Very helpful ideas. If you want the string in the back, you can prevent the bump by not tying it. Just cut the ends so they do not show over the edge of the button, and glue them down. Since most of the time they will be glued to a page anyway, that will just reinforce the ends staying down.

I have been making similar buttons and find that a narrow wooden skewer works well for the holes. Also my 3/4" punch worked well for some of the circles.

LOL, no paper punch and no darning needle (have a yarn needle)...OMG! a bit wonky, but I made six & I love them, I used some of the 'vegan" leather for one..... Thanks, maybe one day I'll buy a hole punch Love this idea. I made the ones with no button, all my buttons are vintage, and very pretty as is. I used some of the shank ones for that spine jewelry PAM, so many great ideas! :)

Love these!! I’ve rubberstamped on buttons but was never pleased with results on buttons with a edge or concave button. Your idea will work on any button !!!! Thank you

Glycerin it's glycerin use a couple of drops of that and you work it into the pad couple of drops two or three drops helps recondition your dad it's not if they run out of pigment but they dry out a little bit

Thank you great idea. I have a lot of ugly buttons. When you tied off your embroidery thread you could try a reef knot rather than a granny knot. Right over left then left over right, the reef knot stays done up better, the granny tends to open.
