Dr. J. is wrong. Big Shot Rob was not a "ring collector". He was a "King Maker". People should respect how much of an impact he had on the NBA. Obviously, Horry was a roll player. But he wasn't even what we'd call a journeyman. What he was, though, was clutch in big moments on a historic level. He literally changed the way we talk about basketball because he was directly/indirectly responsible for so many superstars getting multiple rings and preventing others from getting a ring. It's not like he played for 6, 7, 8 teams a year at a time trying to latch himself onto a ring-bound team like certain big name guys have done.

Erving was up there. But Jordan grew up idolizing David Thompson. That is why Thompson was the person that introduced Jordan into the Hall of Fame. But of course, Thompson's measure of greatness was Dr. J. And those two were the principals that created the ABA - NBA merger.

Championship isnt about individual player.. it comes with the right recipe of mix players as a team to win championship. So as an individual best player is a never ending debates. One player can not win the basketball championship. So to naming the best players base on how many championships... is stupid debate. Take the example of Detroit's last championship and none of them are top 10 players listed their era's!

But I've been saying this for years. There are several former players who have more rings than MJ (not counting Horry) and they all are Celtics because the Celtics was the team to beat EVERY year. So if rings make you great, MJ is like #4 or 5 on the greatness scale. I don't think MJ is greater than LeBron and certainly not better than Jabbar or Dr. J. Each possesses skill that others may not have. But they are all great and different. It's like comparing apples and oranges...it can't be fairly done.

@@winh998 u made your points in championships category! Every players have their own specialties, abilities, unique, styles and mentality way of playing basketball. MJ is one of the greatest player in NBA history no doubt about that nor any denies what he capable of. But because of Dr.J is what inspired MJ to play the like of what Dr J do and progressing in new way in every eras. Gotta respects the past the legends. Because of them that created new eras of players. Imagine no Magic Johnson and Dr. J maybe MJ wasnt gonna play basketball and went off to baseball instead. LBJ is just another updates new version of legendary players where he can do so many greatness not just himself but people around him. MJ is a crazy warriors in front like in Gladiator. LBJ is the leading commanders like Spartan. Kyrie Irving is a ninja assasins. Steph Curry is like Robin Hood. How can the best player be determined by rings when the league places the worst teams with the best chance to get the most talented young players? Titles would be a factor but the lack of titles does not diminish the greatness of David Thompson, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Pete Maravich, Allen Iverson, or Chris Paul. And to think that many players with more rings were better than Chamberlain, Erving, and Oscar Robertson would be ludicrous.

great stuff so true. i feel the same way he does about celebrating after almost every score . its too much, in the nfl you get a interception the WHOLE team runs to the endzone to celebrate even if he didnt make it to the endzone smh .they need to watch Barry Sanders and other greats the biggest thing you heard back in the day was "Act like you been there before" dont make it such a shocking feat
