Saw Julian in the Lincoln Center production of "Showboat" a few years back. FIRST ROW! He was so wonderful. I adore him in everything he does. There's a KZfaq clip from the Proms of Julian and Sierra Boggess doing West Side Story and other selections. Just terrific. I'd love to see him in South Pacific; perhaps my long wished for trip across the pond will happen!

Hi margaret louise, i so agree with you,love his voice!i i heard him sing a Jerry Herman song. Song of the sand at a concert in chelsea recently. Sheer magic.

It's says a lot about his range and versatility that he can take on the music of both Emile de Beque and Lt Cable.

I saw the same show and was blown away by Julian's voice and acting. I too was surprised that I had never heard of him. I also get goose bumps when I hear him sing.

You made a good decision. Love that musical. My brother is a c130 pilot and has been stationed there twice and once in Milton. He even got to fly Fat Albert. I would fly in to Pensacola for events I was interested in ( and stay with my brother and his wife ). The very last event was Andre Rieu and his JSO. But he is retired from the USMC now, and is an attorney.

I no longer live in Pensacola, but have family there and go back often. It is always a time of consolation for me.

I know. Andrew Foyle was a great character he played so well. And on top of it all he sings in his gorgeous and powerful tenor voice.

I played a a version I really liked from a 1957 production (film) of south Pacific. It's close but this is slightly better. It simply may be the recording technique and environment in the decades of difference. What a voice! In the 1957 production actor John Kerr (playing Lt. Cable) appears to sing the song but it is actually performed by Bill Lee. The setting and scene are so emotional that one has to listen to just the voice and music. Young Lt. Cable falls in love with a dark skinned island girl. He is from the wealthy Philadelphia family of Cable and Cable. Our young Lt.is a Navy pilot. The family will disown him if he pursues the relationship - which he does. He will give up the meaningless lure of wealth for love. Not a happy ending when he is killed in action. A powerful song when attached to the South Pacific story. How often in life is this message played out.

He can really act a song as well as sing beautifully, They don't always go together.

The fact that he's beautiful does not hurt either.

I wonder if that was "After the Funeral" where Julian played an actor and very good he was too. Michael Fassbender was also in the cast and he was very good too!

Agree, agree, agree about Julian O, but a quibble with that darn microphone. What a distraction. Maybe not to an audience in the auditorium, but to us watching on tv? Hasn't technology gotten to the point where the mic can be a little less intrusive?

ITV3 (Channel 10) is currently re-running early episodes of "Foyle's War" late at night. Julian pops up in a few of them as Andrew Foyle, the pilot son of the detective (played by Michael Kitchen). Julian doesn't sing but he's just as good as an actor!

I wonder if he'll be on Downton Abbey for very long as he's taken off and won't be back for maybe a year, I don't think he's really one of Lady Mary's suitors. Julian's got I think more interest in pursuing a movie career now, he left Foyle's War after only a few years and I missed him back then and now he makes very short and rare appearances on Season 5.

Who says he was on Broadway? You can't have read the caption properly; this concert was in London at the Royal Albert Hall, & is just a Broadway segment. You might not need a hearing aid, but maybe glasses!

Joan Allen he made my heart skip a beat in Foyle’s War. I knew he sang and is married to an opera singer but WOW!

I too enjoyed Foyle's war. What a surprise to discover what a fantastic singer he was.

He also stars in “The Royal” series.

Aled Rees I love his rendition of the song especially at the end when he sings the ending very softly, it's so beautiful to me, don't know if this was the way Richard Rodgers wrote the song this way as I don't really hear it sung this way even in the original 1949 Broadway cast version, but Jason Danieley in the Lincoln Centre production, sings it in this way as well.
