I miss Pete, and plenty of other past contributors, but there's something so special and watchable about Erica/Craig/Rhino. I didn't watch the DIS for a while (no fault of the show sometimes you just wind up watching way too much reality tv lol), but when I gave it another chance out of the blue about two months ago I just really found myself enjoying this trio. Keep up the good work y'all.

Erica dear, I am so glad you're there to try things for me. You seem to choose what I would choose. We have an ADR here next month, and it's been a very long time since we've eaten there. All previous times I've gotten the plant based Crew Stew. It was delicious. I am now very much looking forward to trying that falafel appetizer. In fact depending on how hot it is, that may be my meal. I am leaning toward the Tastes like chicken for my entree. We can't eat pork or shellfish and dairy is frought with complications. Thank you for your review right on time!

Brutallly honest opinion here : this place looks top tier for a theme park destination, and every dish made my mouth water. Can’t wait to try it sometime! Lots of things I’d like. Particularly all the items Craig was eying.

This is one of our must eat places every trip! I usually get the soup and then I get the falafel appetizer as my dinner. With a beer, that is plenty for me! Erica: I look forward to that falafel every trip!

This was my son's favorite restaurant the last time we were in DW and he still talks about the Char Sui Pork... we will definitely be returning... and this time I"m getting those lamb chops! Great restaurant review... I really enjoyed it!

We love Skipper Canteen and try to fit it in every trip. My favorites are the Tastes Like Chicken, the Orinoco Ida's Cachapas (I could easily make a meal off of this appetizer) and the Char Sui Pork. My husband and son love the Dan Dan Noodles. It's interesting that you guys thought the noodles were too salty. My husband has to watch his sodium and he's very sensitive to anything over salted and he's had those a couple of times and never mentioned it. I'm wondering if maybe they just had an off day in the kitchen on that dish. My son mentioned that the broth looked darker then he remembered, so maybe someone was a little heavy handed with the soy sauce that day. Still, this restaurant is a winner. We adore it.

The brazilian bread is the best thing at skipper canteen. And I love most everything on the menu. I just wish they still offered Melon Frosty

My wife and I 100% agree with this review. We absolutely love the 2 apps you guys ordered and usually get both and split an entree. Ryno's noodles is what we split last time and it was super salty and not good compared to the spicy noodle dish that used to be on menu.

Great to see a review of this place! My partner and I went during our trip in April and this meal was definitely a highlight of all the meals we enjoyed. I had the lamb and he had the noodles. I don’t remember the noodles being particularly salty, but it also didn’t surprise me that Ryno felt that way as we found a lot of WDW food to be a little too salty. Craig’s dessert looked amazing but unfortunately I can’t have cashews! 😩 Thanks so much for all the wonderful dining videos as of late!

Love your show! I have to eat gluten free, and had the best falafels with the humus appetizer there! Plus the gluten and dairy free taste like chicken because it is, is so good!!

I was there last September and my party of 3 had the same entrees. Our experience was not the same. So I might give it another chance now. I also miss Pete, because he was always critical like me!

Cachapa is actually a Venezuelan dish. Interesting they paired it with pulled pork. It's usually doesn't have flavor ( it's corn), and served with white cheese and a seasoned beef cut.

I enjoyed this restaurant and so did my vegetarian wife. And despite getting minor heartburn from the chicken I would get it again in a heartbeat. A very good restaurant!

Thanks for your review. We tried Skipper Canteen in May 2023. I was so looking forward to the chicken too. Unfortunately, it was way too salty. They brought me the sliced steak with sauce on side, veggies, and rice. This was delicious, and I'd dine there again. 😊

Great food and experience but the only issue I've ever had is the wait to get in is so incredibly long, even after you have checked in.

We ate there in March 2022, and we had the Orinoco Ida's Cachapas too. Honestly loved them, could have eaten 4 plates of them. Had Irrawaddy Irma's Hanger Steak as my entree and that was also really good. def would have both again

I think I had lamb chops one or twice years ago. I mostly forgot what they were like but “meh” to “ugh” came to mind. But when we ate here a few months ago, some inside me said “try Disney’s version” and I’m glad I did. Uh-maze-ing. That’s the good news. Bad news is I probably won’t like any other restaurant’s lamb. Basically this place ruined it for me. And later in that week we ate at Beaches and Cream and I didn’t want a burger so I tried the grilled cheese and Disney ruined that for me too (I.e. also amazing). As if to make up for this, we finally went to Kona Cafe after years of hearing about the Tonga Toast and tried it and … dry and meh. Liked the pancakes and sausage etc however! Okay got a little lost but the Skipper Canteen was a place we overlooked and I’m so glad we tried it and so glad I gave lamb another chance.

