I think the most underrated aspect of the technique isn't the technique itself, as hanami says its pretty simple, but rather the way todo uses it. the dude is constantly playing mind games with it and sets up these mental traps for his opponents by using it in a specific way, which they then accept as the explanation, then get fucked over by hidden aspect of it. todo then explains that aspect is also true, and then the cycles repeats itself. It starts from as early as being able to switch people other than himself in the hanami fight to being able to use another persons hands to clap in the mahito fight later on. Setting up these expectations for both the opponents he fights and the readers keeps every fights insanely entertaining and I always get surprised by the ways he's able to use it. Dude says he has an IQ of 530,000 and he backs it the fuck up

the way i like to explain it is its like a fighting game 50/50 move that forces you to guess what's going to happen and doesn't give you enough time to react to it with reflexes alone, and is even used in the same way you would use a 50/50 move in a fighting game. you condition your opponent to think that you tend toward using it a certain way, then you flip it on its head and do something different, which is shown when he claps, but doesn't activate his technique. by that point in the fight he has conditioned his opponent to equate the clapping sound with a position swap, and by switching it up at this critical point in the fight Todo has essentially forced Hanami into a perpetual state of being "tilted", basically meaning they're incapable of making a logical guess at what is going to come next in the fight due to having a string of bad luck and not feeling like they can trust their instincts. I can say from personal experience that it is VERY hard to break out of a tilt when done by the right opponent, as it starts to feel like they're getting into your head and you can't do anything about it.

One thing that i have just recognised is that todo can use “boogie woogie” in 3 ways! 1: swapping himself with someone else. 2: swapping 2 persons. And most importantly 3: clap with no effect (worthy of praise)🙇‍♂️

I’ll try to explain it the best I can. Naobito can turn 1 second into 24 frames. He can use these frames to make a target follow predetermined movements. If the target doesn’t follow the movements, then they will be frozen for a second.

Thats a bit of a misconception. Playful Cloud is never stated to not have cursed energy. It just doesn't have a cursed technique like most other tools. Meaning it still lines up with no real contradictions

One thing I'd like to note is that Boogie Woogie is ONLY useable on things possessing cursed energy ABOVE a certain level. This is why he only uses his technique on special grade curses. I think it wasn't just Todo being overwhelmingly strong that he doesn't need it on lower level curses, but that's the actual limitation. It's why he was able to switch with Playful Cloud. Theoretically, this would not be possible with Slaughter Demon (the knife Yuji uses in his test with Nobara). If there's anything that says otherwise lmk. I read the manga but I can miss some things.

If someone uses a range attack? Switch with them. Throws you? Gets a grapple? You instantly give him advantage and he can specialize in close combat

I seriously loved Boogie Woogie, and it's brilliant for Todo. It can be summed up as "F your reflexes and F your positioning", either of which is basically a death sentence in a high level fight. Another aspect that doesn't get much recognition is that he can prevent enemies from escaping or repositioning by normal means: unless they instantly escape the range of Boogie Woogie, he can just charge a rock or whatever with cursed energy and swap the enemy right back to him. Even knowing fully how it works just makes it worse because the possibilities expand so much that predicting what/if he'll swap becomes impossible.

There are a few axioms to boogie woogie that I have seen. 1.) a clap in necessary to activate it 2.) a clap can swap the location of things with cursed energy 3.) (SPOILERS) a swap can include more than two targets at once and can increase in range if a binding vow is used. And that’s it. I love powers that rely on simple concepts & proceed to take them to their limits. It’s like proving 1+1=2 it’s such a simple concept but it has also brought us mathematics as a whole.

This is just my thoughts, but boogie woogie name possibly originated from the the term ; boogie - swaping places with other that is quite similir to boogie (dancing). Woogie- is the effects of those who been trapped inside; being woozie dizzie from the nauseation of the opponents blows

10 shadows is the best of its type but your individual summons are all weak until you lose a few of them and their powers get passed on. It's kind of like Lucy's keys in fairy tale, she may have t he most summons but they never get stronger so she gets outclassed real quick.

Boogie Woogie does have a few downsides though. Due to it not being a direct attack, if you are unable to damage an opponent enough, the ability becomes relatively useless. If the only target you are able to swap to is your opponent, the possible moves you can do is decreased drastically. Finally, if the opponent uses a powerful AoE attack, dodging it with Boogie Woogie isn't possible. Although, these downsides can be mitigated by other factors, by using cursed objects as dummies that you can switch out with, and using cursed weapons if you aren't able to deal enough damage.

i love the triple fakeout he did with revealing his abilitiy; 1. Just because he claps doesnt mean his ability activates 2. he can swap out more than two objects at a time, even at the exclusion of himself, so he doesnt have to be the one to swap with yuji or hanama 3. it can target more than just people really brought the scene up allot with how everyone up to that point had been flat out explaining their abilities to the audience and enemies and minor spoilers here: theres a fourth fakeout he has where he can clap using other peoples hands, and that one time he lost a hand and clapped the stump to trick mahito into thinking he could still do it, which was priceless

Todo Aoi's technique is nothing like Blood manipulation, Space manipulation, Shadow etc etc, Its just simple swapping. It's a lame ability but with Todo it becomes a dangerous tool. Its like the guy from MHA who had a quirk of Passing through things it's a useless and shit ability but instead of looking at it as the weapon he used it as a tool and made himself the weapon. That's what Todo does he makes himself the Weapon while Boogie Woogie is the tool to enhance him

I doesn't make sense that he is able to use his technique on the playfully cloud, this is because he says his technique works on something above a certain cursed energy level, but playfully cloud has no cursed energy at all so it shouldn't be in his techniques range of things to swap

Whats cool is that Todou can carry a cursed weapon and if he were in grave danger he could throw it and swap to escape. Also first time i saw that technique i thought that clapping isnt even necessary to activate it which means that he can completely mindfuck and opponent one more time by swapping someone without clapping. Idk if it's true if he is hiding his technique still and if it is I'd love to see it.

Boogie woogie is not a super powerful high level technique and that's really why it's great. It's simple unimpressive nature makes really nothing more than a nuisance and but because of how it utilized it comes across as extremely powerful. If the user can't damage the target it doesn't how thrown of this skill can make them
