop, because there wouldn't be any demand for it, people would want the tame version. Now what about the endangered species?? Easy, they can keep their status as being illegal to have as pets. Alternatively you could let private owners breed them like crazy and use pet owners as a reservoir for reintroduction. AUS animal laws are fucked up and we need change. I live somewhere with Eastern Grey roos hopping past my backyard. But it's illegal for me to feed and form a bond with one?? But I can own 15 cats if I want even though they will annihilate the local bird population? These laws are outdated and incompetent and they need to be changed.
@animalobsessed1
@animalobsessed1 5 жыл бұрын
Native species being illegal as pets is standard everywhere in the world. I do think it's a reasonable law, since even once a pet market has been established, taking them from the wild, without paying a cent, would always be tempting, and there'd be no way to prove that they were poached. Additionally, people who breed animals as pets would most likely be selecting for tameness (or color mutations), and would therefore be of no help in preserving the species in the wild. As for cats, letting cats roam the streets unsupervised should be just as illegal as letting dogs roam unsupervised. There's no reason to let cats have a special status.

I would love to judge my favourite breed! Although these dogs look very nice they seem a bit loose. Minus that first male going around 2:10. I don’t see a nice tuck, I’m not sure if it’s something you just don’t see with dogs of a certain weight. But I thought healthy weighted dogs are supposed to have that. Also that you should be able to feel the ribs but not see them? I’m not trying to sound like a know it all I’m actually very serious. A lot seem like chunky...🤷‍♀️

Its called docking. You do know most dogs with short tails actually have them cut off or "docked" right? Few breeds have a naturally short tail. Dobermans and Rotties are born with long tails.

Why should you not breed a dog with a missing tooth?
@r.b.4611

If it's a heritable birth defect you shouldn't because you will create more dogs with missing teeth. If the tooth got knocked out then it's fine to breed it.

I'd like to know whether they should have their tail docked for a contest, or does that not matter. I know traditionally they did. But they're not used for what they were intended for in today's society.. I like to keep them with what God gave them. As I didn't have my pitbulls ears cropped either. Btw......my dogs are gentle pups, and not raised as killers. They love everybody, however I have learned that you do need to keep certain breeds, acclimated to what they were intended for.

I think in todays show world in the AKC they can either have tails or no. Ive been to a bunch of shows where I see the rottis have tails and when they dont. It depends on what the breeder is breeding them for.
@r.b.4611
@r.b.4611 5 жыл бұрын
Tail docking is cruel, useless, and unnecessary. The only people I still see arguing for it is people with dogs that have to run through dense scrub and may bang their tails up and get hurt. I don't really buy that though because you can always amputate if they get injured, you shouldn't just assume they could get injured and cut off a body part. Docking very rarely does have a medical reason, and that's fine. But mostly it's just a bunch of bullshit tradition that needs to die.
@rottweilerfun9520
@rottweilerfun9520 5 жыл бұрын
It's way easier to win without a tail in AKC but more and more Rottweilers with tails are competing and winning in the AKC ring with tails. There are currently 21 tailed champions in Rottweilers.
@animalobsessed1
@animalobsessed1 5 жыл бұрын
@@r.b.4611 A broken tail hurts the dog a lot more than docking does. So if the dog is actually being used for a job that has that risk, I do think it's okay. However, docking dogs who are just pets is stupid, especially on dogs like Rottweilers. Without the tail to balance them out, they compensate by digging their front feet into the ground when they want to switch directions or come to a sudden stop. This may not be such an issue for Fox Terriers or other little ones, but with the weight of a Rottweiler, that puts a huge strain on their joints, and massively increases the risk and severity of arthritis as they age. Additionally, although some body language is still visible without a tail, why would you choose to take away a possible warning signal on a dog that's capable of doing this much damage? Especially if you're standing at an odd angle to them, it can be pretty hard to read a tailless Rottweiler. After docking, the scar tissue also doesn't always form properly, and can leave the dog sore (which increases the potential to be snapped at) for the rest of their life. Lastly, tailless dogs are much more likely to wipe their ass on you when they sit on your lap. Why would anyone want that?
