The show takes place after the remnants of Vault tec nuked Shady Sands, so dont count on it. Also you see the Brotherhood of steel sending their second wave after the first wave was only partially effective against what looked like the remnants of the NCR at Griffith observatory - A real easter egg since that location was in Wasteland 2, a game that the team from the original Fallout games developed (Bethesda have ony developed FO3, FO4, FO76).

I wasn't a fan of some of the edits of locations. Like they entered vault 4 in a building that looked like it was in a swamp, and then they get kicked out and the vaults door is in the desert.

The constantly re-used (I think) chunks of ruins in the desert definitely didn't help, it felt like everyone was just going back and forth along their paths constantly

@@esmith8818 that's a fair point, the game is the same way too, repeating extremes of just 2 environments, desert waste or forest ruins. The only thing that changes the looks are the buildings.

That season 2 would literally make no sense. One, Caesar’s legions is probably decayed into warlordism since he died. I believe the ncr will have a bigger presence in season two but you have to remember they are still in serious decline after shady sands and president kimball. And I hope they don’t show new Vegas at all

​@BOT_JERRY As soon as AMD fixes their drivers, they broke compatibility with Fallout 3 and New Vegas with the last two drivers. Just crashes straight to desktop when you press new game. First reported by people many months ago, zero response on any of the threads. So we'll probably see Fallout 5 before AMD wakes up xD Fallout 1 and 2 still work though, but while they are amazing stories, they are bit tough to get into for most modern gamers. Worth it if you're willing to stick with the retro experience tho.

Fallout originally takes place in California. The first episode of the first season of the show shouldn’t be anywhere else but California considering it’s the birthplace of the franchise. Besides that point in canon New York was one of the many big city states that was just completely decimated when the bombs fell there’s literally nothing left to even go back too hence why there’s never been a game set there. Consider that the first game set in the east coast United States takes place in Virginia and the following game takes place in Boston rather than New York despite New York being the more recognizable place. This is unlike fallout 1 and 2 which as I said have the setting of California. San Francisco, New Reno, Navarro, The NCR etc that are all locations in fallout 2 alone and sets up a litany of lore that permeates through the rest of the franchise. California is quite big and most of the state is still habitable this extends to New Vegas as well considering many of the characters from Fallout 2 make a reappearance in New Vegas. The west coast is where this story and any future seasons should take place because it just makes sense within the canon of the games.

It doesn’t matter where they film, Hollywood is Hollywood it’s wherever they’re making their movie. Plus we have to assume at some point things will turn back in the other direction towards more creativity, quality and originality, traits we all appreciate about our favorite movies and shows. Moviemaking and show running is an art form just like anything else, Eventually new talent will arise and new and better ideas will come to the forefront. We’re just in a drought of creativity in that department right now and hopefully things are changing soon that’s all we can do about it. Unless you plan to write the next game of thrones or make the next fallout then by all means complain away lol.

Canon? By Canon you mean there are loose representations of things that already exist? It's not like there was any plot remnant of current lore, in fact it created entirely new lore that clashes with existing lore such as vault tec's buds buds, ghouls needing radaway to keep from going feral versus being fried from radiation and becoming feral right from the get go, BoS being celibate, and plenty more. Don't get me wrong, the show is great and creative freedoms are necessary but I'd say outside of similar things simply existing, the show isn't Canon. Whether that means that these new things are now Canon is going to be up for debate. People still think 76 isn't Canon.

A lot of shows get green lit for 2nd seasons before they are out now. This happened with the bear on Hulu. Honestly it's a great sign it means the show is testing so well that the production company (Amazon) believes in it enough to green light a second season before it is even shown to the masses. It also means we will get a 2nd season alot faster

100% this. That money isn't free and just "filming in California" isn't the only stipulation that comes with it. And those who want to handwave the DEI/ESG issues aside, it does also mean the show itself will have a smaller budget overall, due to how much more expensive everything in California actually is compared to the rest of the US. California alone is $1.6 Trillion(with a T) in debt. This seems like a move where the California government is hoping the creators of the show cannot see the Forest for the Trees.

The brotherhood under elder lions was an offshoot on the main branch that was more about helping people, the brotherhood under elder Maxim was all about gathering technology and killing anything that wasn't human pure human no mutations allowed. We haven't seen enough of the Brotherhood in the series yet we've only seen a couple of people

There are so many references and callbacks to New Vegas in the show that I don't think they're retconning it. If it helps, I reckon that in universe, with the world being so fractured and society collapsing, a few years just probably got miscounted here and there and the NCR approximated that it was 2277 when it was actually later according to the pip-boy.
