Can I just add that pretty much our second team played well. Nienaber wanted our newer players some time on the field which they got. Doing something similar to Rassie by building up at least two experienced teams for the RWC 2023. Wales were not playing our top team, more like our runner up team who played well and better consistently than they did the first week. And only lost by one point. Good win to Wales but yesterday proved that they didn't know how to take on the much more experienced pack. So well done Wales, but it was much more an experiment by JN for his players to get game time than to win the match although winning would have been top notch. But our guys really stepped up although they made errors and showed that Wales would have to fight which they did. But Wales need to figure out their skills and work on them. Getting themselves ready for this time next year.

@@extra4594 totally agree. Our biggest problem in S.A is we want to win every game which isnt possible. Caoches choose their battles wisely just like rassie did. If you win a world cup you have bragging right for 4 years. Look at NZ great team win almost every match but in 2019 were nowhere with al due respect. Coaches know when to put the gas on and whem to hold back. It would be nice to win every sibgle match but its humanly impossible and I wish people would understand that. B TEAM PLAYED BETTER THAN THE A TEAM. What a time to make 19 changes hmmm!! Boks will only get better, always a year before the RWC we do this so lets see what happens. In 1994 we where called shit and won the RWC in 1995, in 2006 the Poms and Welsh management said Boks are below average and don't stand a chance and we won the RWC 2007, in 2018 we were once again told not to have a chance and won the RWC in 2019. Boks have method to their madness, watch this space. Huge player depth just takes fine tuning. First time together in 7 months for both teams I only see good things.

You can complain about the referee last week all you want, and you would be justified because he was awful; if SA had lost, I would be here complaining too, albeit about a different set of decisions. But to complain about 4 yellow cards all for negative play / professional fouls is another thing completely. The only one of those that was in the slightest bit dodgy was LRZ, but by the time the referee looked up, LRZ had a second go at the ball after the ruck was formed, Faletau had his hands in the ruck and when SA still managed to recycle, Wales 3 leaned across and tried to play the ball from an offside position. Blatantly intentional dodgy play and something that had you on a warning this weekend within the first 15 minutes! Sure, AWJ did not deserve his yellow card this weekend, but a minute or two later, Reffell (I think it was) did and never received one. Caught offsides on the 5 yard line with the team on a warning... nuff said. PS And I am not even trying to be an arsehole here - merely pointing out that sometimes, even with a shit referee, you deserve the punishment you get. And I am glad that Reffell dodged a bullet because at least that minimises the impact of AWJ's card. Congratulations on a great win! Hope next week is a cracker!

@@GWills-ys6rd Yeah but Reffell owes him a beer or two. Because he was yellow carded, Reffell missed the yellow card for the team warning when he was offsides and gave away a penalty on the 5 yard line a minute or two later - the one that took us to 12 points. So AWJ gets yellow carded for no reason and Reffell doesn't get yellow carded but deserved to be. At least it didn't have a huge impact on the game.

The Springbok coaching job drove many great men crazy in the professional era. Nick Mallett, Jake White, Allister Coetzee and even lesser coaches like Strauli and P Divvy. These coaches had proven track records at age group and club rugby. Heyneke Meyer built a dynasty at the Bulls. Yet the Bok job drove him crazy too (his last act of insanity was bringing 90 year old Matfield out of retirement when we had a young Lood De Jager, Etzebeth and Piter Steph as our lock options). Which brings us to Jacques Nienaber. Nienaber's defense based system when executed properly is largely responsible for us winning the world cup, its also responsible for Stormers choking away 3 Super Rugby titles. It requires superphysiological feats of athleticism thus why we can't replace player like PSDT and Vermulen. I have no issue with his system per say as long as it's counter balanced with a decent attack coach, 2018 we had Swys De Bruin from the Lions. Since his broderbond "boytjie" appointment as Bok coach, they have hired nothing but Rassie's Yes-Men, Sticks, Deon David's,Felix Jones and Co, but there is no international caliber guru to intergrate Nienabers extremely complicated and tiresome relentless defense system with a fluid, systems based attack. This is a glaring error and now the dumb SA beer drinking, biltong chewing public doesn't understand why even the likes of Roos, Gelant and many great players are struggling in this current Bok team. It's the coaching. Erasmus is to blame. He made his boy the coach and gave him nothing to really help him, hell even Robbie Deans, John Mitchell type would really help the Boks attack. Instead we are gonna blame players. Nienaber does the same thing over and over and over... And over and over... 6/2 split, 1-3-3-1 pods, kick for territory look for turnovers and feed off opposition errors. But what happens when the team actually has ball in hand in the opposition half.... They kick coz they don't know what else to do. I hated the Heyneke Meyer era, truly despised it. He cost us a very winnable 2015 WC and the embarrassment of the Japan loss, but in just 2 years Nienaber has made me hate his tenure even more. Making Cobus Reinach the most lethal attacking scrum half in the world do box kicks all day long is infuriating, we don't have a world class 10 currently and personally I'd settle for any 10 that can simply pass the ball and convert all his kicks till the likes of Sacha Mngomezulu, Kade Wolhuter are mature enough to be picked for the Boks. New Zealand Rugby fans think they got it bad with Foster, boy you got no idea. At least you got 2 great 10s and have Scott Razor Robertson to take over next year.

They really need to sort out the ruck laws. Attacking support players are off their feet 80% of the time in a ruck, and every once in a while, a jackler is almost never supporting his own body weight. Look at Maro Itoje getting a jackal penalty with one hand planted on the ground. Just random bull shit that turns off fans.

It is an absolute disgrace the way the so called reigning world champions play. As a world champion you should play to win but with south africa they play not to lose. With all the talent south africa have they just cant go out and play, back themselves up and make it happen. South africa will never be better than the all blacks ever, period! they just to ridget and they can be the number 1 team for years, the fact is the all blacks are the bar and its for the simple reason, when an all black player runs onto the field they posess an intangible god given talent and most importantly a sense of winning and how to do what to do, when to do it. Its something that cannot be taught or studied it just comes natural to an all black player so ya majority of the springboks well just not got it, to come close to the flair of an all black.
