If the thumb tab sits above the line of the handle, rather than level with it, you can use a reverse grip, which increases a knifes utility greatly. Once popular in medieval times, it appears to have been forgotten.

I was using it in reverse grip yesterday and you are absolutely right. Very good comment, thanks for sharing this information. Also thank you for watching the video.

Hello my friend, another inspiring knife. My experience with the differentially hardened 80CrV2 is that it needs a small secondary bevel to avoid chipping. I absolutely must purchase the knife shown. Great performance. Thanks Jörg

Hey Jörg, great to hear from you again. I think often with these Lauri blades the grind is so high that they merit a micro bevel. In the case of this one though, I will not be battoning through any knots. Even with the extra hard cutting edge it is unlikely to chip as it will be used quite gently. I would rather keep it surgically sharp. Maybe a bad idea, only time will tell. Really quite expensive, but it is a nice little knife to have around. Thanks for stopping by mate.

I really like that knife. we American carpenters carry disposable razor knives. They are that shape but the blade changes out. Nothing drives me more crazy than throwing a knife blade away. That thing is like the forever razor knife.

The advantage of the disposable blades is, well it would just seem wrong cutting roofing felt or carpet with something like this😂. It would do it fine though, really nice blade on the little bugger. Thanks for watching Travis. Have a fantastic weekend mate.

I really like that. Reminds me of a Japanese Higo No Kami.

Just the same as a Higonokami only with a wood handle, but otherwise looks identical to me. Thanks for stopping by mate.

Nice! I like the sort of simple look of that. I wish I would find more use fore folders, really😂Thanx for the review Tim!

I need to find more use for folders or stop buying them 😂. It can be handy to have a folder at work sometimes. My belt knives do get quite abused sometimes and just occasionally I need something really sharp. That has been my excuse for carrying this knife for the past few weeks 😂. Thanks for watching Llari..

A simple design, but, I think it would do well in a home or camp kitchen environment. Have yourself a good weekend Tim.

Definitely a handy little thing to have around. A fixed blade is obviously better for most things (except for fitting in your pocket). Thanks for stopping by Dan Hope you are having a great weekend too.

great knife Tim, it really does look like a great one for woodworking. Yes good point about the narrow handle and the fit to the hand.

Hi Tim, 😊 nice blade, but seen as how I'm getting clumsy in my old age I think that knife would bite me sooner or later, lol. But it will have its followers I'm sure, thanks for the video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to all, have a good wkend, Stuart UK.

Thanks Stuart, locking blades are deffo the way to go if you want a folder. I think if I am back in the UK I will be carrying this a lot because of the legality. I am getting quite clumsy in my old age, I tend to drop things rather than cut myself though. Have a fantastic weekend mate.

Thanks mate, I really like the traditional look and feel of this one. Not that there is actually any tradition of making folding knives in Finland. The blade is awesome, the handle could be more comfortable though.

Why not ask Mr Perttula to make some rounded scales for you!❤

Well if he would willing to do that it would cost money, but thats not Perttula been greedy just reality of it even if he would be willing to take custom order on production knife

I think that might be rather expensive. It is also the narrowness that makes it uncomfortable for prolonged use. It is seriously compact though. I think a fixed blade is always going to be the best tool for any kind of prolonged use anyway. Thanks for watching mate, have a great weekend.

Nice little folder! Speaking of which, Pallares (Solsona Spain) do a great, reasonably priced folder: Busa I think they're called. If you're not familiar aleady, think you might appreciate. Tell me what you think! Cheers mate!

I carried a Pallares everyday when I worked as a gardener near Barcelona. Basic, functional, cheap and super easy to keep really sharp. I really didn't know that anyone had ever heard of them outside of Catalonia. There are some really interesting folding knives from Spain.

This is like a dream knife for me. I love my mini skrama, it is my most used knife for sure. I also like friction folders like the svord peasant knife. A combination of both is just perfect for me. Also looks a lot similae to the japanese higonokami.

Edges of handle just look like an excuse to wear some gloves, the trendier the better, or i just see it too edgy. In long term use i suspect youll get blisters?
@KuukkeliBushcraft
@KuukkeliBushcraft 10 ай бұрын
Definitely not a knife for prolonged use. Really fantastic blade geometry but quite uncomfortable after a while. It is however very compact wich is the only advantage of a folder that I can think of. It's not just the edges either it is really narrow. Both the flatness and the narrowness do make it really compact. But to be honest I really don't notice something like an opinel in my pocket anyway. Thanks for watching mate. Have a great weekend
