The very best way to make a nice Jump Ring is to saw it. You are guaranteed a clean square cut with ends that will meet perfectly.
You won't be waiting for just the right Jump Ring anymore. This Jump Ring Making Kit helps you make it happen. The Jump Ring Kit has a Jump Ring cutting guide, 28 steel coiling mandrels and an inches to millimetre conversion chart. Use your variable speed drill and a jewelers saw and our Jump Ring Cutting Kit and you can make jump rings with inside diameters ranging from 3/32 to 17/32 in 1/64 increments (2.4 mm to 13 mm in .397 mm increments).
You will decide which coiling mandrel you need by finding the size you need on the Jump Ring Sizing chart. The chart will show you what both inside and outside dimensions based on the size and thickness of the wire used. You will be able to make jump rings for Silver, Gold, Copper and many other metals.
This Jump Ring Making Kit is easy to use use carbon steel mandrels and a 3D printed Jump Ring Cutting Guide made form plant based biodegradable plastic and has a Laminated Mandrel Sizing Chart.

I was intrigued when I stumbled upon this product on Etsy. If I understood correctly, the piece of wood comes with it which is great. I'd probably want to use a longer piece of wood so it could hang over the bench (or my kitchen table since, sadly, that's my only workspace) AND I'd put a slit in the wood that aligns with the slit in the jig so the saw doesn't get caught on it but that's just me... someone who isn't quite proficient with a jewelry saw... YET. LOL! I need to put this on my wish list. 👍 Thanks for a great demo!🙂

The wood is not included the screws are. no need to split the wood, the screw hols are back far enough that the tool hang over the edge

@@d2008smith Thank you so much, David. It's a great video - highly instructive with very useful and practical tips. I was looking at a professional jumpring maker, but at $212 + $75 shipping to Australia, I'm very unsure, as I haven't seen how that set up works, but I don't think it cuts, so a saw is still necessary anyway. Buying jump-rings is SO expensive, especially in sterling silver & 9k gold, and even then I can rarely find the exact inside/outside diameters and guages or the hardness I require (eg, half-hard etc), and I need them in so many sizes & guages for so many different Chain Maille jewelry projects in silver, 9k gold, aluminium & stainless Steel - So I definitely NEED to learn to make my own quality rings by the handful. I only know of ONE supplier for all of my needs, & the prices have more than doubled in the past 6 months. So thanks for showing how it's done - as you've given me the confidence to give it a good try myself ; ) ❤️

Wrap the helix in painters tape before sawing👍

That sounds good in theory or if you've got plenty of time a very few jump rings to make; however, I think using tape and having to clean the sticky off would be more aggravating and time consuming overall than to just go ahead and cut them. That's especially if one needs to make hundreds of jump rings for a Chainmaille project for example but that's just my personal opinion and preference. Cheers!🙂

@@tammygurl64 Painters tape is specifically designed not to leave "sticky"! Can you imagine a painter going around a room to clean it?!🤷‍♀️ Taping lengths of rings is pretty normal for chainmail.

I stumbled upon this product and link to this video on Etsy. According to the item description the jig is printed on a 3D printer using some sort of plastic material.
