About who hears the drums. It's not just kids that can hear them and I only noticed it after watching the movie several times: "Jumanji: a game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind." That's what all the kids wanted for different reasons. Allen wanted to go away, Sarah wanted to be there for him, Judy and Peter because they lost their parents. They might not have realized it, but they wanted to leave their world behind. That's exactly what the game gave them and also taught them that maybe their world isn't so bad.

Fun fact: if you go back and rewatch "welcome to the jungle" when everyone gets pulled into Jumanji they end up in a treehouse and they point to where Alan's name is carved in it and how he had been there first. That's a call back to this movie and how Alan was stuck in that game for like 20 years

2:44 ....."If you're afraid of something, you should face it".... That's technically right, but the thing is that bullying isn't the same as "fear"...... You can see Allan has to face 4 brats that want to kick his ass, and even if he face them, they will come back again, and again, and again.... You can face your fears, sure, but that doesn't mean they're gonna stop (Trust me, I know this pretty well)....

Hey Dasha, thanks for your lovely reaction - always appreciated. You might like to know that there IS a Jumanji board game that manages to capture some of the features of the game (not the actual creatures, obviously 😆), and it's a lot of fun. It's what's called a "cooperative" game, that means it's the players against the game. You all win or you all lose. Just search "jumanji board game".

😎👍 Three child actors that emerged in the early 1990s that film critics sensed would go on to a lot of bigger and better things were Elijah Wood, Christina Ricci and Kirsten Dunst, and they weren't wrong. For me, the scene in this movie that defines it is the look on Bebe Neuwirth's face when she stops the car, and that giant stampede of rhinos and elephants charges by.

For more Robin Williams I'd suggest some of the animated films where he did voice work, like Aladdin or Robots. Unless you're particularly afraid of snakes (in which case it will traumatize you), another really good Jonathan Hyde (the Hunter) movie is Anaconda. He is... definitely not a hunter in that one. 😂 19:50 Now that you know the word stampede, two more recommendations: Tremors and The Lion King.

Just to help your English ... "machete" is said like "mah - *shet* - ee". Watching movies (or TV shows) can help your language skills! Decades ago I met a french gal visiting the U.S. for a few weeks, and she loved watching TV, because it helped her pronounce words correctly and learn new words. And if the meaning of the new word wasn't clear, my friends and I would 'act it out', to help. Some were *very* interesting to act-out, like the phrase 'lip-lock'! It was almost like playing the game 'Charades'!