With so many negative comments made here about the food it makes me wonder if the restaurants at Disney World are recognizing Craig & Ryno, since they have been doing Disney World videos for several years and now many restaurant reviews, so the restaurants are taking special effort to make sure their food is good.

When Erica goes back and tries the vegetable stew, please sticky comment here what she thinks. The tastes like chicken is my second favorite dish there, but my favorite was when the whole fried fish was lion fish. You can’t beat being ethically required to eat a fish to help protect the ocean. Too bad that supply was not reliable enough.

Went to this restaurant a few years back (pre-Covid), and I wanted to like it. But nothing was that great or really stood out. I'm willing to try it again; maybe it was just an off night, who knows.

Your review didn’t come across as negative, Ryno. Just honest. While it’s less surprising because your dish was soy based, I find almost all dishes at WDW too salty. Even at Tifffins and California Grille, while I enjoyed our meals, everything seemed too salty, And I enjoy salt…potato chips, popcorn, bring it on. I just don’t like over salted mashed potatoes, soups, sauces, etc. Great review, all.

I disliked my lamb, not because it's lamb, but because the harissa sauce was all over my dish and just way too spicy!! And I love spice. I definitely preferred my daughters chicken.

I finally gave Skippers a try a few trips ago and was very disappointed. I had the tastes like chicken and it was battered bones…no chicken on the bones. I literally got barely a fork full of chicken with no exaggeration and our waiter was no where to be found. I asked for the sauce that comes on it to be on the side being not sure if I would like it or not and I did not like it. The other 2 in my party did not like their meals either. I know sometimes you have an off day but I don’t know if I could give it another try 😕

I had probably one of the worst Disney dining experiences at Skipper Canteen a few years ago. The server was just horrible. He was just saying their spiel in a monotone voice while looking around at his other tables. I was solo so maybe he didn't think that I was worth his time. He did not check on me at all during the meal. I ordered the chicken and it was bone dry to the point where I could not eat it. So I sat there, trying to flag him down to say that it was inedible. I sent it back and yet was still charged for it. I was so angry that I just paid and left. I really should have pushed the issue but at that point I had already been there over a half an hour not eating and was starving.

This is like the perfect Disney restaurant. In MK. Awesome food. Top notch theming. This is an imagineers wet dream. But you have to wonder why is this creativity and ingenuity missing in the parks? So sad. I mean the imagineers should be running the show. This has always been the key to Disney Magic since day one. Mickey Mouse should let Joe Rhode run the show with a blank checkbook. This is the only way you will beat Universal. Otherwise you’re toast Disney.

I want to say first that I love the show. Love this crew. Thought this was a great review, but PLEASE, can we stop making a big deal over the word "moist"? It's so childish and played out to to stop what you're saying to complain about a word. It's not just this podcast. I hear people do it all the time. You can hate the word if you want, that's fine, but can we stop making it into something that has to be mentioned every time the word is used? That said, Skipper Canteen is my go-to table service restaurant at Magic Kingdom. I always have great meals there.

Craig, pronunciation lessons. The "r" in "char siu" is silent. "Cha-soo". "Chermoula" is NOT whatever you said. It's pronounced "cher-moola". Hope that helps! BTW, those lamb chops looked incredible!

They never get the food that most people would order. I’m down for them getting unique food items, but at least get one that most people order. They went to homecoming and no one got chicken. And now this. Bring back Pete.

You mean getting the signature chicken dish that has been on the restaurant menu since opening day and was clearly being ordered the most in the restaurant isn’t what most people order? Pete would’ve ordered the chicken so I saved you some time.

I don’t care about Erica’s food allergies. Much less do I want to hear her explain it, through her nose, every video. Give her her own show where she can just order food and eat it without explaining her allergies. Everyone has a reason for what they eat- “my grandma made the best meatloaf and this tastes like it” , “my grandpa molested me with an udon noodle, so I don’t eat that”. I don’t care.

I don't know which is funnier - that you think anyone else cares what YOU think of the DIS Unplugged restaurant reviews or that you think you are somehow entitled to dictate the content of these FREE video reviews. The fantastic thing about this trio is that they're able to offer opinions addressing a variety of tastes, eating choices and allergy needs. If you don't care about this and don't like that, you'll be happier if you find other video reviews to watch.
