I'm ready to get better at jumping so I headed over to the High Bridge flow trails in High Bridge, New Jersey to set a baseline on where I am at. Hopefully over time I'll be able to look back at this and see how far I have progressed.
I didn't check my tires when I first arrived, and felt the back tire come down hard, with that feeling like I was was only landing on the rim. Went back to the car and turns out I only had 20psi in the tires. Filled them up to 30psi and had a great rest of the day.
I find it funny how sometimes you feel like you are flying like superman through the air, then you check video footage and it looks like you are only 2 inches in the air for about 1 second.
Also, I really enjoyed my new Maxxis Rekon and Maxxon Minion DHR II tire setup. Super grippy versus my Bontrager XR2 setup. Adding to the improvements, my new PNW Range Handlebars (KW edition), PNW Range Stem Gen 3, and PNW Loam Grips, all purchased from @worldwidecyclery, really felt nice. I felt more comfortable in climbs and actually had the front tire come off the ground less while doing those climbs. The wider handles helped me to control the bike better around the turns. Overall, I am super happy with where my bike is right now. Looking to do a single video where I chat about all the upgrades I have done in the future with my thoughts on each one.
If you watch the video I think you will be able to see as I did more runs, I got faster each time. As for the High Bridge Flow Trails, they are a great place to work on your skills. I actually think next time I am going to focus more on the blue trail as I really liked the jumps on that trails better.

Good riding! I’ve just got my new 2022 Marlin 7 and can’t wait to get some videos up to my channel but we yet have too much snow in Alberta!!

Looks fun. There was a place back in NH that wasn't technical but it was like riding a rollercoaster, it was a loop. One of my favorites

I'd love to get up to NH to do some riding. One of these days I'll take a Trip! Any recommendations on areas?

@@DadTechTV So I live in MO now. I have a book "Mountain Biking NH" that I purchased (I think at EMS about 20 years ago) man, let's test my memory ... Mine Falls Park, Nashua. Probably not a destination ride for sure, but I remember enjoying it as an up down xc rollercoaster. To complete my thought ... I have been wondering where that book is

New sub. You are definitely right. You feel like you cleared a car and watch the video and three inches 😂. Picked up a used 6 a year and a half ago and I love it. No mods or changes. Had to replace the derailer last summer after a bad skinny crash. I can do everything in this video with my six no problem. And I weigh 220 😳

I'm also close to that 220 mark and these bikes can handle us no problem. It's a bit cold by me and I've been snowboarding and really getting on the bike, but excited to get out there in the next month or two.

Im stuck between the Marlin 7, San Quentin 1, and the giant talon 1. what are your thoughts?

My recommendation is always go with what your local shop sells if you are new to bikes. You’ll get the best support and easy way to get questions answered. I’m not as familiar with the San Quentin, but you can’t go wrong with the marline 7 (or 8 now) or the talon 1.

Great job. What size frame are you riding and how are you finding the bar/stem and fatter front tire compared to the stock setup? I have a 7 as well and haven't made any changes there yet but feel like I need to.

I'm just about 6' (think I'm shrinking a bit as I get older lol) and ride a Large frame on the Marlin 7. I am really happy with the upgrades i have done. The wider bars do give me a feeling of better control. The higher rise on the bars and the shorter stem has really helped with weight distribution for the way I ride. I was a bit worried about pulling the front wheel up going up hill in low gears, but to be honest, my front wheel was raising more with the original bars and stem (i think because of how much i was stretched out and i was constantly pulling back). The tires have also been a huge improvement for grip. Only regret is that I wish i went more aggressive with my rear tire.

Hi I got Marlin 7 too.. I'm wondering if what sizes did you choose to set in your wheels? You mentioned Maxxis tyres in your description.. If you don't mind, what are the sizes of those tyres sets? Thanks & ride safe.

I went with a maxxis rekon in the rear and dhr ii in the front. Both 2.4. I talk more about them in this video (tubeless didn’t work out). Going Tubeless Part 1: Parts // Trek Marlin 7 Bontrager Connection // Muc-Off Ultimate Tubeless Kit kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ac2kfJeJptqdc4U.html

What Handel bars are they and what is the rise?
@DadTechTV
@DadTechTV 2 жыл бұрын
They are the PNW range KW edition. There is a link in the description of the video. PNW recently released their Gen 3 version which is a bit wider. They have a 30mm rise. I really like them.

Thanks dude I ordered a Marlin 8 and want to put different bars and stem for upright position ! I bought a Renthal handlebar with a 40mm rise! I m going to order the 40 mm stem like you did for a more upright position! Renthal also makes handlebars for motorcycles!
