Dr. Kaiser Bengali is an economist with over 40 years of experience in teaching, research, and policy advice in Pakistan and internationally. Holding a master’s from Boston University and a Ph.D. from the University of Karachi, he has served at institutions like the Sustainable Development Policy Institute and as Managing Director of the Social Policy & Development Centre. His research focuses on economic inequality, poverty, and regional development. Notably, he was the first head of the Benazir Income Support Programme and has held advisory roles in Sindh and Balochistan governments. Dr. Bengali is also an author with numerous publications and serves on several boards including Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited and the Omar Asghar Khan Foundation.

I belong to Thatta and we grow tomatoes and after every 2 years our tomatoes are worth 2 rupees per kg. Many people suffer losses of lacs.

Education is important, but a good administrator with vision can guide better. Manmohan Singh(Phd - Economics) as FM under P.V. Narsimha Rao( PM- Administrator/Intellectual/Lawyer) was a rockstar, he excelled. When he got the reins as PM(he did not do good, he was unable to reform as expected). It was Narsimha Rios's ability as administrator to get things done which mattered.

Maharashtra state GST collection is more than Pakistan's budget. Bruhan Mumbai Municipal Corporation Corpus Fund is more than Pakistan's Foreign Exchange Balance i.e. USD 10 B.

Junaid bhai I think Pakistan is having all these problems because of the state being religious, and your Maulvis and Mullas are using it to their advantage. I have heard the discourses online from your Maulvis who don’t believe in the court system. The only solution for Pakistan is to have a government without any religion, otherwise the day is not far when Pakistan will be divided into four countries. A religion should be one”s personal choice. A religious State can never be a best State.

What a lame duck expert they have, biggest Pakistani problem is such experts. He says Software exports can not be basis of any economy lol just see India’s software services exports, and mind it there is a diff between software services & software. In fact software export dollar gave India hedge against oil dollars that go out. Infosys & TCS has more impact than it meets eye & strategically more imp than reliance & I am not even economist. Also he defends nationalisation which is more funny. It’s a short term solution for developing nation & not good. UK can afforded NHS at per capita GDP of £38k for India with per capita GDP of $2500 it needs HDFC & ICICI bank to be bigger than say SBI.

Your argument is lame here, Software cannot be mainstay of economy like India. Hedge against oil dollars don’t help the poorest of the poor. 250 billion dollars of Software exports have helped only the top 10% of the country and I’m stretching it. If software exports were so great our per capita income wouldn’t be so low 1/6th of China. Mass employment can only be provided by industrial exports which will spur the economy as a whole. Most economists even India agree with this gentleman in this regard, he’s right.
