Hello and good morning everyone, today I would like to provide you with a short introduction to what Alenka Zupančič, in her reframing of Kantian ethics, deems “an ethics of alienation.”
Thank you for watching, and if you’d like to help me keep making these videos, please consider becoming a patron. The link is below. Thank you!

Im a huge fan of the channel man! Honestly i think that perhaps the videos are a bit TOO short in terms of short form, sometimes there's not enough meat to digest the ideas or enough talk of why the specific idea matters. I think 20-30 minute videos would be your perfect sweet spot. Just my two cents, and good luck!

You’re probably right, it also depends on the subject matter - the earlier one on the four discourses was perfectly succinct

Thanks for all you do! I would not have understood a line of Zupančič’s what is sex without your introduction

Hey I request you to create a members only segment on your KZfaq channel itself as it is not possible to access your content on patreon as the billing procedure is not possible for me to tread along with (I believe that could be a problem for a lot of your viewers)

If Kant's notion of freedom is the acceptance of mastery through self-discipline, whereby the actions towards an end (content) is a drive that provides enjoyment, then doesn't that problematize the (possible) Lacanian notion of enjoyment through transgression (which he takes up in the discussion of Antigone... but which he seems to later drop for enjoyment found in the interstice between the Symbolic and subjectivity)? This is a question I am sure that you could trounce upon, and I don't really find a disagreement with your readings, but I find the connection between transgression and enjoyment tenuous, and it would seem to complicate a Kantian connection between enjoyment and the ethical (i.e. what is enjoyed cannot be ethical). Maybe this is all nonsense on my part and I haven't read Zupancic, but do appreciate and learn from what you are doing here. Thank you for your efforts

Is the alienation that Zupancic mentions (alienation from the illusion of freedom) related to alienation in the sense that Marx used it? Does Kant's truly free act only out of the suffering entailed by the process of alienation in one's life? I find that there are few children of wealthy people who end up well-adjusted who don't first go through a period of alienation. Perhaps this is true of all classes, but the resources to nurture a person through those dark days are typically unavailable to the economic poor, and increasingly now the middle class.

Authentic act of freedom as inner necessity, had no choice, compulsion (and then take control to street this)

And this comes from realising no authentic core of freedom and have limited freedom
