HELLO FRIENDS! Thanks for watching our HOME TOUR video featuring COOL BLUES and GREENS in thrifted vintage collectibles for mid JULY decor! Also, some fun garden and pond videos at the end! We hope your July has been good too.
We've always enjoyed thrifting and antiquing for vintage MCM furniture, lighting, kitchen dishes and fabulous old accessories to use and decorate our home since 2005. You will enjoy the nostalgia in this video, as well as our OTHER RETRO HOME TOURS that we have on our channel. Our home is constantly changing as we find more fun vintage items at antique and thrift stores in MN and WI.
We look forward to reading your comments. We are very GRATEFUL for your kind support and WISH YOU AND YOURS BLESSINGS!!
With appreciation,
Peggy Lou and Norm

I’ve been following along on your trips to the Antique/Thrift shops for awhile now. They are always fun to watch & also see what you guys purchase. Then we get to see them all set up in your lovely home. Peggy, you definitely have the knack for decorating & displaying all your finds. Your backyard is absolutely stunning. What a view! That’s a true labor of love. ❤

I love the blue cut glass, the tall swan the songbirds and the chubby little doves. The Cockatoo wall plaques are so sweet! I imagine that whoever designed those must have loved those birds. 💙🤍💙 Thank you for sharing videos of your beautiful yard. The summer rainfall was fun to watch.

Peggy and Norm: what a lovely garden you have. Did you both design it.? The water and the way the rocks are positioned are just delightful to look at. I really like how everyone’s backyard is open. And your collection of blue, green and white accessories for your home are so well placed to enjoy. Kudos to both of you. Just wonderful! Carol from California

Hi Carol! Thank you very much for watching this video and your sweet message! Yes, Norm designed the layout of our ponds and 2 waterfalls way back in July of 1999. We are blessed to have a very open view all these 35 years we've lived here. We are grateful that the neighbor in back never planted trees on his long yard. He had two sons and they loved baseball so they were always out there practicing. He also had hunting dogs. Anyway, we love not having huge trees blocking our view of the sky and everyone's yards back there. I've spent all these years gardening with Norm's help to find perennials that we might enjoy out there. I'm the one that studied plants and got him to put in so many of the fun ornamental grasses. Our yard slopes down so it's always been more wet back there. It's been very rewarding but so much work. I just can't do it anymore and it's getting harder for Norm too to take over the weeding. For several years now, he's even had to do most of the fall cleanup too. He loves our backyard and I'm so glad that he is able to still work out there. I feel guilty that I just hurt my hands and most every other joint when trying to water, trim or dig to plant any annuals. We have been taking out some of the more difficult perennials over the past few years. We should be doing much more to simplify things further. But that takes Norm's time and as most everyone knows, he had a very rough couple of years with 2 major surgeries. It's been nice that he's finally able to try to do more outside this summer. He still gets pretty sore though when he overdoes things. Thanks again for asking. As you can tell, I always love talking about our garden and ponds. I started a video last year all about it from it's beginnings in 1999. We have lots of old photos and videos of all the years and changes. I hope someday I can get some time to work on it to finish. I'm glad you liked this video! You have a great week! Hugs!

It's just as beautiful as all your home tours Peggy, I love the blue - love the vibrant green used for the wire shelving, that area is looking very different now and I'm loving it!! The peacock vase (which is what they look like) aren't particularly tropical, normally it would be flamingos, they definitely look more 70-80s to me and definitely not mugs (how odd). We've had our fair share of rain bombs here in London. This year so far has been very wet and the summer this far has been very cool, not that I'm complaining lol. Hugs and love as always. 💙💙

Thank you, Gareth! So nice of you to always send your kind and fun messages. ;-) I agree with you, I don't generally think of Peacocks as tropical, but the website that was selling these as new mugs also referred to them as for Tiki parties and drinks. So I was just repeating what I read about them. We're glad you are having cool weather there considering much of our country has terrible triple-digit temps. I can't imagine living with that and imagine what our AC bill would be. :-( Nice of you to write again, Pal! Hugs & love, too!

