@pianolasociety There was also a production in NY in 1982. I worked on the crew and it was so exciting since the audience was packed every night with celebs since everyone was curious about this unknown Porter musical. This version does not do the song justice. It's hilarious with all of the encores...which can go forever if the audience keeps applauding.

Actually, this is from Julie Andrews' movie Called "Star" (1968). ;)

This movie was also entitled 'Those Were The Happy Times.' The movie had not been a success and they tried to earn more money by putting it out under another title.

This is from "Star!" Robert Wise's 1968 moviebiopic on the career of Gertrude Lawrence. I hear that people found Gertie mesmerizing, but Julie was a better singer. As this illustrates.

Obvious subtext to the song is that the physician was a homosexual. This is similar to a song Porter wrote a few years earlier, "I'm Unlucky at Gambling." Except a much better song...in fact it's better than most of the songs used in Star!

Margot Darby Why was it a subtext? The physician is trained in anatomy and physiology. Every "organ in between" means what it says. I say the dr. is just plain shy and modest. And professional. Unrequited love from a lady of the harem. One can read into any Cole Porter piece his sexuality. And baby if I'm the bottom you're the top might be a better fit for such spectacles.

It is indeed from "Nymph Errant", which is currently (July 2012) being performed at the Clurman Theater in New York. It was used in "Star". This cute performance reminds me of one of Adelaide's production numbers for the Hot Box in "Guys and Dolls" - no real connection to the plot, but cute anyway.

this is from the Cole Porter show "Nymph Errant" which only ever played in England in the 30s. Was any more of this filmed by Andrews?

She's not a prostitute, she's a woman who can't lose her virginity (a major plot point of the oriiginal show).
