That must be so hard to put yourself out there like that. Think about it. JK has to take the question in from a language he is still learning, change it from English to Korean so that he can understand the question, come up with the answer (hoping that he understood the question correctly) and try to find the appropriate words in his ever growing English vocabulary, and then answer the question back to the interviewer in English while on camera with everyone watching him and all the while praying that he doesn't embarrass himself and his members. Amazing. Kudos to JK!!!! 😊

Massive props to JK for learning English in the first place!! English is one of THE hardest languages to learn, with all its exceptions and nuances and words that are borrowed (stolen?) from other languages. If it's your native language, consider yourself extremely blessed. I learned to read English at such a young age, that I don't remember the process (come to think of it, the fact that my Indian immigrant parents taught it to me when I was 2 is an even bigger feat). Once I started school, I couldn't understand why my classmates struggled to read the simplest words. And now, 38 and learning Korean for the last couple of months, I get it. I feel like a kindergartener when I read Hangeul, and my Korean handwriting probably resembles that of a little kid, and I have no idea what the logic is behind some of the phonetic and grammatical rules (Duolingo is really dropping the ball here). But one day it'll be worth it. Stay on it, sweet JK. Someday you'll even surpass RM, and ARMY is here for it! 보라해요 전정국! 💜

I can understand that in this line of business and I guess global business in general, it is very beneficial to be able to understand and speak English. Learning English seemed to be something JK is passionate about and proud of. He is doing great. I only know bits of a few other languages. I cannot really hold a conversation. I know with consistent study I would be much better but time does not always allow it. I applaud JK for this.

Aw he’s doing such a great job and he’s come so far! It’s really not easy, i’m a conversation tutor and most people are so nervous to speak in another language at all even when it’s just the two of us, much less do it on camera or in front of a crowd. For many people the lack of confidence is the biggest hurdle but he’s just throwing himself into it, and you really have to admire him for that

Wow. His commitment to learning is fantastic. As an English as a foreign language teacher, I can tell you that English is one of the hardest languages to learn, both gramatically (after a certain point, mastering all 13 tenses and 3 conditionals, is super difficult) and sound-wise (for example, the "th" sound, called an unvoiced fricative, is hard to master if you did not start using it at a rather young age). BUUUUUT, as we ARMYs know, Jung Kook is the golden maknae! He has an uncanny ability to imitate sounds he hears, as we have seen when he sings, which is helpful in learning new languages. As he has often said about his craft, he constantly wants to improve. I think he is bringing that same mindset to the table with learning English. And if he can work at learning English, we ARMYs owe it to him and the others to learn a little bit of Korean as well.
