12May 2010. Lord Sugar is on the search for his first ever Junior Apprentice. From over 28,000 applicants, 10 candidates compete for a tailor-made fund worth 25,000 pounds to kick-start a career in business. Most of these tycoons of tomorrow are still at school, but all have a burning passion to succeed in business. Some run their own companies full time; others have dabbled in business; some run a market stall, some sell online.
Over the next six weeks, they'll battle it out through a series of tailor-made business tasks. In the first boardroom, Lord Sugar explains to these 16 and 17 year olds that he's not looking for the finished package but he wants to see that 'killer instinct' that you need for business.
After a chance to get to know one another - and suss out the competition - the young candidates get to see their new home, a luxury terraced house in one of London's smartest neighbourhoods, and must choose their team name and project managers. The following morning they have an appointment at Lord Sugar's old school where the teens are set their first business task - to sell 500 pounds worth of 23 different varieties of cheese at busy London market stalls.
Under the watchful eyes of Lord Sugar's aides Nick Hewer and Karren Brady, the teams must select a market to trade from, identify and price their 23 cheeses and get selling. With ten candidates all trying to prove themselves, it's not long before tempers flare and chaos ensues.
At the end of the task, the winning team get a treat while the losers battle it out in the boardroom. For one of these teens, it's the end of the road and time for Lord Sugar to utter his infamous last words: You're Fired!

Oh, and Lord Sugar's comparable to Justin Bieber, is he? In the adult Apprentice, we always have a few tough upbringing/survived against all odds characters, but these are just pretentious brats.

Can I actually point out in response to that that in many of the tasks, the teenagers actually perform better than the adults? It really bugs me when people talk like this about teenagers who want to do well... I am from the same generation as these guys, and we get so much stigma. If we go out drinking and partying, we get criticised for that, and if we make an effort, people say we should be behaving like teenagers. Can my generation actually do anything right?
@georgemillman
@georgemillman 12 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with that one statement of Zoe's... but on the tasks, she's actually pretty good. I read an interview with her where she said that she's actually not at all like the caricature the cameras made her out to be. I think a lot of Zoe was camera editing, and the others are pretty good. I don't think you should patronise them, but I do think, credit where it's due. They might not be perfect, but they are at least making an effort, and they perform much better on the tasks than the adults

a) It's been a few weeks since I watched these videos and read the comments, but I remember being kinda shocked (but laughing) about one comment that said that they didn't believe in abortion until they saw Josh. That's pretty harsh! - But then again, so are millions of other comments on KZfaq. Is 'prententious brats' really the most spiteful comment you've seen? b) I focused on Zoe as an EXAMPLE. Do you really expect me to discuss all ten candidates with you. c) Your comments (NOT your...

To pluck a random example from my last post, Zoe said: "No one wants to do a deal with an ugly person" - Do YOU think that's an ok thing to say? Do YOU think it's true? Don't you think it's a bit childish, a bit bratish? The adult world is full of criticism. The adult contestants get just as much flack, both from me and other commenters... but you would rather I patronize these kids by saying "Ooh, well done!", like they're 5 years old and have drawn a picture?

We all suffer stereotyping, and we/you always will. Most of us have to struggle our entire lives, and maybe you will too. Ok, well I've said all I have to say, I guess, but I hope you can get my drift that my comments are general about THIS group, not an entire generation, but, yes, I reckon ALL ten are pretty bratish. They've all had the benefit of a good background and education, supportive parents, good opportunities and a good sprinkling of luck. Good luck with your play.

I read a comment about this programme that said they should be behaving like teenagers, not businesspeople. Well, when we behave like that, we get criticised for that as well! Myself and loads of people I know make a real effort to get our names out there. I am looking to direct a play soon, and I was involved with my local radio station at 14. I admire the people on this show for making an effort to do something with their lives. You might feel that your generation is soft, but mine is not.

The problem is, that one statement paints a whole picture. She's also very childish when it comes to selling, snapping at colleagues in front of customers. The reason people have a go at your generation is because only 50 or 60 years ago, kids left school at 16 (or less), and had to go out and make a living, or they didn't eat. They did hard physical labour, maybe using similar business skills to build up rounds of some kind. Your generation, compared to earlier ones, I'm afraid is very soft.

...who try to do something worthwhile anyway. I was just using myself as an example of that. I have opportunities that some don't have, and I take advantage of them, but I will always appreciate that not everyone has my opportunities, and I would help anyone do well if they wanted to. I actually enjoy my life, but the fact remains that for the majority of my generation, it's bloody difficult to be successful, and the amount of stereotyping we have to suffer really doesn't help.

TIPS for viewers ( who want to be surprised by the outcome ): -DON'T READ Any COMMENTS , there are a lot of spoilers. Not only about who'll get fired a certain episode but even who''ll eventually win. (and the rest of the comm. seem to concentrate on the contestants looks and trolling anyways) -Try Not To Look at the thumbnails of the RECOMMENDED vids, soon there'll be one wich is called 'interview with the winner' including the name and the face of that youngster. ( ruined it for me )

a) It's fine to say that someone is a pretentious brat, I just don't think it's fair to say that about all ten of them based on a few individuals. b) I thought about referring to your comments about Tim and Hibah, but as you focussed on Zoe, I thought it was fitting to carry on using her as an example. c) I never actually said that personally, my life is hard. My life is actually easier than a lot of my friends. I meant that life is hard generally for my generation, and I respect people who try

I should add that I am not of that older generation myself - I'm a child of the 80s/90s - but as an adult, I do now realize that my generation had it easy. My dad was written off as an academic failure at the age of 12, and was therefore given responsibility of running his parents 200 acre farm, virtually single handed. He was able to drive a tractor, was up at all hours tending to animals giving birth, and he handled all the farms business transactions. It makes my generation seem pathetic.

Well, if you don't like Zoe, that's fine, you can't like everyone, but she's only one out of ten. You are taking that one thing that someone said, and using it to generalise to everyone on the programme. I'm sorry, but my generation has a bloody difficult time of it. We are in a really tough economic climate, it's incredibly difficult to get jobs or to make a name for yourself starting out. Not to mention all the unfair generalisations people make about us. I read a comment about this programme

I know... it just annoys me is all. I try to defy stereotypes as much as I can. And I never thought that your comments were about my entire generation, it just seems as though whatever my generation does, they will be criticised for something. Thanks for the luck :) Have a nice day.

a) Having a light-hearted bitch is fine, but you used the phrase 'pretentious brats', and I think that's quite spiteful b) Your first comment mentioned three, but after that, you only focussed on Zoe, so she seemed to be the main cause of your angst c) I don't think it's fair to say I'm brattish. I'm not like that, it just really irritates me when people stereotype teenagers. Most of my friends don't fit the stereotype, and I find it quite insulting that people expect me to be lazy and loutish.
