Drill description: This is a “ne-waza preparation” drill. Athletes are grouped in twos and each couple is given a beanbag. One athlete (the “attacker”) tries to grab the beanbag, while the other athlete (the “the defender”) uses his body as a shield in order to protect it. The “defender” can’t cover or hide the beanbag with his body or touch it with his hands. He also can’t hold the attackers body by any means. This drill teaches the athletes to use their body weight during ne-waza and also serves as an exeptional entry-level ne-waza drill, introducing gradually new athletes to the fighting spirit and the physical contact requirements of the sport.
