Jumla Bazar is the starting point for trekking routes to the magnificent Rara Lake and Shey Phoksundo National Park. The site also functioned as a path for sages and pilgrims on their trip to Tibet's holy Mount Kailash. The bazar also has a temple dedicated to Chandan Nath Baba, a Sadhu who is supposed to have carried rice grains from Kashmir to the inhabitants more than 1,300 years ago. Sinja, located above Jumla, is known for being the birthplace of Nepal's major dialect, the 'Khas Bhasa.'
