I'm noticing how some velvet bucks, at my water holes, seem to grow their racks much more rapidly toward their full summer growth than others. The others seem to grow their antlers slower and steadier. Great video. Thanks for posting Sir.

I do need to get out and shoot the bow. I did get a few carp with the bow. Got some grape vines growing on the hollyhocks for some better cover at the picnic table. Some high bush blueberries came up on there own up north. The clover has did well even lacking rain. Got moss around the cherry trees. Didn't think they threw enough shade for clover u.p. north. Yes need to remove all the sticks on the trails. I am just out for meat this year. If there is a doe bullying other doe at the apple trees that's the one for me. Yes clearing some shooting lanes at the y in the trail would help me. Bushes and cover around the garden has keep the deer out. I had a deer 5 feet from me while sitting working in the garden on the other side of the rose bushes. Thought it might be eating rose hips.

WNY has been blessed with rain this year after last years terrible drought... good luck to everyone needing rain. Last year rye and tillage radish saved my fall plots 👍🏼

I'm in Northwest Indiana and hunt in a Deer Reduction Zone. I missed out on last year's season because of losing almost half of my thumb due to a cable bow press snapping accident. So, I started doing my check list as soon as the season was over. Started shooting my bow as soon as it didn't hurt too bad. And shoot as much as I can. About 4-5 days a week. I got all my trails cut down, and cleaned, again last week. So, I only have to cut them once more in about a month. Mine are easy though. My hunting area is a 30 acre plot right behind my property. So, a battery powered weed eater does just about a perfect job. Pretty quiet, too. The property has plenty of diverse plants, so I don't do any planting. Not much room anyway. It's basically a corridor going East and West between bedding areas and woods towards the East and headed towards food plots to the West. The North and South sides are pretty open, so the deer prefer to go through my area. Oh, and only 2 people have permission to hunt that area. I'm retired, so I can hunt as much as I want. My buddy has a full time job, So he might get to hunt, at most, 2-3 weeks of the 4 month season. I just put a new string and cables on my bow 3 days ago, so that is all good to go too.

I got my scrape branch and vine out this weekend. First time trying a vine. I put it on a part of my hunting plot I put a large cut cedar branch in the ground to hang it from. Its the main highway for all bucks going through here. it should get hit a lot.

Thanks for the informational video. I am going to put in 2 water holes today. Going to put them in my small hunting plots. I know you said not to put water holes in food plots but my property is all low ground and next year I need to work on the bedding areas. Then I can move them if I need too. Thanks again for the time you spend helping us out.

I like your content, Iv adhered to a lot of the things you’ve said when it comes to hunting big bucks. I’m not sure your a wildlife conservative though. The chemicals your spraying are not good for other wildlife out there not to mention the “weed killing aspect” your never going to kill the weeds by spraying them. I understand the plant the seed that’s awesome. It just seems this channel has turned into to how to drain money by buying my seed and plant spray plant. I appreciate the content non the less.

Just wanted to let you know I have read all three of your books and started working on my 29 acres. Have planted buckwheat with great success. Love your content. Hope to plant my food plots early August. Plan on using fall blend and brassica blend.

Jeff, great video. I planted about 8 acres for the first time following your Ultimate No Till with Buckwheat this spring. Unfortunately I have some plots that are doing ok and others not so good in terms of the weeds that have somehow taken over. There is still buckwheat present but the weeds are prevalent in some plots. I was debating about my next steps. Since the weeds in some cases are over 12-18" tall, I was considering mowing everything down short, giving it a week, than doing a light till to loosen the soil, followed by spraying glyphosate after vegetation starts to grow back. After this, than planting half of each plot in brassicas and half in your power greens. Any advice is greatly appreciated. It has been a frustrating food plot season between the drought and now the weeds. Thanks Jeff

Sadly I didn’t get any spring plots in Ohio. So I’m hoping to get something in by mid August.🤞🏻The ground needs high cal lime and maybe some gypsum. I’ll get plots in both NY and Ohio then get back to frost seeding in March. I hope.

Can you plant rye and leave until the following year and mow around September?? I am testing this out this year on a little plot we are way north MN with nothing but woods around my main food Plot the deer definitely even still from the rye that was left after my spraying the deer are still hitting that plot but not touching the other cause it's tall. Once mowed and it hits colder temps are they gonna swap to that smaller plot or do they like fresh growing??? If you don't know I'll keep you updated on my experiment because this area is hard to just get back to and work and if I only have to mow once or twice a year and have a great food Plot I'm game

Great timing. Most of my buckwheat is shin-high and relatively weed-free, but one small plot is overtaken with pigweed and canary grass. Will two weeks be enough between the 2-4d and planting if I go with the regular 2 qts gly + 1 pt 2-4d?

Hey Jeff, is there a size a plot should be before you consider splitting them in half like you do with big boost brassicas and fall power greens? We have small plots. Largest is about .2 of an acre

Quick question a few spots I'd love to go throw a watering hole in real quick here at the end when i go throw my cameras out! Would a 15 gallon tank be any good or is that pretty laughable as a size and not be enough to really make a difference

Hey Jeff, another great video! i am using a local brassica blend that is proven! It calls for 4lbs per acre but i am using a heavy tilled radish mixture this year for the first year. Cutting this blend in half to only 2lbs per acre and adding back 7lbs per acre of Nitro Raddish will that be enough? This seed company provides seeding rates for the brassica at 4lbs per acre and the Nitro Raddish at 5lbs per acre. Didn’t seem right based on what you use.

I purchased a 14 acre plot last year and have been working on prepping for a home etc on it. it's mainly all wooded. There are some logging roads that obtain some nice sunlight, Would that be a good area to toss in a small plot probably 150 yards by 10-15 foot wide? I have no clue of what is on the property I did see an old scrape last year when I first purchased the property. I have only been back on the hill 2 times though is my only issue.

When would you hang a mock scrape over a watering hole? Also can a more secluded watering hole be placed near a creek bottom and still be used?

Jeff, I planted some purple top turnips, last weekend. They already germinated. Did I plant them too early?? I planted them in Northern Michigan. I tried planting corn in May and the 3 week drought. The corn never germinated. I just want to do it correctly.
