Brewed this recipe using the same grain bill and basic water profile a couple weeks ago, but 10 gallons, and it turned out great. The only differences were as follows: First, I used the same basic hop schedule, but followed your suggestion of not using lemondrop hops. I then split the batch in half with the final dry hopping of 2 oz Citra in one and 2 oz Mosaic in the other. Second, I used Wyeast 1318, the well known NEIPA yeast...not sure if that is the same as Imperial Yeast Ale Juice A38. Last, I did add a half ounce of Willamette at 60 minutes just to give a bit of bitterness, which is negligible if at all. Have just finished carbonating and tasting over the last few days and both turned out great. Mosaic is a much more grapefruit-centric hop while Citra has much more orange character. Both beers are noticeably different in flavor and aroma, but the basic elements of the base beer are in each and quite solid. I would recommend this recipe. It is very well done. Thanks for the video and recipe.

Hey mate, what temperature did you brew this on? Also, do you remove the first dry hoping when adding second? Same for third addition.. amazing idea to separate the batch and try both hops! I might do the same! Thanks for sharing!

Gentleman, I loved this recipe. I brewed it with my system which is not as fancy as yours, but gets it done. I did make a mistake and forgot to get sugar for the boil addition. I ended up adding blue agave pure from Costco. I made this beer on 3/20/19, and kegged it on 4/3/19. Had a small party on 4/6/19. 3 gallons gone after party, and i just finished the rest on 4/22. No one touched the craft beers i had bought. They all wanted more of this beer. I am planning on brewing this again! Thanks for the video. I love the idea of system you use.

NEIPAs seam extra susceptible to oxidation, but I could not see you taking any steps to avoid that here. How did this NEIPA look a couple of weeks in (if it survived that long)?

I had a thought for increasing efficiency in your system. I noticed it doesn't allow for sparging, but what if you tried the following: After mashing, and with the grains suspended over the kettle, drive your heating element to 100% and run your wort through your wort chiller. Then, run your domestic hot water line through the chiller to pick up the heat of the boiling wort. Adjust the domestic hot water flowrate to ensure you are at the proper sparging temperature. Then simply rinse the grain bed with the fresh, preheated water until you reached your ideal boil volume.

Hey guys, would you help me out? How long did you ferment your neipas? I’m actually at 12 days with two dry hops and still got a bubbly airlock.
@JorgeAulestia
@JorgeAulestia 4 жыл бұрын
@@brunoabarca3754 I had the same issue on mine recently. The thing is airlock activity is not really a good indicator that your beer is finished. Taking a gravity reading is the best way to know. If you're around 1.010 (more or less) you should be fine to bottle or keg.

To keep the bitterness down. I brewed a very similar recipe a few other times-- that had a small bittering addition and they were just a little too bitter for my preference.---You get a decent amount of bitterness from the steeping additions.

I am usually not a fan of IPA'S (Dark chocolate/coffee beers are more to my liking) due to them being piney (don't like pine flavor) but I did decide to give a few citrus ipas a chance since they had more of a lemon, orange, lime, or tangerine flavors even with the higher IBU ratings. I have been surprised that I did enjoy them(the ones I have tried) since they don't have that Nasty pine taste. I will say that IPA sounds and look good.

@chozomonkey
@chozomonkey 4 жыл бұрын
Noticed there wasn't a reply. Their doing a "Brew in a Bag" method of brewing which doesn't require a sparge. Start with slightly over your pre-boil volume of water, mash, then boil. When you sparge, you normally start with less water and the sparge water adds the volume back. Just a different way of doing it.

Ionut You dont want to leave hops in contact for excessively long periods. Over extraction can lead to to grassy, herbal qualities. 3-4 days is a good rule of thumb.
