my dad back in the day was a beast, when he was around 30 he came across a fight with his “friend” he was harassing his wife (not my mom) and when he fought my dad he was armed with a bat. my dad took the hits, broke his arm but still managed to this amazing hip throw. he wasn’t your average 200 pound man, in fact he was like 300 pounds and 6 ft, my old man was trained in boxing, wrestling, and karate. he even told me he was a street fighter in cuba, his home country. he was an absolute beast. has the legs of a thai fighter and the arms of a boxer. he hasn’t worked out since I came along (im 10) and he still is shredded, sure some fat here and there but that’s obviously normal. point is is that my dad was a real fighter. he tried to find a better life by travelling all over the world, moved on when my grandma died, and took the beatings life has to offer. he was a natural fighter. 🥋🥊🤼‍♂️

Hi I was wondering if when you go to do this throw If they drop their hips if you can still do it or you should just ditch the throw
@JudoLife
@JudoLife Жыл бұрын
May I suggest to make the hip throw entry highly committed, then they over-react, then a combination attack of say spin around on the ball of top point triangle foot from the kuzushi entry, and an ouchi or kouchi gari is viable, or waver the start, pre-entry to the hip throw with a pulse type feint through opponents body, and kosoto-gake. Anyone who simply drops hip as an answer to a forwards throw; rather than hip defence by rotation of hips, is vulnerable forwards and backwards, make sure of strong kuzushi commitment whatever

Hello! Is it necessary to apply physical strength for such throws and is it very difficult to throw larger opponents?
@JudoLife
@JudoLife 11 ай бұрын
Skill acquisition is dependent on yourself and your coach/Sensei A smaller person has a leveraging advantage over a taller person. Certainly in a real scramble in a conflict judo works well, but I won’t pretend to state that specific focussed strength doesn’t help at certain points to judo understanding applied along with the technique it enhances the result. Judo will make you stronger and skilled. It is easy to throw people who don’t know, if they come at you.

Hi! Just a question. In your opinion, is judo a good martial art for long term training? I ask this question because I am currently 20 years old, and I would like to try a grappling art, but at the same time, I would like to choose possibly a martial art that I can continue ti practice even at a older age (60, 70 or more years old). What do you think about it?

Yes I do a bit on a Wednesday a no-gi class, only 1 hour; but for quite a few years. I think Koshi Guruma, ALL foot trips and sweeps, under-hook harai goshi if you are judo coach trained, and counters/sacrifice throws tani-otoshi, uranage, and sumi-gaeshi.

I don't usually teach to syllabus, except for pre examination. I more look at a body position after kuzushi and coach various options of which throw/s fits that position, and have everyone cover those throws then drill the one they like most as best fit for them.

Yes the second uchikomi was a bit of a mix, I favour uki goshi from randori, and the throw and 1st uchikomi was OGoshi The fulcrum for uki goshi and the way they turn is different in the throw. It’s just a bit shallow hip, (for me) the action is OGoshi , over a fulcrum line through my hip bones. A lot of judoka go shallow hip like shintaro in this tsuri goshi kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hZd4edt_0J24omw.htmlsi=C87Cxsk65ur18dAJ

Sorry mistrzu.

The first uchikomi was best, parallel feet etc, then I settled in to a bad example, partially due to me favouring a blend of OGoshi and Uki goshi and tsuri goshi, that I use in randori. To counter your assessment actually its OK to draw kuzushi down, nothing wrong with that. The throw was OGoshi, (not Uki-goshi or tsuri-goshi.) The receiver went over my hip fulcrum line. The feet position was fine after the throw kake, and posture at finish was with zanshin to take advantage of an armlock or self defence, was suitable. The guy I threw was 110kg, and I am 80kg. Really looking forwards to your video.

And I just altered the name to Judo hip throw. Please don’t let that stop your post. It was intended as a practical way of attacking with a non specific hip throw rather than a “this is technically” an entry. Most children judoka love to use it, and the front on entry takes time and doesn’t suit children so much, as this is quicker, half the time of entry. The actual power lines, and throw breakdown now should be more acceptable to judo technician/nerds.

Balls of feet on entry once balance is broken, stepping to top point of triangle, is normal. Am I supposed to step flat footed, it is a part of human physiology in taking a stomp step. Once in the throw position as long as balance was broken upwards lift occurs and action goes around the somewhat higher fulcrum of the hip. Lifting of feet is a helpful effect. In summarising you are rude and Judo-stupid. You Sir are the orange belt here. Grow up. If you cant understand what's going on best not comment.
