Ever thought about using a free motion, (quilting), foot and doing free motion sewing? Just lower the feed dogs and sew in any direction.

I enjoy watching your work and am working on Julio (and tmyers) inspired jeans. Does the glue mess up your sewing machine needle? I was concerned about even carrying the tacky glue into the bobbin.

If you use very small dabs of fabric glue, and wait until it's DRY, it will not cause any problems with your sewing machine needles. 🙂 If you wish, you can also iron down the fabric after using very small dabs of glue, which will flatten down the dabs of glue and help them dry faster and lay more evenly.
