Niizoe Saki apparently touched with her head on the mat before her supporting leg, but even after the referee live commission we weren’t convinced

That doesn't make any sense. Her head barely touched the mat, she's not using her head as an anchor to finish the throw or anything. It's a really weird head diving call.

04:45 Great points about the false attacks. Although I think there are legitimate intentional attacks that don't break the balance of the opponent, so considering those false attacks would be too much. But, agreed to at least to not give a shido because the other guy is just trying to get the first attack in.

Bro Heydarov and his hair... I was in Azerbaijan for a training camp and the national coach even made the joke that he had just come back from the salon. I guess its his style lmao hella unlucky for it to become a shido.

Intuitively I also like your thoughts on medal matches not ending in shidos. What would your opinion be on actions that would get immediate hansokumake - should they also end medal matches or would you really want to see a throw? (My mind says that of course an action resulting in hansokumake should lose the match as it is against the spirit of judo, but then I suppose that getting to three shidos from minor infringements is also meant to penalise actions against the spirit of judo. Regardless, I think you are very right that I would love to see more medal matches end in throws.)

In my view hansokumake is not a shido. Immediate hansokumake is a disqualification, a different category. Let’s not forget most shido’s are designed to cut down air time, not to improve judo. Totally support the idea of medal matches ending with a score or hansokumake.

It can't be a false attack if uke has to step over or block each time to avoid a fall. The idea is that if uke does not step over or block they would fall.
@bjarneschmalbach1524
@bjarneschmalbach1524 10 ай бұрын
Well if they would fall, that is the point. The way Schimidt flops to the ground definitely would not throw even if not blocked / stepped over. He stops the attack before Grigalashvili even steps over because he knows he did not break balance or anything.

only schmidts last attack could be seen as a false attack, the ones before that, grigalashvili had to take some defensive action to avoid being caught in his attack, therefore those aren't false attacks. And ofc, late in golden score if you aren't doing much and your opponent is, the refs will look for ways to terminate the combat. not unfair on tato.

The new rule of head diving is simple: if you do a technique and your head touched first on the mat, it will be punished with unsokomake. Not including low techniques like drop seoi nage 9:12

Why doesn't a fighter simply go for a throw when their opponent goes for a "false attack" by dropping to the knees without kuzushi? By my understanding of the rules, you can easily pick someone up and throw them uranage, or step around them and osotogari them as long as they are on one or two knee - it will still be considered tachi waza

false attack thing wasn't around in my days, competing right as veteran with seniors, and 2-3 jumps of those guys on theirs knees and im getting shido its wrong, we need to promote throws not attacks.
@aqiria

I think it's wrong that they only have either attack that counts (accumulation of which leads to opposition's penalties) or false attack, I think there should be a separation with borderline techniques that count neither as an activity nor as a passivity, or else we see players just attacking for the sake of being first and not giving a chance to the opponent to set up his own attack properly.

This master's degree for me is being very different and disputed. We see judo stars falling or losing to new athletes and at the same time we see judo stars showing that they are still at different levels. My only criticism is that the referees are increasingly strict with shido, in several matches the shido was applied in less than 1 minute.

I also don't understand Niizoe's disqualification. If that's considered head diving then everyone is fucked.

I really enjoy watching judo. But in my opion, shido game really ruined the sport. I really think that when an opponent when down for his own attack should be where the newaza begins, instead of stop and shido.