@@Crazy4Retro at lease you have the option of AC lol here it's not a thing really. New builds are putting in ac as the past few years we have had some very hot almost 40°c weather so you can imagine what this is like in a home without ac lol. Yeppers sweet Peggy you can only go by what is stated on the webpage for those vase cups. Stay well.

I just want to tell you that I have been collecting vintage pyrex and large pitchers for about 5 months. I am obsessed with your large fire king and pyrex pitchers. I found my 5th one today but they are so hard to find. If you ever get rid of any can you let me know. I love you channel but really love looking at all your kitchen collectables. I was wondering where you find them at. My husband isn't happy that I am bringing more stuff home even though I am 66 but I am loving trying to find them . LOL Becky Thanks so much for the joy of the find. .

Hi Peggy & Norm, your lucite plaque on the door reminds me of an ornament I have. It is a small weighted yellow plastic flower pot with flowers - similar to the ones on your plaque - 'growing' out of it. I actually bought it from a 'sale of work' (a fund raising community sale) when I was a child as a present for my mum, fifty years ago! I inherited it back some years ago when she died & I always think of how she proudly displayed it. I think these lucite products must originate from the USA as I never see them here now. Incidentally I noticed you pronounce "theatre" just like my English /Irish mum did & I've never noticed an American saying it that way before. Best wishes from Scotland.

30:15 Peg, I do so enjoy your collection of clocks but this atomic one is probably my favorite Did the votive holder sconces come with? If not, its a really good match. Now back to the video...
@Crazy4Retro
@Crazy4Retro Ай бұрын
Hi! I'm happy to hear you love that bigger clock. It was my very first MCM clock purchased many years ago. We just found those sconces last year here in Minneapolis. I didn't even know where I was going to put them, but couldn't resist getting them because we've never seen them before. It took me a while to think about that clock, (that I actually had stored in a closet), too realize that it would most likely go with the sconces. So, I told Norm my thoughts about putting them together on that small wall. It meant that we had to move another MCM large black mesh and gold clock to the top of the stairwell instead of being the one over the bookcase. We already had a sturdy nail there over the stairwell, so I was thrilled that we worked out that move. Shirley, I get bored with things sometimes too quickly and am always thinking about rearranging stuff, especially when we make new wall decor purchases. LOL I still have a very nice Elgin? starburst clock in a closet that I wish we could get put up somewhere! ;-)

47:01 What kind of tree is that closer to your house? Russian Olive? Whatever it is I like the structure of the trunks
@Crazy4Retro
@Crazy4Retro Ай бұрын
You're right, Shirley! It is one of our neighbor's many Russian Olive trees. They have always had a wet backyard because they sit lower than us other neighbors (sad for them). So previous owners planted a willow right by his house in the backyard there and 4 Russian Olives around his deck. They've all gotten huge, but he's lost many major branches from them in storms. I've always thought that they are too soft and break easily in storms. Fast growing trees are softer wood, of course. Norm's sister and brother-in-law lost one at their house too from a storm. The tree you are seeing is about half of the original because of lost branches. He is yearly cutting and cutting back damage on them. So, my personal thoughts are that I'm not so sure they are ideal. Just a side note...he is terrible at taking care of his yard and trees. He's left very dead and dying shrubs along our property line for decades that we've tried to hide from our view. So unsightly and we just don't understand the reasoning to never ever trim a bush to keep it healthy. Sorry to elaborate, but it's really a sore subject for Norm and I. We live between 3 much younger men who do nothing but bare minimum yard mowing and that's it. The rest is terrible to look at (tall weeds going to seed, etc.) Norm has tried to help every year. Sorry to vent, you hit a nerve. LOL

Hi, I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I haven't seen any message from you today on dolphins, and I checked the 'Held For Review' section. There are no messages there either. Please send your message again and see if it works. Try not to judge too quickly. YT has control over my messages when some words come up that may be controversial. For instance, every time someone says "little girl" it can end up in the Held for Review section. I don't even think to look there very much. Thanks for watching and writing.
